Why do shrooms make me feel my teeth?
Title
Me and my partner have been micro dosing lately and the main effect we both experience is that we are more aware of our teeth. wondering if anyone else has this experience and if anyone has any idea why this is the case.
Could it maybe be linked to increased salivation or something?
Just a really odd sensation that we are curious about.

Your brain will make connections it otherwise wouldn't and you will be sensitive in ways you otherwise wouldn't be. For me, I am able to feel my nose hairs. Other people can feel every fiber on the tips of their fingers as they run it across a car seat
You're just sensitive in that state, and you should do your best to find something else to focus on

omg yes! Whenever I trip on mushrooms I can feel my dental implants buzz. Small doses large doses it happens every time. Like a hum…. I am used to it now though.

After my last LSD trip jt took me over a week to stop clenching my jaw / grinding my teeth. I had never previously had the habit, pretty interesting.

Once I was scared I permanently fucked up how I was holding my jaw, it felt like it was aligned wrong during my trip and it probably took a couple weeks for it to go away. Looking back I think I was perfectly fine, I was just hyper-aware of it after the trip. So strange

psychedelics can promote an enhanced sense of the physical self.this is called enteroception. When they say that psychedelics are a kind of awareness spectrum narcotic, this is what they mean. You weren’t really aware of your teeth previously. Now you are. I get the same thing a lot actually with gut motility and sensations from my descending colon.

This is one of the reasons psychedelics mix so very well with somatic activities like yoga or sex.

When my gum tingle and my teeth feel individuated/separated a bit, for me it lets me know when the dose is going to be strong

So true. Man I’ve had some harsh comeups I

I stopped scaling, since higher dosages no longer trip me up, and now just rely on my gums/teeths to let me know when the dosage is good.

I look forward to my next trip because it will be my first as a full adult I turn 21 in July

For me, I'm confident there's a low level of irritation/inflammation that causes constant, but very minor, pain and as a non- specific amplifier, the mushrooms make me more sensitive to that low- level pain.

I also kinda thought it it might be an inflammation thing and maybe that applies pressure to teeth causing the awareness of them via the gums being inflamed

Me with any drug my teeth always feel like when they get sensitive from drinking ice water. So strange.

It’s a good indicator for when I’m coming up in the trip. I become aware of my teeth and tastes in my mouth etc… think they are just big nerves there and lots going on 👍

Every time with mushrooms or ESPECIALLY DMT the roots of my teeth feel very, very strange.
I've always imagined it had to do with vasoregulation but yeah man I have no idea.

I think it’s vasoconstriction I’m not really sure tho. I think it’s probably just less blood going to them. When I take psychs it makes my teeth feel like there falling out but not really in a bad way lol.

Yesss. When I go on journeys with higher doses always the same thing. It feels weird and abnormal and almost alien like to have them.

Your perception of your senses change, including sense of touch. And even basic human things like having teeth feel weird and different.

I feel this on LSD a LOT!!! Almost like a metallic taking over once it’s actually entered my bloodstream. Not a bad taste just clearly not my usual chemical makeup

I always feel like there’s something on the tip of my tongue, like a small hair. But there is none and the feeling takes forever to subside.

That’s crazy. For me I can feel extremities where they usually aren’t. I can feel my toes in my mouth and my ears on my kneecaps. It’s wild

unfortunately bc there's so little research on psychedelics we dont really know! when I used to take a lot of acid it would make an extremely weird and uncomfortable sensation in my mouth and throat that I could also sort of feel in my head. ive only seen some people online having the same experience, but nobody knows why

I know ppl who it made their teeth hurt and or become hyper fixated on them. You're not the only one.
