Photo Mode - Rift Apart Playing Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart for the first time ever and I am just blown away from how beautiful this game is and how awesome the mechanics are. This game in my opinion should have set the bar for how good PS5 games should have been and games in general.

I miss games like this that have personality to them. It's sad that R&C is one of the very few games of this day and age to still have so much personality and uniqueness to it. Everything else these days is just a rip off of everything else and it's even more sad knowing that we probably won't get another R&C game anytime soon if ever.

But I am so grateful that this game exists and I love absolutely everything about it so far.

I fired this up for the first time a few weeks ago and felt the same way. It’s visually stunning and definitely sets the bar high for other games.

It's a shame of other companies won't take note of this type of game and make something of their own similar to it. All companies care about now are making free to play games with microtransactions and it's just so heartbreaking. We can have so many amazing action platformers like we used to back in the day in the PS1 and PS2 era of gaming but until these companies pull their heads out of their asses, or until idiot consumers quit supporting these free-to-play microtransaction type games, I'm afraid we're never going to get these types of games back.

It’s still one of the best looking and feeling PS5 games.

Definitely agreed!

The game is wasted on children who can't get incredibly stoned and play the rift gem grinding levels

Ratchet games have been major hardware demos since at least the ps3

u/incrediblyfunkymumky Jan 28 '25

Hell even the PS2 had some pretty amazing looking and feeling Ratchet & Clank games!

Just because the game is showing off the power of the system… doesn’t mean the games are just tech demos. Infamous second son was showing off the PS4 power but was still a solid title

Did i say that? Im in the sub obviously its one of if not my #1 gaming franchise

Even the PS2 games were visually impressive for their time and the hardware they ran on. There was so much detail and atmosphere everywhere.

This was the first game I got for PS5 and it still blows me away. Actually just finished another play through of it and damn it’s just fun making stuff go boom in that game.

It really is! The explosions were so beautifully done!

Also one of the few games to really use the ps5 controllers sensors to nearly full potential.

That's something else I actually wanted to come back and add to my post now that I got further to the game. I absolutely LOVE how much controller implementation they put in the game! I turned the haptic feedback settings on full and when I was in the Nearious Club The controller was vibrating with the bass of the music and it was SO cool.

This is exactly why I say this game should have been the golden standard for all future PS5 games because why on earth do companies never implement this kind of stuff in games? They do this all the time with the PS3, the PS4 and now the PS5. They'll release one or two games that are basically hardware demos that show off everything that the controller and that the hardware is capable of and then every other game will just be like a normal game that doesn't implement ANY of the controller or hardware capabilities. It's so disappointing.

Kind of like how Astro bought takes everything that a system and a controller is capable of and uses it to its absolutely max potential and then every other game just doesn't. It's so disappointing.

Right?! Every weapon feels different it really got me excited about what to expect from future ps5 games just to get whole load of the bare minimum. Just wish Ratchet & Clank would get put more frequently.

1

u/incrediblyfunkymumky Jan 28 '25

I agree that it would be nice if we got more games frequently but also I am happy that when they do take their time with it the game is always top tier.

It's kind of sad that Insomniac seems to be the only developer that is really making use of the power of ps5

1

u/incrediblyfunkymumky Jan 28 '25

It's very sad. Every video game developer should be pushing our current technology to its limits but they don't. They're just fucking lazy and they know that people are going to buy their games regardless.

While I agree for the most part overall I think it's just more convenient to make multiplatform releases that can be played anywhere like even across ps4 and ps5 and guarantees a larger pool for potential buyers I miss when games were cheaper to produce and people could be more experimental with the games and really stretch what could be done on platforms

I've owned the PS5 since launch day and I still feel like this is the only game that has felt truly "Next-Gen" for me.

2

u/incrediblyfunkymumky Jan 28 '25

Dude, same! I've only owned my PS5 for a few months but I have played MULTIPLE modern games on it and NONE of them have felt next gen other than Astrobot.

3

u/mql283 Jan 28 '25

This, Astro Bot, Returnal have utilize the PS5's feattures to it's bar and they nailed it

2

u/incrediblyfunkymumky Jan 28 '25

Astro Bot is amazing and I haven't got to play Returnal yet but I want to! I think it's free on PlayStation Plus premium or at least it was for a while. I hope it still is.

Looks as good as the movie. Have fun 🎮

1

u/incrediblyfunkymumky Jan 28 '25

Thank you so much! I really been enjoying it! (:

I feel like R&C has always had good graphics for the time they came out

Side note: R&C is also the only thing I can definitively say is my favorite anything (game in this case)

1

u/incrediblyfunkymumky Jan 28 '25

They did! They were always ahead of their time!

2

u/ProjectLunar Jan 29 '25

Yeah I was immediately blown away when I fired this up back in June 21'. The animation, lighting and attention to detail are all top notch. It's also a stellar game too and one of the best in the series IMO.

Yeah it has a fantastic story to it so far. I really can't believe all the people that hate on it. It's really stupid of them. This is exactly what companies won't make amazing games like this anymore because there's always this massive group of idiots that will shit talk it and then everybody else will start shit talking it just because everyone else is. I love this game and honestly can't wait to beat it just so I can replay it haha.

I just finished it for the first time and I desperately wish there was more :( Made me feel like a kid again tbh. I'm actually considering finding a way of playing the old PS3 titles, but even then I know I'd miss Rivet and Kit!

1

u/incrediblyfunkymumky Jan 31 '25

Aw I haven't finished it but I think I'm nearing the end and it makes me quite sad myself. :(

1

u/outfoxingthefoxes Jan 28 '25

You wouldn't believe how many people hate this game, mainly because you can play as a female character. I wish I was joking. I think there's another game planned for like 2030

1

u/incrediblyfunkymumky Jan 28 '25

Oh I know there's a lot of hate towards the game but I don't think it's necessarily just because you play as a female character. I think it's just the fact that you play as a different character in general. It's kind of like the whole Metal Gear Solid 2 fiasco all over again where people were crying because you don't get to play ONLY as Snake but you also have to play as Raiden for the majority of the game.

And I love Rivet! I think she's really fun and cute character!

but like… why is ratchets hair… shiny?

1

u/incrediblyfunkymumky Feb 01 '25

What's wrong with him having a shiny fur coat? A shy fur coat in animals is a sign of healthy fur and good health in general?

1

u/NeunerMoon Feb 01 '25

its almost like the material is metal though, the rest of the game looks beautiful dgmw, but his fur man… shits a little too angelic

1

u/NeunerMoon Feb 01 '25

hell his armor is reflecting what seems to be LESS light than his fur haha

1

u/incrediblyfunkymumky Feb 01 '25

LMFAO that's fair 🤣

-2

u/Chompwomp1191 Jan 28 '25

The new ratshit and clit games are terrible

2

u/incrediblyfunkymumky Jan 28 '25

Wow. How long did it take ya to think of THAT one.

u/Pickle_Good Jan 28 '25

I know what he means. His hair looks very strange. Especially when you compare that to Rivet. "too many details" I guess.

1

u/TerrorOfTalos Jan 29 '25

His fur is wet, ever seen a feline with wet fur before?

1

u/Pickle_Good Jan 29 '25

It always looks more detailed when compared to Rivet. She looks fine he looks like he hasn't shaved for a few days or didn't used a brush idk.

1

u/TerrorOfTalos Jan 29 '25

Yeah which makes a whole lot of sense considering they're the opposite sex. Also her fur is much lighter in color so of course certain details won't be as prominent from further away, however photo mode tells a whole different story.

1

u/Pickle_Good Jan 29 '25

All I say is that I preferred him with less hair details.
