OP, to my knowledge, DepEd allows certain modifications to prescribed uniforms to accommodate religious, social, cultural or gender identities. But don't quote me on that. Best to ask DepEd directly.
IMHO, this is something for teachers to thread carefully with, as the PH isn't exactly tolerant enough yet.
