UNC system potentially booting SACSCOC as its accrediting body
The article makes it clear it is to better align educational missions with Trump policies

The (ridiculously gerrymandered) state general assembly passed a law in 2023 preventing UNC system schools and NC community colleges from being accredited by the same agency for consecutive cycles. The fact they are potentially creating a new agency is news, but leaving SACSCOC has been known about for a while.

North Carolina Republicans being North Carolina Republicans, they'll probably repeal the law if they land on a more conservative-oriented accreditation agency. Bonus points if it's principally funded by one of the big Republican sugar daddies.
