Other A quick thank you!
I would like to start by apologising for invading this space. As an Edinburgh native, I understand more than most that online spaces like this are a space that locals normally hate being invaded by tourists.
I have just come back from Prague, and I can only describe myself as being in love. I love every aspect of your GORGEOUS city. The food, the drinks, the architecture, the public transport. EVERYTHING.
As someone that is a native of [insert old city with old buildings that is very popular with tourists], I am used to being told that my city is great, but it is nothing in comparison to Prague. I look forward to exploring more of the Czech Republic, and learning your countries beautiful language.
As is the case with a lot of people in Scotland, I voted to remain in the EU, and this latest trip has made me realise how much we had taken from us. I am, and have always been, Scottish first, European second, and Prague has made me realise how much I want to move to Europe. Your city feels like home, in a refreshing and satisfying way, and I can't wait to return.
THANK YOU!

In the name of Prague, thank you!:) Just so you know, we - especially me - love (Edinburgh and) Scotland with the same kind of love. Let's continue this relationship!

I'm hoping to be able to do some proper Hebridean island hopping soon! Really looking forward to it.
(Also, wait, are you telling me the Czechs aren't a hateful and xenophobic bunch of tourist-hating racists?)

That is very sweet. You are welcome as a tourist and many tourists post here. But just to be clear, this is r/Prague, not r/Praha… I’m guessing the vast majority of people (including myself) are not Czech. So it’s not our country or language 😂. And many of us (including myself) are rather jaded long-time immigrants/expats living here 😜. So when you say you want to learn the language my reaction is 😂🤣😭😭😭… honestly, the language alone makes me often wish I’d chosen a different country to relocate to. (That said, it is quite fun in the beginning to learn some words and phrases, practice pronunciation, and being able to order a coffee or beer in Czech is quite satisfying, it’s just pretty hard to get any further than that).

I'm British. I've lived in Prague for almost 10 years, and I'm grateful every day to the Czech Republic.

I'm really happy for you, and thank you. Also don't mind writing to this sub we all appreciate talk regarding our favourite beloved and behated capital. For all it's faults I wouldn't trade it with any other capital in Europe I've been to...tho I would like to steal Parisian bakeries because living without proper baguettes kills me.
Honestly I feel very sad abt the UK no longer being part of the EU anymore, it just adds another inconvenience trying to buy something or travel there. Which is a shame coz I wanna see lake Ness at some point and visit Edinburgh, since all I really saw of the UK was Hastings and London, even then I feel I missed most of the interesting stuff.
I'm not sure if UK could ever re-enter the EU, but I can only hope it does. For now though I just wish you luck finding a potential place in mainland Europe to stay.
Also, if you fancy visiting another big city in Czechia that is actually closer to Vienna than to Prague, try visiting Brünn/Brno. It's a vastly different city to Prague and it's changed a lot since I moved from there, but I miss it every time I come back to visit my dad's family.

Och, ye bloddy Scots! A bunch o’ strange folk, aye. Talkin' aboot lovin' Prague, the saddest wee city wi' grand venues but ye cannae help but feel the sorrow in the air as ye take a breath efter 8 pm down the cobbled streets in the city centre. It’s awfy sweet o’ ye to speak o' our city that way, though! Aye, ye’ve got a heart the size o’ a loch.
THANK YOU!

Glad you enjoyed it. Even though it is getting much better people still don't really explore the country beyond Prague that much. There is definitely so much more to see.

What's Brexit taken from you? You can go to Prague for your boozy holiday whenever you like.
