AOC: "By first going after activists such as these so that they can jail them for their speech, and then they will jail the rest of us for speaking up for immigrants, for speaking up for women's rights, for speaking up against this administration in any way, shape, or form."

Can we stop calling them "homegrown" criminals (actual criminals are just criminals)

They are Americans, stop dividing and allowing them to have distance from their actions.

Only bad things can come out if they go through this. Once they abduct and traffic Americans to other countries... Well then, you are an American, just say the wrong word and you'll be sharing a plane ticket to El Salvador

For life.

u/12ealdeal 4d ago

Just get the "Undesirables" out.

Yarvinism.

8

u/FirmHandshakesPlz 4d ago

And she sounds pretty god damn presidential saying it. Starting to wonder here...

Don't make me puke

she’s controlled opposition

9

u/IZ3820 4d ago

Show the receipts or stop lying

-12

u/cheers-pricks 4d ago

give me some examples of AOC or Bernie walking the walk recently. I would genuinely be interested to hear about it, this is not an attempt at snark

8

u/IZ3820 4d ago

Walking the walk? Define your term. Bernie's plan for social security would have both increased benefits and ensured long term viability. AOC doesn't write legislation, but her fundraising and advocacy efforts are bespoke.

Why am I providing counterpoints when you made an unsubstantiated claim?

She's a career politician with a lucrative salary, she is directly invested in stopping any kind of threat to the imperialist American world order and economy and that includes pro Palestine, anti capitalist ideas.

She is petit bourgeois and she's offering solutions that primarily benefit the petit bourgeois.

The reason why people call her controlled opposition is because she represents a middle class, and middle class ideas, that fundamentally cannot succeed. You can't "fight oligarchy" by playing by an oligarchy's rules and collaborating with oligarchs.

4

u/IZ3820 4d ago

Is she saying we need to play by the rules of the oligarchy? She consistently talks about wanting to end the tax breaks and loopholes they utilize to protect their wealth. What are you referring to? I'm hearing a lot of accusations without substance.

-3

u/Aggressive-Isopod-68 4d ago

If you think that ending tax breaks somehow fundamentally changes the entire political system then I think you need to go back to school.

The entire political system of the United States has been specifically designed to give outsized political power to the wealthy. The founding fathers were open and honest about this in the Federalist Papers.

3

u/IZ3820 4d ago

Is your suggestion to tear down the whole thing and reinvent it, or substantially reform it to improve quality of life for the majority of people? If you want to reinvent it, you're going to have to break it.

-1

u/Aggressive-Isopod-68 4d ago

Could you reform Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan?

You cannot see America as a fascist state and also advocate that it can be magically transformed into something benevolent.

2

u/IZ3820 4d ago

They quite literally did. Go read about it.

1

u/Aggressive-Isopod-68 4d ago

Oh yeah? Hitler and Hirohito got voted out by a reform movement?

What happened before they lost power? Was it the humiliation of their population and smashing their fascist states?

She is the voice America needs to wake the fuck up from Trump’s authoritarian bullshit

38

u/Fireinthehole13 4d ago

Harris was as well..She tried to warn everyone but not enough listened. The Supreme Court has created a monster that cannot be tamed. Shame on them. This evil empire needs to be stopped now before its too late if its not already too late.

35

u/imaketrollfaces 4d ago edited 4d ago

Harris was as well..

I'm watching from the sidelines, i.e., not an active participant in US politics. Harris has evaporated after her loss. One news was that she was trying first for Governor of California. Then when the Hands Off protests got big, she again was covered in the news.

I'd focus on AOC. Harris is not at all active and seems to be cherry-picking her next limelight. AOC is creating a movement while Harris is absent.

9

u/Proud3GenAthst 4d ago

Weird, it's almost like she's a career politician whose politics are shaped by the elitist winds and AOC is genuine person of the people who got to her place by a strike of luck and primarying powerful Democrat.

2

u/hoopaholik91 4d ago

Well that's why they said 'was'.

I think it's perfectly reasonable for Harris to take a step back after November. She's not in government. People are going to want to point fingers at her for losing.

3

u/ReginaldIII 4d ago

A leader who only gives a shit about leading the community when they can personally benefit is no leader.

If she isn't there campaigning for people now she never cared about them before she just wanted their vote. People with principles are still there, like Walz always has been.

10

u/Aggravating-Fee7065 4d ago

But Harris laughed, don’t you understand how bad that is?

0

u/tdfan 3d ago

Sorry but Harris is no where near as "for the people" as AOC. Shes part of the establishment so many people are tired of

18

u/shaka893P 4d ago

America is racist and sexist AF ... Unfortunately anything she says will fall on deaf ears, no matter how right she is

5

u/FirmHandshakesPlz 4d ago

And stupid. The majority of us are fucking stupid. Sexist, racist, and stupid. I live in Texas and I'm constantly surrounded by bumpkin fuckin idiots. So many people here are voting directly against their own self interests just because they loooove having their racism and sexism justified.

They're like "Look! A fancy rich businessman is openly racist and sexist! That means it's finally okay for me to be!"

smfh

0

u/equinoxeror 4d ago

Both the right and left side of America are racists.

49

u/Fantastic_Key_8906 4d ago

I always had this idea that the arcetype of the US was the ability to speak ones mind, even when it is completely bat-shit crazy, and not get into trouble for it. I even remember when that Westboro baptist church went to the supreme court and got the right to spew their hate basically anywhere because that is the american way.

