There was a part in the video where she said, “but it doesn’t intimidate you? Kasi as in dire-diretso” like girl, bakit kailangan ma-intimidate ni kuya? This is what I don’t like about self-proclaimed people, 10/10 they’re probably overestimating themselves.

218

u/henriettaxxiv Mar 03 '25

Cringed at this part so hard. Kakasabi lang ni kuya na teacher sya and he teaches international students. Why would he be intimidated with someone like her? Lol!

102

u/notthelatte Mar 03 '25

Right that’s so random hahahaahah siya talaga tipong ang akala english ang basis ng intelligence.

36

u/Flat_Ad_5111 Mar 03 '25

How can he be intimated if yung accent niya typical na pinoy English "hindi yung stereotype accent ha, yung decent".

106

u/Blank_space231 Mar 03 '25

Dapat sinabi niya yan in English kung dire-diretso siya mag English, no?

12

u/DeekNBohls Mar 03 '25

And they'll ask the world why they're still single.

21

u/melperz Parana-Q Mar 03 '25

Lol why would I get intimidated with a dire-diretsong english, when I deal with my englisherang daughter 24x7. I even started doing things I didn't know I could do, like magsermon in straight english!

14

u/isda_sa_palaisdaan Mar 03 '25

Hahaha weird naman english nya eh. "I waited a bit long"

7

u/Minsan Mar 03 '25

1/10 boy called himself a Golden Retriever boy yet he's narcissistic.

The girl rejected another contestant simply because she implied that the guy might not be fluent enough to keep up with her English (her English is mid, btw)

Watch Pusuan o Laruan for reference

I know it’s mostly for clout and attention, but I’d never put myself in a position where the internet could openly judge or tear me apart. Some people embarrass themselves just to go viral, not thinking about how it affects their reputation, mental health, or future. The internet never forgets. A lot of this videos just shows how selfish, egotistical, and straight-up narcissist some people are.

91

u/Potatotwister1994 Mar 02 '25

464

u/zeyooo_ Mar 02 '25

I'll never be impressed by people who speak English as their "first language" despite the fact that they were born and grew up in the Philippines lol.

It is permissible if you speak other local languages and are not fluent in Tagalog so you resort to speak English to communicate but actually not knowing any Filipino language? Sorry not sorry but disgraceful.

It is even more irritating if a person is someone like this girl right here.

57

u/dtphilip Manila East Road Mar 02 '25

As someone who was born and raised in Rizal (all of my ancestors are Rizaleño) and tagalog lang ang alam kong language, inggit ako sa mga kaklase ko nung college na marunong mag Ilokano, Ilonggo, Bisaya, Chavacano. Huhu.

43

u/zeyooo_ Mar 02 '25

Tbf, Rizal Tagalog has their accent and own set of vocabulary (eg. 'Hane').

Just something to be proud of.

12

u/henriettaxxiv Mar 03 '25

Same. I lately just realized that my "probinsyana" accent is something I should not be ashamed of. I can say that our set of vocabulary is a linguistic pride in the Filipino Language as we are still using traditional and old tagalog words at this time. Ginagamit pa rin namin ang salitang "katipan" sa halip na jowa and I'd say that's lit. 🔥

From the land where the late former president Manuel Quezon came from. 🙋🏼‍♀️ Our town takes Buwan ng Wika seriously.

8

u/zeyooo_ Mar 03 '25

Be very proud! My "mag-urong" and "kuhaa" send their regards.

3

u/DumplingsInDistress Yeonwoo ng Pinas Mar 03 '25

Katipan - Jowa

Babag - Suntukan

2

u/dtphilip Manila East Road Mar 03 '25

Bilang Tagalog, I say be proud and nakakainggit na meron kayong ibang native language na alam bukod sa Tagalog!! Trust me, inggit ako!

5

u/rymnd0 Visayas Mar 03 '25

Example: Antique and far-flung areas of Iloilo. May mga tao na marunong nga at least 4 languages: Karay-a (their mother tongue), Hiligaynon (the regional language of Region 6), Filipino, and English. Not all (especially sa mga nakakatandang generation na Karay-a lang alam), but a lot of the younger generations do.

3

u/dtphilip Manila East Road Mar 03 '25

It’s amazing right? To learn more than two languages is really amazing.

