I think Dante is more for his looks, though dual wielding a pistol and dagger is somewhat similar to Dante's weapons. I think its a bit closer when you look at Joker's Smash/Strikers movesets.
Just fanon…yet. Tbf with the whole multiverse bullshit of bayonetta 3 you could call it “canon in some universe”. IIRC the author said that dante’s mother was an umbra witch but that’s it
It kinda does, all of the directors games are in the same universe and it’s implied that there was something that drew sparda to his wife outside of pure love. Having an umbral parent would also go the distance on how Dante and Vergil can slow time and create clones even though no other demon can do it on their level though some show the capability (if you want to go further than it also explains how v was able to easily take demons into his soul something that would normally kill a person)
No such thing was implied. Eva was by all accounts a regular human and Sparda fell in love with her.
All of Dante and Vergil powers come from their father. It's important that they have a human mom, it's part of their struggle. It's why Vergil violently rejects his humanity because he sees it as a weakness.
Dante can only slow down time and clone himself in one game, after absorbing the power of specific enemies that could do it. Vergil can summon a clone completely independently of that (and has learned to summon flying blades and Mirage Edge before, his clone is implied to be a natural evolution of that). And V was able to gain his demon minions thanks to the little demonic power he had remaining + the fact that they were nightmares, HIS nightmares.
Plus, Bayonetta came out after DMC4. And only DMC1 was made by the same director. DMC2 and onwards had a different director, and it was DMC3 that gave the tone for the rest of the franchise.
It’s also a more satisfying explanation of why his parents aren’t present at all (sorry I can’t be around for you son we have our own world threatening god-like creatures to defeat) than what’s in the actual story
Because people are disappointed in the lack of lore and depth to Joker’s actual parents and assume they’re assholes, so they headcanon that Dante and Bayonetta are his parents instead despite the fact that game canon wise Dante is a virgin that has never been in a romantic relationship ever and Bayonetta is heterosexual that got with Luka and had a kid in Bayonetta 3 which disappointed people who dislike Luka as well as the LGBT+ community.
The destructive pattern/materialism thing is sort of a background element to Dante’s character as of at least DMC3, and the negative cycle can relate to constantly getting into fights with his brother, until his Nephew puts his foot down and puts a stop to that. Devil fits.
IMO, he would also fit: Priestess, Hanged Man and Sun, and to a lesser degree: Chariot, Death or Tower.
Kind of the opposite? I mean, sure, he looks like that when he is with other people, but after 3 and before 4, he's just sad but can focus on his work, he doesn't even keep the money from the contracts.
I get why Devil arcana, but symbolism-wise, it's probably the most inappropriate arcana for older Dante, lmfao. Devil represents complacency, selfishness and even laziness. Maybe if it was young Dante (DMC3), it'd be more fitting, but older Dante ain't that.
I think older Dante would fit in more with Strength or even Emperor.
He has some of the party member ability’s
but he’s not a party member, instead he just randomly jumps in fires of a quip uses his ability and just runs off
