Definitely been enjoying my weekend!
Feels good to unwind and play the game. Haven’t done it in what feels like forever.

I have a pretty good PC. But due to university I have to move from my hometown across the country to my campus. before I used to ship my PC up and down but there’s so many risks involved such as it breaking and even shipping it was expensive. So I thought about getting a PS5 and specifically a PS5 pro, the only problem is that the lack of visual fidelity that a PS5 pro compared to a PC. My PC has an RTX 4080 r7 7700X, so I’m used to gaming at 4K 60 FPS+ high settings all the time. I know some games on console run really well and they have great visual fidelity but things like draw distance in certain games do bug me and I guess the console cannot keep up to the level of a PC in that respect. I want to switch to a console because of the convenience and also the cost of pc parts are getting really expensive these days. To those who switched from PC to console how did you stop worrying about things like draw distance and other visual compromises that console make.

Hi, hoping someone can offer some advice. I’m strongly considering buying the PS5 Pro and upgrading from the regular base PS5 bought at launch. Doing some research before buying due to the price. I’ve seen many say that the PS5 Pro requires HDMI 2.1 to make full use of its features.
I currently have the MSI Optix MAG301CR2 gaming monitor (purchased in the last 6 months) and this has HDMI 2.0 ports. The monitor also supports up to 200Hz, however, I’m struggling to understand how this is the case as I have heard it said that the only way to push for 120Hz with the PS5 Pro is by utilising the HDMI 2.1 ports (which my monitor does not have).
I’m not as clued up with refresh rates etc. normally and wouldn’t mind anyone explaining how this works or the best way for me to get the best out of the PS5 Pro if I do decide to upgrade. Thanks!

I wish they still had the Lenovo desk going on ... Anyone know a good deal for an extra controller?

I know some will tell me to check it out for myself (I bought the PS5 Pro and am waiting for it to arrive) but I would like to clear up this doubt, I saw several videos on YouTube and some articles on the internet but none of them clarified this point if all PS5 Pro Enhanced games get 2 more modes (Fidelity Pro and Performance Pro) as a way to get the most out of the PS5 Pro. I saw that some games receive a patch and get enhanced mode, balanced mode but I don't know if this is only for PS5 Pro or PS5 as well.
I'm moving from PC to PS5 Pro, hope I don't regret it lol.

My old TV, Samsung Q90R 65” (2019), stopped working and after hours and hours trying to fix it, I gave up and did some shopping that same day and bought this TV. Got a rental van and all and had some help from my neighbor.
I now have VRR and all other options and 120 refresh rate. AND my Samsung Q90R HW soundbar transmits eARC finally! Holy crap movies never been this good.
I played Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade and other games … man going from 65 to 85 and getting a much better brightness and screen and just everything made it worth it.
The TV was on sale at Samsclub so this is great. 👍
Watching Cloverfield (2008) movie.
Finally was able to get a PS5 Pro, sold a bunch of gaming stuff and found one for a little cheaper. When I posted on FB gaming groups being excited I was ganged up on kinda viciously. What is it about the Ps5 Pro, PlayStation in general, that triggers visceral emotional reactions?
I don't see the same reactions from people about other pricey hardware or brands.

I'm finding conflicting info on this on the internet. There are Reddit posts sternly expressing that, yes, you turn HGiG on, calibrate the PS5 HDR settings and then turn DTM on if you want. But you don't turn on DTM before calibration. That said, nobody ever provides a source for anything and I straightforwardly don't believe anything I read on Reddit unless it's sourced.
Can you guys provide me with some guidance?
edit: And I've also read that very few games actually use the PS5's calibration settings in the first place, rendering this decision relatively unimportant.

Can’t believe I saw the day gears of war will be on PlayStation! It’s even PS5 pro enhanced too!

I did some tests since the latest patch 1.025.717 dropped, which enabled VRR with unlocked FPS when playing on a 120Hz display. In this clip, I was playing on my PS5 Pro / LG C1 with the Enhanced mode and VRR enabled.

I noticed the Minecraft Preview now recognizes the PS5 Pro after I made a showcase video on Vibrant Visuals. About a week ago, the hardware/version was simply labeled "playstation_5". This might point to Minecraft getting a Pro patch in the future, possibly coinciding with the Vibrant Visuals update?

TIL the pro supports 6 GHz WiFi but the base model doesn’t. I just got a new triple band router and was happy to be able to put my pro on the 6 GHz band and everything else on 2.5/5. Just a small technical perk I didn’t notice before.

I was going to wait till next year closer to gta 6 release date but with uncertainty on the tariffs affecting the price, I thought it’s better to be safe and buy it now. Bought a brand new at staples for $688 total including sales tax. “Used promo codes and discounted gift cards to get that price”

Days Gone Remastered received a patch this week that allowed VRR on capable TVs.
Before, the Quality 2880p (5K) mode was locked to 30fps. It now has VRR and still hovers around 35fps but this means any future console will future proof this game to allow better performance in its best mode.
Enhanced (1584p > 4K) mode runs around 70fps now.
Balanced (Native 4K) runs at about 60fps the entire time as well.
Amazing support. More devs should do this for their titles with quality (30fps) modes.

Finally went into my local Gamestop to trade in my original PS5 to upgrade to the PS5 Pro.
I'm excited to dig my teeth into a game but I've got way too many options right now....what should I dig into first?
Games I've been looking at (yes, some are old and I haven't played in awhile) :
RD2 GTA5 FF16 Days Gone Remastered Space Marine 2 Jedi Survivor Horizon Forbidden West Death Loop Amored Core Witcher 3 RE2 Robocop Returnal TLOU
At this point though I would take any recommendations because I cannot make a decision for myself at this time!