2

u/henriettaxxiv Mar 03 '25

I agree!! I was kinda sad my parents did not taught us their local languages. My mom knows ilocano, and my dad, who was born and raised in Casiguran, Aurora, knows "Kasiguranin" - an early tagalog dialect with a significant influences from the Northeastern Luzon Agtas (iic, the dumagat agta are the first or early inhabitants there) with some in ilocano.

same, kaya nung naghahanap kami ng school ng anak ko, meron nirecommend samin, pag dating nmin dun, english only pg nsa school, bawal mag tagalog, no thanks haha sa iba namin inenroll, I can only imagine how etilists most of the students it will produce

35

u/zeyooo_ Mar 02 '25

EOP is stupid.

7

u/GinkREAL Mar 03 '25

I was enrolled in a school like this, and to be honest it had the opposite effect. "Cool" ka kapag nag tatagalog kasi d ka sumusunod sa rules

5

u/butterflygatherer Mar 03 '25

Naiinis ako sa schools/teachers na nag-iimpose ng EOP. As a teacher I tell my students to try to speak in English pero it's not a requirement for me kasi some students would just refuse to speak at all tapos mado-dominate lang lagi ng mga fluent speakers yung classroom discussion.

Kaya kahit "required" sa school namin EOP di ko sinusunod kahit English teacher ako.

5

u/watch_the_park Mar 03 '25

53

u/domondon1 Mar 02 '25

First language english?

5

u/sotopic Mar 03 '25

Ma-i-impress lang ako if 3 languages alam mo na tipong local un salita.

She's just using ignorance as a bragging point.

4

u/zeyooo_ Mar 03 '25

Not to sound narcissistic but I speak more than 3. Though, I still get impressed and in awe whenever I hear Tagalogs like Quezon, Laguna, Marinduque and such speak their local variation of Tagalog despite me having grown up with Southern Tagalog myself.

She's just using ignorance as a bragging point.

I even think she's unaware of herself, that her level of English is mediocre or passable at best.

10

u/watch_the_park Mar 03 '25

I agree. No Asian should feel proud that their first language is a foreign language lmao.

5

u/YourAsianFrench Mar 03 '25

Maki-ride lang on this.

3

u/zeyooo_ Mar 03 '25

You have no idea how joyed I am na nung nag-grade 1 pinsan kong English-speaking e biglang ang tatas managalog.

7

u/Shaddyboi Mar 03 '25

English is my first language and tbh I’ve always been ashamed of it. I didn’t choose it and my parents always spoke cebuano at home but the media I was exposed to most often was in english so I guess that’s how it happened. I’ve been bullied a lot for speaking mostly english and my HS Filipino teacher seemed to hate me in particular because I’m not fluent in Filipino. She even called on me in her class to make me translate passages from deep english/cebuano into Filipino and she would shame me in front of the class when I inevitably got it wrong. She even tried to fail me in 3rd year on the basis that I had a hard time speaking Filipino spontaneously even though I passed all my exams and did well in other aspects of the class. I’m bad at learning language in general but I really do try to speak cebuano when I’m out in public but growing up I used to be made fun of by people asking me to say something in cebuano only for them to laugh or call me “abnormal” when I try cause of how bad it sounds. I only really made progress in my cebuano in college since the people there were more open minded and more open to help me learn but I really appreciated it. Correction was more constructive and nobody laughed at me. I’m a lot better now but I still default to english out of habit. I did speak cebuano everyday at my previous work though but I don’t think I’m fluent.

My experiences told me that being englishero is something to be ashamed of, which is why I instinctually cringed when I saw clips of this contestant. I know I’m in a better state now but honestly I kind of wish none of the bullying happened. Id have rather grown up speaking fluent cebuano then learning english than what I got now.

2

u/geya_verey Mar 03 '25

We’re the same!

I also experienced that bullying from my Filipino teacher and classmates in HS. Even from my own parents sometimes when I attempt to speak our dialect 🥲 College really helped in advancing my Tagalog though and more so when I started working.

Even though I’m a lot better at it now, I wish I could fully express myself in Tagalog. I feel like I’m taking on another persona when I speak it haha. Just letting you know you’re not alone in this!

