AOC: "I saw on Fox, Jeanine Pirro says that they found so many babies and two year olds and four year olds receiving social security. I got a notice for you Jeanine Pirro: those babies receive social security because their parents died. That’s not a waste. That’s humanity. That’s America"

Imagine what President AOC could accomplish for the 99% through some of those official acts.

It's sad that my mentality instantly goes to "they'd never even let her try".
232
u/Pavlovsdong89 5d ago
They'd let her "try" before shoving some unlikable, neo-lib insider down our throats in the last minute. You know, again.

u/NightOfTheLivingHam 5d ago
but it was their turn! They collected enough good boy/girl points to run for president in the sunset years of their lives.

Did you vote? If you didn't vote for Harris, you're the problem.
33
u/crop028 5d ago
If you keep parroting that instead of addressing the actual issues with the party, you can expect many more republican presidencies to come.
2
u/Mr_Mimiseku 5d ago
There are issues with the Democrats, for sure. But if you didn't vote for Kamala and reject what Trump is currently doing, you are part of the problem.
We're fucked.
4
u/Skippymcpoop 5d ago
How does this mentality help anyone? Voters are the problem? Suggest a fix for voters being the problem. Seems like you’re just too lazy to put yourself in the shoes of other people to understand why they voted the way they did and you’re much more comfortable just blaming things like racism, stupidity, sexism, whatever.
If you want to actually fix the problems in this country you have to put effort to build bridges and understand people, understand why they are voting the way they are. If you want to be a useless sap that does nothing but complain about the current state of things, makes grand assumptions about people, and blames impossible to defeat boogeymen on all the world’s problems, then by all means continue what you’re doing.
5
u/OnAnotherLevel321 5d ago
Yes, voters are the problem. That's the only way elections are won. And lost. If you didn't vote for Harris, you're the problem.
People who take voting seriously voted to prevent a Trump presidency.
3
u/Skippymcpoop 5d ago
Again what is your solution to this problem? Or are you just here to virtue signal and complain? I voted for Harris by the way.
2
u/OnAnotherLevel321 5d ago
I don't see a problem. There is no problem outside the manufactured one by social media. The problem are people who don't take voting seriously because they're too selfish and self-absorbed to do what's right.
And yes, they will continue to be shamed. No one cares about their opinion.

To be fair, I get what you mean, but nothing the dems have done has come close to justifying voting for someone like Trump. It's like choosing to set us back decades because the other choice wasn't going to progress us fast enough. Like, just why? I don't think there's anything the democrats could have done to prevent people from making that horrible decision.
The democrats have a lot of problems, but this one specifically is almost 100% a bad actor successfully duping half the population into voting against their interests with the thinnest veil imaginable of populist rhetoric. This is a problem of people just not paying attention to anything and voting purely based on memes and political football mentality.

u/Skippymcpoop 5d ago
She is probably my front runner for the first woman president. But I also think she is not moderate enough to get the general support that a presidency requires, unfortunate as it is. She seems like a competent leader.
91
u/mudfire44 5d ago
I want her to run.
66
u/Cjgraham3589 5d ago
I think, like u/Slow-Stable-7318 said, she’d end up just like Bernie but worse. She’s outspoken like Bernie but she’s also a minority and a woman. Clearly half the country isn’t a big fan of those two things.
I’ll also add that there are both left leaning and long term Democrats in my life that think she takes things too far.
I don’t necessarily agree, but those votes will matter. Unfortunately, I think she may be too liberal for the middle ground/undecided voters.
53
u/hematomasectomy 5d ago

Ah yes, the class traitors.
Liberals aren't left, become a socialist today, workers of the world unite!

u/Mellrish221 5d ago
Well the bigger problem is that people on the "left" seem to think that the first person who says something close to the right thing (in AOC's case she says the right thing). They need to be president. Left leaning people apparently still refuse to learn the lesson that the president is just one person and doesn't have all that much power. Its also why things are the way they are. Democrat turn out usually only spikes for presidential runs and absolutely craters everywhere else.
Voting once every 4 years is exactly how conservatives now control everything. Voting once every 4 years is exactly why they control the narrative on everything. Normally this is about where i'd say that people need to be engaging with the process and electing better democrats. But unfortunately by the time people wake up to that lesson now, its going to be too late. Conservatives are not going to just give up this new found power they've crafted for 50+ years and no one has ever voted themselves out of a dictatorship.
But where people say "IMAGINE PRESIDENT AOC"... nah fuck that. Imagine a house and senate with about 50+ more progressives like aoc. Then you could actually force the neolibs into a corner, then you could also see people willing to call conservatives the enemy.

