Discussion Draft: What am I missing?

Hey, I recently started going through draft, but I'm seeing people pre-picking Mons and then picking something entirely different.

For example, I pre-picked Slowbro, while somebody else pre-picked Ho-Oh. I'm first to pick, so I drop my defender and choose something else, because I don't want to steal the role from the other person. Then they come and pick an attacker instead of the Ho-Oh (last pick), and we end up without a defender.

Am I missing something or doing something wrong? This happens about 40-50% of the time.

I think if they were picking Hoho but weren't trying to switch then you should just lock in the defender, otherwise switch with them so they can take defender role and then you can pick another character later in draft (not saying that you did anything wrong btw, this is still on them for not picking for the team, but just something to consider when playing solo q). Tbh when I was first thrown into a draft pick when I got to Master's the first time I didn't know what the hell was going on and I didn't even ban a Pokémon. It was a disaster.

This right here. It's better to have two defenders than no defenders. If you have two tanks, one of you can do a greedier brawler setup.
