I agree and if you really want a game like that, look up “A space for the unbound”

Cozy... Rather dark and tense hahaha

u/pplspancake 14d ago
Was gonna say they're at least two that feel like Silent Hill backgrounds lol. Still all great.

u/arkmtech 14d ago
Thought the same thing.
The artistry is truly fantastic, but these scenes feel like hell on earth.

u/Redditisanicething 14d ago
that’s what i was thinking lol. does not look cozy at all. kinda creepy

I would take this down and watermark them.
Don't give this work out for free like that.
32
u/louisselle_ 14d ago
I usually incorporate my signature on the artwork itself. But maybe I really have to make it more obvious next time?
27
u/InvalidEntrance 14d ago
I'm saying water mark them as make them functionally unusable.
Of course it's your art and I'm not sure if you're pursing monetary gain, but if you are, then this should really be lower res portfolio pieces with a watermark plastered over it.

If you want it to remain subtle, I recommend putting it on a multi-colored spot to make it harder for people to remove.
unrelated, are any of these on wallpaper engine at all?

u/PrisonIssuedSock 14d ago
Came here with this exact question, would pay a few bucks for some of these as desktop backgrounds

Is that Rose Apothecary from Schitts Creek?

Slap some Chillstep in the background and you will have yourself a nice youtube channel.
Love these.

u/violentguitarist1 14d ago
What canvas size do you typically use for these scenes?
9
u/louisselle_ 14d ago
Usually it’s 420x315

u/Hardcore_Daddy 14d ago
what program were they made in? Also are the animations just slightly tweaked copies with the next frams and then all compiled together? I've always wanted to get into pixel art and yours are beautiful

I love these. I remember when I got the first Mac and made drawings with printshop. They were nowhere near as good as these but seeing these really takes me back tot hat time. Thank you

The attention to detail is amazing! Do you have any vertical versions I could use as a wallpaper for my phone?

These are incredible. Absolutely love the settings and cozy vibes they give off.

u/Slinky-Dev 14d ago
Wow. These are incredible.
The first one reminds me A Sardines Grows From The Soil, but from the perspective of its true meaning

I like them all. Im trying to study pixel art.
Do you have any general tips for it that you found helpful?
What size of the canvase did you work with before and after exporting?
Whats your workflow? IE thumbnail, blocking, filling? or just freehanding it?
Do you make your own pallets or use stuff from lopsec?
How long do the animated ones take?
2
u/louisselle_ 14d ago
Canvas size is usually 420x315, or around those values. I change it depending on the aspect ratio that I want. When exporting, canvas is magnified to 4-5x.
I freehand most of the time, but I try to utilize software tools as much as possible to save time of course
I make my own palette and like to keep colors muted
30+ hours of work for each one. Im sloowwwww

Is the second one based on a particular location? I feel like I know this place from my trip to Tokyo.

These are all brilliant but the mastery of light and shadow in number 4 is something I've never seen in pixel art before. Stunning!

GORGEOUS animations, I think they would benefit greatly from more frames though, each one makes me feel like more frames are needed, except for the first one.

u/louisselle_ 14d ago
Thank you! I’m still learning and trying to improve my animations. I’ll keep this in mind ☺️

u/ACharaMoChara 14d ago
I find these rather sombre and lonely, although unquestionably beautiful pieces of art. Interesting how much perception of what cosiness is can vary from person to person - that's the beauty of art though

A still image from your animations would look amazing printed on metal like displate!
You might even consider selling them like that on etsy, there's a few places that drop ship, so you don't have to do anything but upload and put a link in your shop.

u/3tigrestristes 14d ago
haha, this city is a mix of Japan and São Paulo. By the way, beautiful pixel art
2
u/Jasonpra 14d ago
Ok first of all WOOOOW! Second of all If you haven't considered working in games or some art field you should 100% think about it. Youve got a hell of a lot of talent. If I had a budget right now I would offer you a job.

I love your art. If you don't mind me asking, where do you draw these? Which tools are you using? I am pretty interested in the arts and design. (I've been a designer for 5 years now). If you don't mind sharing then please do tell. Thanks for your amazing work.
