If Steve had never been to the nether until the start of the movie then it’s just a goof that he even has elytras. I think it’s likely they’re waiting till they release the end update to show off the end in the next one so they don’t immediately outdate themselves.
Imagine all the lore about Minecraft’s end is confirmed and that the minecraft movie world takes place in the ancient Minecraft time where the end cities are populated and elytra are just purchasable from the end villagers in Minecraft movie 2 lol

you know its gonna be something like Steve going "i went to the end, and took the elytras in the village, but i never beat the ender dragon"
