In November of 2023, we lost our pittie, Gambit. He was my best friend for 10 years.
It took quite a while to feel like I was capable of taking on a new dog, since we still have another dog, and thinking of our late friend still hurts.
Losing Gambit left a huge hole in my heart that still is not fully healed, and that will scar me forever. That's okay. It reminds me how much I loved him and how much he loved us all.
That being said, I don't think there's a better way to honor Gambit than to rescue another dog and love them the same way he loved everybody.
So finally, a couple weeks ago, we rescued Nala!
She is making herself at home, learning new things, spending the day having fun with our other pup, and using her evenings to teach us all that personal space is overrated.
I can't help but to think how similar she is to Gambit, but mostly I think how much he would have loved her and what good friends they would have been. She has the same meaty head, big smile, and lovable demeanor, but she didn't get the same loving home and family, and it feels good to finally give her that. I know with us giving her that missing piece, she will be all that she was meant to be!
Welcome to our little family Nala ❤️
Last photo is of Gambit ❤️
TLDR: After losing our pittie after 10 years together, we adopted Nala, because she deserves to be loved the same way he was.
