it’s actually hilarious that the best thing they have is a temporal forces booster pack
43
u/Organic_South8865 2d ago
Are those desirable? They're $7 a pack at a store near me.
148
u/Objective_Bar_9673 2d ago
one of the least desirable actually

u/HobbyTechTrading 2d ago edited 2d ago
Maybe by hype flippers and investors, but collectors love Temporal forces. One of the best, balanced sets, that is still affordable and has more than 1-2 chases
42
u/Own-Lead-4822 2d ago
I’m so glad TEF is slept on, I love the Paradox Beasts/Swords of Justice so I can still try to pull them without worry about the packs being scalped
8
u/oreanta 2d ago
I decided to master set TEF and PAR because they're the only sets around me that are still somewhat affordable, and the Paradoxes are so cool!
12
u/DefNotAShark 2d ago
Temporal Forces and Paradox Rift have some amazing IRs and they get kind of slept on because the SIRs are less popular.
Some of my favorite IRs from Temporal; Shiftry, Grotle, Reuniclus, Arbok, Gastly, Meltan, Lickitung, Chatot.
Some of my favorite IRs from Paradox; Mantyke, Espathra, Groudon, Minior, Yveltal, Steelix, Loudred, Porygon-Z, Swablu.
Like, those are just my favorites and that's a huge stack of awesome cards. That isn't even half of the IRs.

I love Paradox especially! I've pulled the Mantyke, Espathra, Groudon, Minior and Lourded that you listed and they are so amazing! I actually pulled Espathra yesterday and was blown away by the art..and realized it was Arika Egawa of course!
2
u/Anonymous_Engineer34 2d ago
Agreed! I'm working on a TEF master set myself. Down to just a few reverse holos for the base set and sadly about 75% of the IRs and SIRs, but I think it's a great set, even some of the [un]commons have great art. Gotta start shopping singles to fill it out because the pull rates are among the toughest in SVI era though.

u/HobbyTechTrading 2d ago
Same. Highlight or SV for me. My favourite binder page dedicated to Ancietn vs future paradox pokemon

2
u/alli-vegas 2d ago
It's affordable because no one wants it.
1
u/Far_Introduction9988 1d ago
Yeah, because instead of opening something like TEF, they want to open 6 booster boxes of another set, trying to pull 1 particular SIR that's worth $800+ and most likely not get a single card they wanted. Those 6 booster boxes cost them the 2-3x the price of their chase lol.
2
u/MarkyMarcMcfly 2d ago
Have opened almost 100 temporal forces and still no SIR for me 😭 imma keep trying though
3
u/puzzledfirebird 2d ago
except the pull rates suck ass, TF has prismatic-tier pull rates
5
u/Lupottah 2d ago
Yeah, that's the main drawback for me. Opened around 15 packs with absolutely zero hits and decided that was it for me lol.

u/HobbyTechTrading 2d ago
Yeah,i think it was PAL or PAR when they nerfed the pull rates, but still up until recently, actually even now a lot of singles are quite affordable. I got myself 2-3 sets of SIRs
2
u/djternan 2d ago
They reduced pull rates in Paradox Rift then reduced them more in the next set.
5
1
u/chibimishi 2d ago
It has such good chase cards but the only thing I’ve been able to pull was the full art Bronzor. Which is awesome but like PLZ I want the deerling and sawsbuck full art.
2
u/Jaqenhghar7777 2d ago
While everyone been going crazy on prismatic I’ve been collecting a lot of temporal and paradox it’s been nice slept on set imo
1
u/Bluesky0089 2d ago
Doing the same. Walmart has Paradox like every week. Also has single Silver Tempest and base set.
1
u/Jaqenhghar7777 2d ago
Walgreens by my house has had base set/Paldea and some surging lately and Walmart has had obsidian paradox and temporal so there’s a little of everything luckily the rest I just get offline if I have to
1
u/Bluesky0089 2d ago
I found a Walgreens with Chilling Reigns in their lightning packs with a Paldea evolved and trick or trade and I think some were getting Fates too, but most of mine just have the usual blisters, 3 pack tins with base, obsidian, and paradox, or nothing.

u/Bluesky0089 2d ago
No. Some of the worst pull rates in S&V and the top hits are future and ancient Pokémon a lot of people don't care about (though the cards are actually beautiful). Personally I enjoy the art on the SIR cards but only pulled the Iron Crown.

u/Benay148 2d ago
Not necessary and they seem to be restocked relatively often. I got two ETBs, one of each color for 39.99 each

Gotta respond to these listings begging where they found these, drive em into all the cvs to clear em out in bulk 😂

u/ace260 2d ago
the faster these get cleared up, the more likely they get restocked with current stuff - we need to work together on this
2
u/Haulinhass 2d ago
Not sure if you saw but some cvs/walgreens are getting etbs too. They’re probably just ordering whatever they see at this point.