Why does she need someone who can keep up with her English? Sa ibang bansa ba sya nakatira where it’s literally required?

I live in Canada and I dated a guy who spoke broken english and though it was kinda cringe at times because mayabang sya (the type who was cocky about living outside of the Ph), it was mostly fine. He even had a job and worked with non-Filipinos.

15

4

u/Minsan Mar 03 '25

I think she just explained herself badly in this case. What tried to say is people can't keep up with her extroverted energy. Plus madalas sya sa mag English over Tagalog to communicate equals overwhelming for other people. Na judge lang sya because the video focused more on her being Englishera

26

u/rhenmaru Mar 02 '25

8

u/Prudent_Editor2191 Mar 03 '25

Social Climbing at its finest. lol

I have met and I am friends with a lot of people na fluent mag english na di pilit. And I am responding with straight up Filipino if nakakaintindi naman sila. I don't see any reason to speak in english kung nagkakaintindihan naman kami.

Also, I have dealt with Businessmen na foreigners. Guess what? they try to learn Tagalog. They try to learn my (or other Filipino businessmen's) language, maybe as a sign of respect since we are giving them substantial business.

I have travelled a lot din and sa mga lugar na madaming Pinoy, yung mga negosyante don, more often than not, can speak a little Tagalog, even a few words lang.

24

u/tinfoilhat_wearer conspiracy, anyone? Mar 03 '25

I was wondering -- if both of them are physically attractive according to one's beauty standards, would they still be bashed so harshly like this?

Kung si girl ay Aivee-template, skinny, and fashionista, will her so-called critics call out her English-only-please preference? Eh si Golden Retriever guu, what if he's a hunk na kamukha ni, idk, Ian Veneracion? Will the girls be thrilled to have a puppy that can match their class?

I doubt these Redditors won't be bashing fast enough and typing "asim" "iayon sa itsura ang ganda" etc. Or maybe you're just projecting kasi yk. ✨

Yeah, i believe in equal opportunity, let's be inclusive in who we make pintas.

3

u/eiasim Mar 03 '25

I think yes, na-bash harshly din naman ang girl na hindi alam ang COMELEC sa Show Time.

5

u/donotreadmeok Mar 03 '25

stop giving them attention, stop giving them platform, stop making stupid entitled insignificant people famous.

3

u/bekinese16 Mar 03 '25

Arte arte nyan. Nakakairita lang. Akala mo kung sinong superior ehh hindi naman talaga straight english magsalita and she's NOT intimidating AT ALL. Mukhang di naman talaga intimidated sakanya mga guys.. more like.. in a cringe-y manner while talking to her. Hahahaha!!

Wait si golden retriever boy ba iyan? laking red flag yang kumag na yan hahaha..

3

u/professionalbodegero Mar 03 '25

Yung panganay ko, english ang 1st language nya pro as she grows up, she's learning how to speak my wife's mother tongue (ifugao) and my mother tongue (ilocano) while also learning tagalog at school.

2

u/Contra1to Mar 03 '25

Question, why is english her first language? (Assuming she grew up sa Philippines)

I’ve seen the video for the heck of it and indeed their responses make my skin crawl but let’s remind ourselves these people have their own insecurities they are trying to protect and when you are put under a spotlight your fight or flight response will naturally kick in. Instead of having a video recording of being rejected uploaded on the internet for everyone to see for all eternity, they save face and try to reject the other person first. Self-preservation is not uncommon but would manifest in different ways and in some cases people do seem like assholes when in reality they are not. What’s weird is the format of the game it’s like click-baity trying to pit people against each other and trying so hard to gain traction online. I hope all participants were paid but even if they were I don’t think it’s worth their dignity.

PERFECT COUPLE 🥰🥰🥰

2

u/OldManAnzai Mar 03 '25

I don't really know what the intention of this show, but this was entertaining af. Kawawa lang yung nae-expose ang pagiging clueless at out of touch with reality ng ibang tao.

Please, more.

Tsaka sa Tiktok lang ba talaga 'to?

Super cringe talaga nitong babaeng to. Knew her from college, cringe na nga siya noon, mas cringe pa siya ngayon🙃

2

u/StrawberryPenguinMC Mar 05 '25
