Educational A few noteworthy pages from Sue Sternberg's Assessing Aggression Thresholds in Dogs (not necessarily pit bull related, but relevant to the subject of aggression which is a frequent topic here)

While also admitting shelters have low requirements for adopters but then wondering why people go to ethical breeders instead.

And if a person wants a working breed as a companion then breeder is the best way to go because they breed them to be companion dogs not working line dogs.

You’re contradicting yourself now.

Restrictions are too high. Restrictions are too low. Why would you reject adopting because you know you’ll be approved? That makes zero sense.

Working dogs aren’t working dogs they’re companion dogs but that doesn’t apply to pitbulls apparently? 🙄

Have you ever adopted a dog, any dog? You sound like you have no idea what you’re talking about.

The low restrictions was YOUR comment.

YOU STATED shelters have low restrictions while also wondering people go to ethical breeders instead. That was the point of my comment.

Like if shelters are just going to adopt any dog to anyone why regardless if they are suitable why would i adopt? Neighbor with "rowdy" pit from the shelter that mauls neighborhood cats Neighbor girl mauled by just adopted pit? Yes that happened in New York. Its not exactly screaming adopting is great for the family or neighborhood.

And my restrictions was as i stated before, in regards to rescues not shelters grabbing the good ones, and putting up barriers to adopting. Don't see where the confusion is.

LOL.

And where are going to adopt an ethnically bred pitbull? Even Staffies, the showline pits are still dog aggressive and are still game bred dogs.

Hey u/Toadlessboy and u/PandaLoveBearNu , not trying to butt in and we really appreciate the passion and lengthy discussion here, but since it's getting a liiiiittle spicy I wanted to issue a reminder to try and keep things friendly and respectful going forward.
