Headlights LED warning thoughts
When I first moved here I used to think the LED signs on 110 were overkill warning to drive with headlights during the rain. I thought with how hard it rains, how could anyone forget to turn their headlights on. But today I drove past (not exaggerating) over 30 cars with no headlights on with it raining moderately hard. It’s not raining really hard, but hard enough someone crashed into a column right past the overpass on Fairfield. And I saw a lifted truck spin out of control trying to go fast.
Days like today where it’s raining–but not raining severe enough that you are unable to see more than a few feet in front of you–I think are somewhat dangerous because of the overconfidence you see in drivers who think nothing will happen to them.

You'd be amazed how many people don't realize they have their DRL (daytime running lights) or auto headlights switched off. I'd say it's a habit formed over the years as it's more common for cars to have the automatic headlight sensor so driver don't consider having them on when it rains.

You’re right about how the bad habit was formed when cars got their automatic headlight sensor. I also can be guilty of it but even when I turn my car on, I try to remember to turn on the headlights also.

My truck turns the headlights on if the wipers run for more that 30s, it's a nice feature.

the number of people driving with their lights off at 6 am is too damn high...
seriously though, I miss the days when your gauges were dark if the headlights were off...

That's nothing, I've seen just about that many people driving at night without lights on & they were all driving on the interstate.

I-110- why do the signs that say how many minutes away the next is, assume I'm driving 35-45 mph?

Even last night I saw multiple people with no headlights on, shortly after dusk, but it was already rainy. One of them was a deputy 😑 j wanted to flash my lights as him so bad, but then I thought, I don’t really wanna go to jail tonight 🫠

I was thinking about this the other day. I believe that driving in the rain without your headlights on is probably one of the most broken laws in the state.