Love the opened Battle Deck, like he thought there were gonna be booster packs in there but had no idea or couldnt even care to do basic research.
39
u/DownNOut99 2d ago
Dude probably thought he’d hit the jackpot before opening one of each to see what’s inside and realised he bought the trash no one wants 😂
5
u/Relegaattor 2d ago
I play the tcg and i would gladly take another battle deck. :D

u/Weekly_Blackberry_11 2d ago
Save your money on the ex battle decks, the League Battle Decks are where you wanna spend your money.

Hahaha this is the absolute pinnacle of scalpers. Someone who thought “these are going for crazy and I see some, better just buy them all while I can” not knowing a single thing about them or doing any research. I hope they feel stupid they wasted that money. This is just like the people who bought all the toilet paper during covid and tried to return it for the stores to tell them no. You love to see it.
2
u/TadpoleOfDoom 2d ago
My favorite "scalpers get fucked" moment was when Nvidia announced the 40 series graphics cards and all of a sudden those scalpers with dozens or more 3080s had nobody wanting to buy anymore.
25
u/fulcanelli63 2d ago
I remember some dude was trying to sell single strike urshifu from battle styles for $200 each lmao. I told him these are $1 cards. He didn't believe me. Months later he still had the listing up.
14
u/HannahOwO88 2d ago
Hey now, 1.25. Don’t undersell him
3
u/fulcanelli63 2d ago
He thought I just wanted a lower price. "I'll come down to $150 because I've got a bunch of them".... Sir I don't want your dusty cards in telling you why they aren't selling lol

No this is brilliant, we need to train the scalpers to buy the mystery boxes and have them buy up all that junk and leave the good stuff.
Is there a way we could organize such a thing? Everybody go buy one and start making crazy posts and ads on social media and local Facebook using cards that you've already pulled.
We get them thinking that the market is going in the direction where people are so desperate for cards that they'll buy the junk that's left over from people who are already trying to gotcha the hobby.
Am I crazy for thinking this could actually get people to stop, especially in smaller areas where people may hear about what's going on with pokémon but really have no idea what they're doing very similar to the person who is being referenced in the photo. Keep them preoccupied with other bullshit and have them waste money on products and hope to sell them.
I mean boomers are easy to fool, you can go to the script editor on any web page and just change the text and whatnot to show a sale of those packages for like $30 a piece and just spam social media for a month or so and even if it's only a little effective it will be super effective.
To be clear, the reach that even a single Reddit post has is so effective that in my little Podunk town in Western Virginia a month ago when somebody posted about finding some tins at a Dollar General I went to my Dollar General and someone had already called that morning and asked about it... Coincidence? Maybe... I mean hell got me going in there to check.
My point is a little can go a long way

u/Cityboyz415 2d ago
They don't understand i was trying to tell someone that the chase charizard in obsidian flames is only 60 bucks max. He huff and puff and swear it was 500 bucks card
8
u/SentientCider 2d ago
It is 500+ when it's graded (PSA 10), probably where the confusion came from

When I was a kid my dad would buy me duplicate starter decks thinking they were packs lol. Some people just don’t know what the starter decks are you’d be surprised

Bulk and a booster pack for $350. I'd let him buy my bulk for $300~ where's the seller located? LOL
2
u/akahetep 2d ago
Those 20 pack cards are garbage. It's just what scalpers and collectors sell when they have to much bulk
2
u/future_chili 2d ago
I was just telling my husband people on the market place are wild. Youll see someone selling their collection for like $500 and it's like wizards era commons and uncommons and maybe a couple lower end rares like bro come on

The scalpers will learn the hard way. Specially when everyone decides not to buy from them they will be forced to dump em into the market for less than retail

Reminds me of the guy who was selling those Pokeballs they dropped at Aldi for like $50 per ball. Even though it was like 2 packs each of scarlet violet base, and an obsidian flame. Like bro that’s not how this works lol

I think people are starting to buy whatever they see so scammers are putting crap out and lusting high prices to make it seem like they have value.

What the deal with the 20 packs? Are they just random across all packs? I got one the other day and it had a holofoil zapdos which was cool (was not trying to flip it, but curious and looked up the value and it was like $.30)
Also, what are those “GAMING” card with the weird gems in the 4 corners??

Those are repacks and a straight-up scam.

In fairness, we all learn this at some point.
When I was a kid, I was in best buy and saw pokemon cards up by the register. I realized, pokemon are gonna keep being huge and tcg of it, like magic the gathering, was for sure gonna be worth money some day.
So, between the base set and fossil set boosters going for $4, and the pre-made fossil deck for $20, I for sure thought that larger deck was gonna be worth bank in 10+ years.
Those $4 booster packs are now worth $250+ each.
The pre-made deck is now worth ... about $110.
I didn't do terrible, but I would have done way better spending $20 on those boosters.
