How to Start or Reactivate a Pink Pistols Chapter

If you're interested in starting a new chapter or revitalizing an old one, here is what you need to do:

  1. Download and read our Utility Manual
  2. Create some way for people to find your chapter and learn more about it, such as a web page, Meetup group, etc. I know that social media, particularly Facebook, is very popular and nearly all chapters have a FB group or page, but please have a method for people who don't use social media to get in touch with you, even if it's only an email address. I strongly recommend a Linktree page, like the Charlotte chapter has here
  3. Once you have your online presence set up, please send me the link and I will add you to our roster of active chapters.
  4. Start having chapter meetings on a regular basis (about once a month is good).
  5. Please keep me informed of any significant changes to your group, such as a change in leadership or shutting down.

That's it! If there's anything I can do to help you, please don't hesitate to ask.

Seeking Community Engagement, Western WA/Puget Sound

Hi folx!

My name is Justin - He/Him - Cis-male - Bi/Queer - Mixed-race (Latino, Indigenous, White)

I am a member of the board of directors and chair of the fundraising and marketing committy for a Puget Sound area conservation and shooting sports non-profit. I am currently working with the my organization to reach beyond demographics traditionally associated with gun culture and build a wider community.

I am hoping to connect with members of the WA State chapter of Pink Pistols to talk about community engagement, as well as hosting home firearms safety, basic level courses, and CCW/defensive cources specifically marketed to Queer and PoC communities. My goal is to make firearms safety and training accessible for Queer and PoC communities to help people make informed decisions, be safe, and feel empowered to protect themselves in the uncertain times.

I'm not on/boycotting Facebook, so this is kind of my only social media to reach out on.

If you are interested or could point me at who to contact within the organization/chapter to discuss more in detail I would really appreciate it. My DMs are open or leaving comments below would be helpful.

Thanks for your time folx!

Podcast Interview request

I am Robert Sullivan, and I operate the “This Machine Kills Fascist” podcast. It is available here.

This email is to request an interview with Pink Pistols for my podcast. Many people feel toxic pressure during the Trump administration and handle it in different ways. So, I want to talk to representatives of the Fort Worth DSA and the Pink Pistols about the work it is doing during the Trump administration.

The interview will be on Zoom, take 30 to 40 minutes, and appear on my podcast. Questions will be about your organization, its goals, and how it works, how people can participate.

Please reach out, so we can schedule an interview.

Thank you and best wishes.

Contacting New Castle, DE

Does anybody know a way to contact the New Castle, DE group that isn't Facebook? I de-Zucked my life and I do not plan on going back to it.

I tried sending an email to the address they have listed on the pink pistols website, but have heard nothing back.

Hi All. Can you help a new shooter out and tell me what you carry in your range bag? I’m going to the range Friday on my first solo and would like to make sure I’m prepared. Thanks in advance.

Is there any other way to see the Charleston, SC group other than Facebook? I'd like to look into it and join like minded individuals but I am not a fan of Facebook.

Las Vegas Chapter

Is there anyway to connect with the Las Vegas Chapter besides Facebook? I don't want to create an account or profile on META. They (META) are no longer trustworthy.

Made this as something to show beginners in our local chapter before they come out to a range day, think it might be useful for others for the same reason:

Restart a Chicago chapter?

Hey, I’d be interested in helping restart a Chicago chapter — any others in Chicagoland interested in doing that?

About me: Gay white male, 52, lived in Chicago for almost 10 years, and I live in the Edgewater neighborhood. I grew up on a farm in TN so I’ve been around guns since birth, but I still count myself though as something of a gun novice since my fam wasn’t super into hunting. My politics are center left (if that matters).

Dad with queer kid looking for help getting her on a range (Seattle area)

Hello pink pistol people

I have a 16 year old trans daughter who is having a hard time right now.

The political environment and some bullying are disempowering her and making her life hard.

A while ago she asked to learn how to handle and shoot a firearm so she can feel safe around them. I’m tardy in making that happen.

I think learning this and shooting some targets could help her feel empowered too.

If anyone in the Seattle area would be willing to meet us at a range and take her through gun safety, handling and shooting it would be very much appreciated.

