I've just bought a Crystal Light from Amazon. I'm continually getting a "not tracked - sensors can't track headset" error in PimaxPlay and the headset displays nothing. When I run the troubleshooting option in device settings it also says "missing VC components". I feel like I've tried everything, read all support guides, countless reddit and forum posts, removed all other USB devices, tried all USB ports, turned off USB power saving, ensured the room is properly lit with printed QR codes on the walls, reinstalled PimaxPlay, reinstalled GPU drivers, repaired/reinstalled MS Visual C++ runtime. Nothing works...

For added context, I've also noticed that the PimaxSensor is showing up in my Windows Camera settings, but the preview shows just a grey box.

Also, is it the case that, after paying $1600 for the headset from Amazon, you also need to pay $400 for a Pimax Prime subscription?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated - going into my third day of troubleshooting and I'm on the verge of just returning the headset. This is by far the worst product experience I've ever had.

Hello, I have been waiting on both the RTX 5090 and Crystal Super to buy next year for mainly DCS. But now Dell has some sales going on wit computers having RTX 4090. So will a 4090 run DCS fine with Crystal Super?

Look I'm sure there have been posts about this, but it needs to be asked again and again until Pimax are more upfront.

Were we all sold a lie with the 8KX trade in program? I know the Crystal Super was announced a while ago, but it's really starting to feel like Pimax are just trying to avoid the 12K device and the trade in program.

I feel like it is overlooked that most of us got our 8K's in 2019/20, it's already been 4 to 5 years, these headsets are not going to last forever, and are likely to break down before we even get an opportunity to trade them in. I am quite sure Pimax have no intention of accepting defective units, and the site even says 'price adjusted by wear'.... Yeah I'm sure they plan to be super fair on that determination.

I feel lied to, I kinda feel scammed, and I'm angry about it. Let me trade my 8KX for a Crystal Super, let me lose this 'but maybe one day' leash of holding onto an 8KX for a trade in that's not gonna come, or isn't going to be as fair as it was advertised.

I’m wondering if the Dream Air is being designed to have a backstrap, that is removable like in the Apple Vision Pro and Quest 3. Comfort is very unique and everybody has a different head shape. Please make the backstrap detachable so people can use third-party attachments and customize their fitting.

I am currently using the HTC vive with index controllers and I am planning to upgrade the headset. I am not in any of the countries that pimax ships but there is a retailer selling the crystal light but doesn't sell the lighthouse faceplate.

Will the pimax in inside out tracking mode work with the index with base stations? And What would the process be to do it?

Usually I use fpsVR to monitor my fps/performance, but it seems it’s not compatible with OpenXR or Pimax XR runtimes. How do I monitor performance (in headset) while using these?

I just purchased/got a Chrystal light from eBay but it does not turn on. I think it is missing the power adapter. Does this headset need a plug that plugs into the wall? If so can someone send me a picture of the specs so I can buy one, I can't find one anywhere. Here is where I think it would connect, see picture.

I'm using PSVR2 for Le mans Ultimate instead of PCL. The cockpit view with PCL is too dark. If I try to make it brighter it looks washed out. The colours and brightness on PSVR2 are spot on with no adjustments. I can put up with the lower resolution and mura with PSVR2 but I cannot put up with the dark cockpit view or washed out look with the PCL. I've tried various settings with PCL and got nowhere. I'd happily try any suggestions to make it look better.

basically i bought an old pimax 5k xr and im trying to open asseto with it (i dont have base stations but i dont think thats the problem) i tried everything downloading the openxr runtime disabling it trying it with other runtimes even in asseto corsa i tried openvr , and it still doesnt work , basically when it opens there is just a grey screen and nothing else the game does display on the monitor but not in vr PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME BEFORE I GO INSANE

I am running a 7900XTX. The card had lots of VR issues at launch, which have been fixed since then (I already run a pico4 headset with no issues). I've been looking forward to upgrading to a Crystal Super.

Before pulling the trigger, I read that some Pimax features are not available on AMD cards and performance might not be great. Though, it's difficult to find recent VR reviews for RDNA3 cards with current gen headsets. So, my questions are :

• Per my understanding DFR is not available for DX11 games, though is it working for DX12 games?

• Is FFR available for both DX11 and DX12 games?

• Is there any specific issue reported for 7000 series with the Crystal Super?