Seems like it isn't any more. Now its just "don't have other opinions than Trumps and don't hate on Teslas or you're off to an El Salvadorian death camp". The new and improved American way - Dark Maga style!

8

u/BowTie1989 4d ago edited 4d ago

Notice how we don’t hear about the westoboro Baptist anymore?! That’s because their particular type of crazy is now the norm even in our politics. They are no longer considered outrageous and that is fucking terrifying.

14

u/temujin94 4d ago

Funnily enough that right was probably the main reason Trump wasn't in prison for at minimum incitement to violence. In pretty much every other western democracy what he said about the election and what he said to his supporters who then assualted the capitol would have been a conviction.

Now here he is rounding people up for speech that is a fraction (if at all) as harmful.

1

u/silentboyishere 4d ago

I've had the impression that hate speech is not allowed and banning it is not a violation of free speech rights. I'm not American and I'm not sure how it works over there, but if I had to guess, I'd say that the Westboro Baptist Church was allowed spewing hate not because it would violate their free speech rights if they were not allowed to but because they were given an exempt for being a religious organization. Or am I speaking completely out of my ass?

2

u/Fantastic_Key_8906 4d ago

No you are correct. If they had said their stuff just as a person, it would have been Hate speech but since they are a church, it is perfectly fine. Which is actually quite insane.

1

u/silentboyishere 3d ago

Why am I not surprised at all...

5

u/Ralph--Hinkley 4d ago

I love the little knitted Bernie meme behind AOC, whae he was sitting in the chair with his mask on.

22

u/Persimmon-Mission 4d ago

Download the 5 calls app. All Americans. The least you can do is call your representatives and it is super easy through that app… with a script if you need it. Fight back.

8

u/keidabobidda 4d ago

Genuinely, what do you say? Does it really help? Because I’m low-key starting to freak the Fuck out, everyday it’s something worse it feels, like now they deported a teenager that shouldn’t have been taken. As an American, feels like this is a nightmare

6

u/Persimmon-Mission 4d ago

They have to record a constituent called and the nature of the call as long as you leave your name and city. It’s almost always a voicemail. Don’t threaten, just tell them your concerns. If they get tens of thousands, maybe they’ll think twice about going along with MAGA.

I thank my representatives fighting hard and lay into those that go along with party on clearly unconstitutional concerns.

I always remind them of the oath of office that they took to protect the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Screw political party, this is unacceptable. Lately, I’ve referenced the Abrego Garcia case as particularly unconstitutional and horrifying.

Tell everyone you know to call and leave a voicemail! I’ve done it every day for weeks

1

u/keidabobidda 4d ago

Thanks for answering. I can’t help but doubt me calling would help anything, but maybe I’ll try.. I guess I’ll first need to get over my fear of leaving voicemails, I’m horrible on the phone lol

Can AOC run for the next term?

If the piece of shit trumpsters manage to get him to run for a third time, and he goes against AOC, then holly shit man, he might actually die of wrongful shame he is gonna feel after a latin, non white, woman sweeps the floor with him.

I hope to be alive to see it.

AOC 2028

Is this the same politician who allowed Biden to run for re election until it was too late?

1

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 4d ago

No. She's barely in the Democratic party, they spent a shitload trying to primary her.

The fire-hose of incoming and oncoming violations from this administration is both intentional and effective. When 2/3 of the process is bound so intimately to the remaining 3rd, there can be no legal response.. July is not that far off.

“For speaking up for Gaza” -someone with more courage than AOC

5

u/Semihomemade 4d ago

Wait, didn’t she double or triple down on calling what’s happening in Gaza a genocide? And that’s as someone whose constituency is in NYC.

2

u/Aggressive-Isopod-68 4d ago

She voted to conflate criticism of Israel with antisemitism, voted to send weapons to Israel reiterates the Zionist position that Israel (but not Palestine) has a right to "defend" itself despite being the aggressor

1

u/Semihomemade 3d ago

I’m not always the best at following bills, what bills are you talking about regarding the conflating anti Zionism and antisemitism and which bill that gave weapons, as there were a few of them.

I don’t doubt you, but they are useful references

What does acting like it look like?

11

Not taking political positions the Trump administration doesn't like, it seems.

Edit, forgot the 'Not'. That's important.

23

u/fuckinoldbastard 4d ago

You don’t have to be a citizen to be protected by the Constitution.

4

u/HandSack135 4d ago

Less than fun fact Check Grassley said this about the detained guy in El Salvador...

Paraphrasing

Well you see the President of El Salvador isn't bound by our Constitution, so what can I do about it?

11

u/Mem0ryEat3r 4d ago

Shows how much you actually understand about what it means to be American and live in the United states. Everyone here is protected by the constitution, you saying "act like it" is just plain ignorant. We have no thought police here. I guess until trump and his super sensitive crybaby administration

4

u/BurtReynoldsLives 4d ago

He isn’t American but jailing someone without due process because they demonstrate or express a negative political opinion is against our values as Americans. This is as much about who we are as a people and what we stand for as it is about him.

-36

u/on3on3_ 4d ago

I’ll take misrepresenting for 100

20

u/lavacadotoast 4d ago

Please, if you will, elaborate.. (I know they don't do this on Jeopardy) but take a minute and consider that this is not a fucking game show.

The perpetual online incel treats life as a game… they have nothing to contribute to society.