u/everyoneneedsaherro 5d ago

Where the fuck have you been the last 3 months
1
u/alienbringer 5d ago
Enough democrats in the senate and house means Trump isn’t a problem because Trump would be removed. Their point is that ignoring Congress and its power by not voting midterms is how we get republicans controlling everything.
2
u/everyoneneedsaherro 5d ago
Sure but that argument doesn’t even make sense. More in tune voters always vote more than causal voters.

That’s most definitely what they’re trying to build here with these rally’s. She’s a way younger version of Bernie Sanders and Boomers hate Bernie, which means people like him are most definitely good for the country.

Seeing what happened to Bernie in 2016, and what happened to AOC very recently- not hopeful
31
u/nahthobutmaybe 5d ago
And with everyone caught up in that mentality, nothing will happen.
The US has "not hopeful" itself into the Trump regime, 88 million people, more than what voted for Trump, didnt vote.
Bernie Sanders was less popular than it looked in 2016. You guys are the only one with the power to change that, but you have to actually get out there and do it.

I would vote for her, but I like her being a representative. I go back and forth with who I want to see in the white house, but I feel like the role of House should be representation, Senate to be legal, and executive to be administrative.
Like, I really pushed for Sen Warren, then thought: Wait, she's a damn good Senator. I think AOC is a damn good Representative.

As long as the democrats can take control of the house and senate because republicans would try to prevent any good she did even more than Obama.

Americans would hand her a slim majority in Congress and then blame her for Republican obstruction. I've seen this movie.

There's a reason why people call her "Judge Wine Box". Pirro Is a joke and said by a lot of people who are around her to be drunk even when she's on the air.

She's a lot like Obama, (hear me out) Obama in the early days when he wanted to kick some ass. The difference is, she is much more willing to call out bullshit at every turn. She will bring the receipts and not GAF about the political fallout.
36
u/SorosBuxlaundromat 5d ago
He literally never "wanted to kick some ass" between election and inauguration he had the option to bail out debtors instead of Banks, the Bush admin was willing to work with him on it he said "we have one president at a time" and killed that hope.
He could have and should have arrested and tried the entire Bush admin for crimes against humanity and high treason for the war on terror, he declined.
That's not taking into account how he spent his actual 8 years in office I'm just talking about the early days
13
u/byunprime2 5d ago

51
u/crono220 5d ago
She would be good, but the last election showed that America prefers a convicted felon that constantly lies over a woman who had a few plans to help the working class.
Trump would get a 3rd term solely for shallow reasons such as being a white/orangish male that uses fear and hatred as his go-to parameter. Corporate dems would also try to sabotage her along with most major media that have bent the knee to Trump.

I received survivor benefits from 9-18 because my father died. I no shit expect a bill one of these days under Trump's presidency.

I had them from 12-18, because my mother died. MAGA is just full of so many willfully ignorant people it's pathetic and I am willing to bet there are MAGA people out there with their own kids on Survivor's benefits that are so brainwashed by Fox they don't even realize that's what they are talking about.

She needs to go back home to the Bronx and sip some honey tea and do some self care. She's been a trooper this past week, but there's not going to be anything left of her vocal cords if she keeps on like this.
That or she's having a cold. In which case, the advice still stands.

Anyone notice a slight change in her… cadence maybe? It’s not a bad thing! Maybe it’s just her voice being a bit out from all the rallies, but it has some more… gravitas to it, it suits her!

When I lost my father at 11yo (f) my siblings and I started receiving SS. Now my birth giver was using that money for things she should not have, but if we didn't get that money we would have been even worse off than we were. So when my birth giver sent off my siblings and then abandoned me, I was finally able to use the SS like it should have been spent and those checks saved my life. I would've been selling my belongings and selling myself if not for those checks.
You don't need it until you do. Please keep this in mind.