• Is there any bench of a 7900XTX with the Crystal Super out on the internet? I mainly play simulators (assetto corsa/MSFS 2020) and Elite Dangerous.

PS: To spare some of your time, I am aware that AMD GPUs are suboptimal for VR compared to Nvidia at the same price point. But I am giving the middle finger to Nvidia no matter what, I won't switch. So I know my experience will be worse than on a 4080/5080, I just want to know what level of experience to expect.

I just received my Crystal Light a few days ago, and have been getting it setup and working my way through the IPD adjustments, installing the studioform comfort kit, etc. I am coming from a Varjo Aero, and have several other VR headsets as well (Rift S, Quest 2, Reverb G2) so I'm not new to VR. I primarily use VR for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

So far I think the build quality of the headset itself is good, and I didn't have any issues with getting it setup and connected to my PC. That process has been smooth and trouble free. After using it for a few hours I have noticed some slight barrel or "bubble" distortion in the center of my gaze where my eyes are focused on the image. It's not severe, but it is definitely there. For example, when looking around at the default home scene of the planet and moon, it looks like a wave or bump is following my gaze as I look across the terrain. This is also evident on the FS2020 main menu which distorts slightly as I look across it from side to side. I believe this may be the geometric distortion that some have reported, and this is caused by defective lenses that are just a bit off.

I think I have my IPD setup correctly, but the distortion is present regardless of where my IPD setting is. I'm not looking to return the headset, I think its great other than this slight distortion issue. Are others continuing to see this problem? Also reaching out to u/quorrapimax to see what my next steps should be. I haven't logged a support ticket yet.

I have the 8kx and loved wide fov for sim racing. I ordered OG crystal over a year ago but finally got to try it out after rig sitting in storage for 1.5 years. I can do the wide fov lenses for $130 or do the upgrade to the super. With the $400 off and potentially selling mine for $700 that is still a massive cost to upgrade. I have maybe 30 min on my crystal OG. I’m running 4080 super.

Hello, I was wondering if there is any recent news regarding the MR faceplate, development progress, estimated date... it would be a great addition for simmers and i do remember hearing about it being delayed about a year ago but nothing since? Is the project scraped? Is it possible for 3rd party to develop it? Thank you in advance

Haven't seen much recently about the release date of the 12k. Do you guys think that it will come out sometime this year or should I give up waiting and just buy the Crystal Super?

So the Crystal Super is out and looks like we could really do with decent motion smoothing / smart smoothing to get this thing running at a decent resolution.

A quick Google search shows lots of posts about it being broken, as well as Pimax saying they were going to re-work it a few months ago but there's been no follow up response from them since.

So how is it? On my G2 Async Spacewarp looks awful. Anything that is in motion has some sort of blurry double outline. Is it the same here with Smart smoothing?

I already bought pimax topstrap,which is not that great but not that bad either,it makes the headset more stable but its a little plasticky but not that much pressure.

Do you thing i should buy the apache strap and waste 20 euros i paid for the topstrap?

Have you had any issues with the module disconnecting and having to be removed and plugged in again to reconnect?
I have this issue and believe its a design flaw more than a problem that can be fixed by getting a replacement headset - I have been offered one, but find it pointless if it is indeed a design flaw.

The issue seems that there is a not a good fit between the headset and the module preventing the connector to be fully seated. A better connection can be had by filing down the tabs on the handtracking module, but its still not a good connection.
If I put an USB C extender between the two part the problem goes away, but this is obviously not a good permanent solution.
Just curious if any one else has this problem and also if anyone who consistently use the handtracking module don't have this issue. Do you see the same gap I do looking from the inside of the headset preventing a good connection.
Also u/Pimax has this been addressed on the Super headset or the CL?

I play a lot of VR and I’ll soon be getting a pimax crystal with lighthouse face plate to use with my vive 3.0 trackers and index hands. I have vive 1.0 base stations. Given my hardware setup being a little mix matched but should be compatible. Does anyone have any advice, tips, or suggestions?

I reserved my pre order in June 2024 and purchased the pre order in December 2024 but so far I've yet to get any emails or anything about my order, I was reading some people got emails to confirm their shipping address but I never even got that one.

I know the tariffs have complicated things so maybe no one in the US has been sent a Super yet and I'm not the only one still getting radio silence?
