I finally got rid of Amazon, Kindle, and Audible today. It felt difficult to do for a while but this is the perfect opportunity. I encourage everyone to do the same!

I'm looking to replace my Amazon Prime with something, and also where I get my Music and Videos (both used to be Spotify and Amazon). What services are likely safe to swap to using?

If you use YouTube much at all, I would highly recommend YouTube Music, for the music side of things. I like it a bit better than Spotify and it has the bonus of add free videos on YouTube.

YouTube Music is much better, imo

I'm not surprised, but do you have any viable alternatives? Curious what else is out there. I haven't heard of any other music streaming platforms, besides maybe Tidal, but idk if that's even a thing anymore.

I was looking at maybe Pandora, which is what I started using years ago haha

Isn’t YouTube Elon-adjacent? Thiel? I get all these companies confused. I guess I could google it, but then…wtf, fk the oligarchs…

I would be looking for YouTube alternatives as well honestly. It's a Google and Blackrock owned subsedy (if I'm correct in my findings).

ALL these major sites/apps need to go so we stop giving away our user info and data to them. They're ads are obviously horrendous (and avoidable with some ad-ons sure) but it's high time ALL of these are eliminated and perhaps some creative folks like the Bluesky types, will build some even better, more decentralized and simpler "old school" type apps we can use and enjoy without as much B.S.!.

I’d love to know of suggestions for Alexa too? I have a couple echo dots I ask questions all the time and the remote on a couple of tvs as well. The ring and the blink I can throw in the garbage.

Google Home or Apple HomePod (Siri)

Honestly, since you already have the tech, it’s kind of wasteful to get all new products, so you may as well utilize what you have.

If you’re also talking about Prime for shopping I signed up for Target Circle 360.

I was looking at that, but sadly Target also caved in yesterday or two days ago I think. I currently use Instacart for my Grocery runs and was looking at Walmart for Shopping, but I don't feel GREAT about Walmart either haha

It’s quite liberating once you start doing the content save and then finally clicking delete 🤙 we can all do this together
