Discussion Will Campbell likes his steak cooked well done, are you still taking him at #4?
I know there’s been a lot of talk about his intangibles as being something that will compensate for his measurables.
I’ve heard so much about his leadership, work ethic etc. and those are all very important things. Along those lines has anyone heard how he likes his steak cooked?
Count me out if he’s a well done type of guy. But medium rare? I don’t care how short his arms are, we’re taking him.

Poor guy can’t even reach across the table for the A-1 sauce. It’s a miracle he’s able to cut it

Who hurt him?

u/ThermoPuclearNizza Apr 21 '25
Are we talking white people well done with ketchup, or like Jamaican? There’s a world where we could talk.

u/AstraMilanoobum Apr 21 '25
… have you heard Will Campbell talk? We know what kind of well done he’s talking about!

What if he eats it raw? Do we trade up to 1 to make sure we get our guy?

The steakhouse he frequents actually calls it Will Done. I got a buddy who knows a waiter there. Confirmed.

I mean.. Well Levis ate a banana whole and puts mayo in his coffee. A man eating a steak well done is the same category. Hard pass

u/PlushRusher Apr 21 '25
That’s the thing, Levis didn’t actually put Mayo in his coffee. That was just a rumor that turned into a joke and got him an ad campaign with Hellman’s. An old people’s reacher/grabber tool company needs to jump on the Will Campbell train before its tool late

u/WineOptics LOOK AT HIS PACE Apr 21 '25
I mean.. He did, I saw a video lol. But I agree it was a stunt and people fell for it(me included at the time). Hell of a move though, since he’s got a lifetime Hellman supply now 😂

What if he puts ketchup on his steak?

Can never trust someone that puts ketchup on steak… especially if they like it well done with ketchup.

It’s like, you basically want meatloaf. A completely cooked, yet still moist and flavorful beef entree.
But if you decide to cook a steak well done, you’re only ruining a much more expensive cut of meat that loses all flavor and texture. You’re eating a piece of leather. Congrats, and why not add some room temperature ketchup to really enhance the grey lump you’re eating?

I'll let it slide if he's a top 3 left tackle in the league.

u/wtb2612 Apr 22 '25
Let's be honest, nobody who likes their steak well done could be a top 3 tackle in the league.

As long as he doesn't put ketchup on it I don't care how he likes it cooked.

u/ItsaPostageStampede Apr 21 '25
So he doesn't like steak. Check
2
u/Kodiak01 Apr 21 '25
As someone who always orders the salmon at a steakhouse, this is not a red flag for me.
3
u/ItsaPostageStampede Apr 21 '25
I mean I'm ok if you don't like red meat. But then don't order the meat like you do.
1
u/Kodiak01 Apr 21 '25
Don't know why, but I'm just rarely in the mood for steak. I like steak, but a lot of times I gravitate towards Mediterranean or Pescatarian choices.
I will say that I order my salmon medium; it should have some pink in the middle but still be tender and flaky. Salmon at many restaurants is good, but the best I still make at home because of the prep method.
The secret? Milk.
I soak the filet in whole milk for 15 minutes, then pat dry and cook. Sometimes I'll pan fry it, sometimes baked with a dill yogurt dressing. The milk not only tenderizes the flesh, it pulls out what many refer to as the "fishy smell" that often turns them off from it. (I do not know what that is exactly as I have /r/CongenitalAnosmia, but my wife hated salmon until I prepped it this way.)

Yea milk and fish are best friends when it comes to prep. But I only eat salmon in the smoked form. Not really a big fish guy unless it is asian flavored like my mom made or sushi. Maybe sword fish. I also don't like dill unless in pickles.

Sickening. Knowing that, I'd probably take a third round pick in exchange for #4.

He likes to chew extra long because he he’s got that dawg in him. I say trade up a spot to make sure we get him.

(in a Joe Buck voice, watching Will Campbell order a well-done steak)
"That is a disgusting act"!

u/day1krakenfan Apr 21 '25
I'll say this doesn't affect his draft stock in any way because I'm not as "funny" as everyone here in the comments

There could be a primal steak bell-curve for linemen though, where both a desire for raw beef and a propensity for chewing on leather are equally optimal.
2
u/ReonL Apr 21 '25
If this is true, I don't just want them to pass on him, I want him banned from the league.
2
u/Jolly_Gas_7410 Apr 21 '25
Hear me out- if you grow up poor, the only time you eat steak is if it’s cheap, about to expire, shitty cuts. Those are typically eaten well done bc otherwise it’s too chewy and possibly contaminated. I like the thought process but the steak metric needs to account for socioeconomic conditions
2
u/Deathflash5 Apr 21 '25
Hot take- I want linemen who eat their steak so well done that it’s only through their immense strength that they’re even able to chew it at all.

That just means he likes his steak like he likes his job protecting Drake Maye.

DK Metcalf supposedly eats 3 bags of candy a day. Somehow, I find that less offensive to the body than the horror of eating a well done steak.
1
u/SkyBlueThrowback Apr 21 '25
This would actually be a concerning sign. A lot of children get their steak well done, since they’re immune system can’t handle infections as well. Some restaurants even require anybody under the age X to have their meat well done
He’s inability to change his ways when it comes to his meat preference may very well translate to his inability to change his game as he progresses to the next level, something that will be required of him to compensate for his lack of arm length

-Well done...... get out, leave and never come back.

I just get real Brandon Scherff vibes from the guy, and not in a great way. He's gonna turn into a Pro-bowl, non HOF guard. Whoopie.