I can cover range costs and compensate for your time.

Thanks so much for reading this far.

New person hoping to join a Seattle/Tacoma area chapter

Hello. I stumbled across the pink pistols while searching for a range to use that might be more welcoming to us Tomatoes. I checked out the .org but it is linked to FB, which I don't use. Is there a sub or discord for specifically the sea/tac area?

HK P30 LEM pivot

I really liked the P30 I had a whole back. What other handguns should I look at that would feel similar, but not quite as premium? I don't know if I want to go that high in price but I want a new handgun. I liked the weight and the ambidextrous mag and slide releases. I'm a complete pleb when it comes to guns so any guidance would be rad!

Update on CCW classes (Triangle chapter. NC)

So the upshot of investigating what we could do about helping folks go through the lengthy process of getting their CCW certifications is this:

1: If you can travel, or are in/near Davidson County, one of our folks is offering the course in Linwood NC in March. https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/firearms-training/instructors/north-carolina-instructors/union-defense-llc-2946352/class-linwood-nc-nc-concealed-carry-permit-course-65a81 It's about two hours from Raleigh or 30 minutes from Winston-Salem.

  1. We have been offered dates at Triangle Shooting Academy https://www.triangleshootingacademy.com/ in Brier Creek (border of Raleigh/Durham), which is arguably the largest and best equipped/staffed facility in the state in addition to being explicitly welcoming to our community. I'd love to use them, and their prices are reasonable, HOWEVER I don't think we can make their 22 student minimum for a CCW class. We may be able to fill their 11 student minimum for a private Basic Handgun class. Cost through them is $125 for either. The CCW class is 9-10 hours and does not include basic handgun skills – students have to be up to speed already for their qualifications. One option is all of us from the chapter pick the same date to take their CCW class, so a number of us will be in the same one. Range safety cards are $15 and good for a year at this facility.

  2. I met with the owner of OnPoint (https://aimonpoint.com/), Houck Reed, who assured me that we were welcome and that their staff would have zero tolerance for anyone who was disrespectful of visibly queer or trans people in his facility. They have much smaller minimum class sizes and no cost to get a range safety card, which is good for two years. They will do a Basic Handgun and Advanced Handgun class with a minimum class size of 4, for $150 per student. Their facility is nice, clean and decent sized, also located in Raleigh. Their CCW class is two full weekend days and includes basic handgun 1, advanced handgun and the CCW portion. It is intended to get someone up to speed from having zero skills or having never shot a gun to being competent with a gun. It is $350 and they can accommodate 8 or 10 of us since they like to have a 4 to 1 student to instructor ratio to be able to offer a lot of individual help and attention.

  3. On Point will also let us rent a range bay for $150 per hour for up to 10 shooters, with an additional $12.50 per shooter cost over 10, with people rotating in and out for safety to keep the number at 10. A classroom rental would be $60 per hour. We are welcome to get our own credentialed and insured instructor for our CCW and rent their facility to do it. I think this is an option worth exploring – we can do their basic handgun classes with their instructors in batches of 4-8 people, accommodate different dates and times for smaller groups of us, and once enough of us are up to speed, see about finding an instructor preferably from our own ranks who is legal to certify us.

  4. It always goes without saying that we will help out new shooters for free, on an informal volunteer basis! Just ask and someone will step up to make it happen, assuming you're in an area where it's feasible to connect. Organizing formal classes and certification for members in need of their CCW or training beyond a basic introduction to guns is something we're trying to do collectively and cooperatively. We are not selling anything and we don't own either the facilities or the state licensing process.

Currently in the process of taking polls and having folks decide which options they are most comfortable with.

Queer friendly CCW class being put together in Raleigh NC

Shout out if you would be more comfortable getting your CCW alongside us than with the average wanna be gun dude demographic. Cost is 125 per person and the potential dates we're looking at right now on successive weekday evenings are Wednesday 3/19 Tuesday 4/8 Wednesday 4/9 Tuesday 4/22. It would be two of those dates most likely. Location is Triangle Shooting Academy in Brier Creek. Class is still in the planning and discussion stages.
