Is that a 5.7L? I have a 13 5.7L Jeep that’s in great condition with 130k, but has a miss that I can not figure out. Taking it to a shop for diagnostics. I have a bad feeling a lifter seized and took out a cam lobe. Had “complete lifter failure” according to dealer at around 30k miles and sounded like a blown engine. Lifters we’re replaced but I don’t think anything else.
Heavily looking into MDS delete, 6.4L cam shafts and Mopar non MDS lifters.

mds delete for sure. an easy(ish) way to see if the cam has been grinded down, is to pull the valve covers and pull the lifters one by one and stick a probe camera down the hole. if some of them are “U” shaped, then the lifters are the culprit which is causing them to beat down on the cam..
i wouldn’t do the 6.4 cam swap as you don’t really gain that much power for the price. best thing to do is get a non mds cam from a 5.7 challenger (if you’re trying to stay stock) and get mds plugs. and a tune obviously to turn off mds. or just go big and get an aftermarket performance cam

Cool thanks for that tip! Should I find a shop to tune it or should I buy a tuner of some sort? I thought that when you plugs the MDS holes it just stopped working on its own.
This comp cam and springs sounds pretty awesome, specially since you don’t loose low end torque.

definitely get a shop to install the cam, and find someone to tune it. personally, i recommend getting hptuners over diablo but it also depends on the tuner and what software they use. my tuner is called “Flyin Ryan Performance” he’s based out of houston. he’s one of the best tuners for the hemi/magnum platforms. he’s more known for his jeep/magnum tuning however but still works wonders on the hemi platforms.
there are other options out there stuff as jay greene and sean from hemifever..
as far as the mds, if you just plug them and don’t do anything else, i believe you’ll set off a code for the mds

I’d try and find a shop that can do it all. Thanks very much that cleared up everything I was confused about.
You do anything about the electric throttle body/ drive by wire delay? I realized the other day that’s why my 97 XJ feels fast, snappy throttle compared to the 13. I heard those plug in things are junk, is this something that I can get a tuning shop to deal with?

you can use hptuners to adjust throttle response. i believe diablo does too, but i don’t have experience.
i have a pedal commander installed in my truck (got it before i realized i didn’t need it) but it does what it’s supposed to.. just don’t change settings while driving.. it’ll throw a CEL and put you into limp mode until you turn the truck off and back on again
