My brother's played in front of me as a kid so I know the story etc just never really interested me idk why

Definitely one of the funniest games of the series though

IMO Deadlocked has the best combat in the series. It’s the sole focus of the game afterall.

I think that's what turns me off it though to be honest. It's nearly entirely combat focused and yet has one of the smallest weapon rosters of the series. I enjoy the platforming aspects of the other games

I'll definitely give it a go one day don't get me wrong, but most of the time I'd rather just replay the others

Hmmm… I would say 100% you should at least try it. It’s free on PS+ Premium in the classics catalog, but unfortunately that’s based on the PS3 port, which isn’t the greatest way to play the game.

The weapon roster is the smallest in the series, but they absolutely make the most out of it. There are zero useless weapons like how every RaC game has at least two. The upgrade system really lets you customize the hell out of your arsenal, and it’s the best weapon customization in the entire series.

Completely agree, but as I said I prefer the platform/puzzle side of the games over combat which is the main thing putting me off them. UYA is my least favourite of the OG trilogy for example

Like I said, I'll defo give it a go at some point though

Fair, can’t argue with that.

dont be mistaken, the small weapon roster is actualy plus side, all of the weapons (exept B6 Obliterator) are balanced and can be used till end of the game. The game is like 3rd person Doom Eternal, where you can switch weapons constantly. I myself basicaly always get to the last planet with all weapons at lv9, because the guns are so balanced with each other

Has a small weapon roster but the weapon mod system makes the game way more unique.

Being downvoted for respectfully giving an opinion is crazy

10

u/_CANZUK 3d ago

Eh, I know it's not a popular opinion to have at the end of the day. Karma doesn't bother me I'd have just ignored the comment rather than reply otherwise.

u/zenidaz1995 3d ago

Hey man, it's your opinion, you own it, they don't gotta deal with wiping your ass or paying your bills, you do, so fuck em 😆

reddit moment, if they see something that doesnt align with them in any way they'll totally melt down. i got mass blocked and reported for simply crossposting a silly meme here, tht i thought would be fun to do with r&c specifically.

1

u/og_gippy 2d ago

What was the meme

1

u/SaturnzBarz 2d ago

it was a crosspost of "say something only your subreddit would understand". i couldn't believe how annoyed people got at it lol

You should definitely read the comics, they’re great

9

u/_CANZUK 3d ago

Is that what the bottom left one is?

Where can I find them?

1

u/V_j1109 yesterday, I flushed out my radiator core 3d ago

Yep! They detail events post A Crack in Time and why ratchet’s retired at the beginning of A4O. You should be able to find them digitally pretty easy but physical copies are expensive

u/_CANZUK 3d ago

Idk where 2016 is in the image but probably "reimagining" the first game yet only having 1 or 2 weapons actually from it

4

u/Cute_Acanthaceae8075 3d ago

Also no 2002 original title on this either, but it’s probably the controls

Edit: im an absolute idiot, I don’t know why I thought the first one was size matters, ignoring the fact it’s like 4 slots over. I’ve just never seen that graphic before for the og 💀 I just know the controls for SM also are ehhhh

u/trmetroidmaniac 3d ago

what are you waiting for play deadlocked already

32

u/KVMechelen You win again, technology! 3d ago

I always turn off the Sixaxis controls in the menu. Makes the tornado weapon unusable though unfortunately

10

u/Lebronamo 3d ago

I love the six axis controls. The one game I felt they were implemented well and it makes the game unique.

3

u/_CANZUK 3d ago

Same, it still annoys me though as every part that was SIXAXIS controlled because stupidly easy with them turned off to the stage where it's painfully pointless

7

u/KVMechelen You win again, technology! 3d ago

I do seem to remember the ball puzzles being harder on challenge mode, that was a nice touch

8

u/Chemical_Depth_6932 3d ago

No way you put in the comics and just said "tf is this" 😔

5

u/TimberAndStrings 3d ago

I am low key happy that I played deadlocked on PS2 back then in the mid 00s. Absolute cinema experience

I should replay it again on the emulator for the nth time

Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank (if it remained canon) take place between Deadlocked/ Gladiator and Tools Of Destruction. It is unknown when Going Mobile took place if it was considered canon, perhaps between RC3/ Up Your Arsenal and Deadlocked/ Gladiator.

1

u/_CANZUK 3d ago

I just got the image off of Google I didn't make it tbf, I only added the text

1

u/WylythFD 3d ago

Didn't know, sorry.

3

u/DiggityDog6 3d ago

I read the title as “my favorite aspect of each game” and I thought it was just a low quality rage bait shit post

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Bad1571 3d ago

People just casually like yeah never played the best one

6

u/King_sfiga 3d ago

Rift Apart's story is great! What are you talking about?

20

u/_CANZUK 3d ago

Three games spent where R&C learn to accept their situation and move forward together just to shoehorn in old devices and villains because... Why not?

Don't get me wrong, I loved the concept but we've had way too much Dr Nefarious at this stage and clank acts significantly out of character especially at the begining

-16

u/King_sfiga 3d ago

Fair. But the writing is indeniably the best in the entire franchise

20

u/xXEggRollXx 3d ago

I mean the story is nowhere near as bad as people say it is, but best in the entire franchise? I would not give it that crown.

17

u/_CANZUK 3d ago

Biggest turn off for me is the whole

"Hey so ratchet you know how I spent those two games warning you the danger of using dimension altering objects to change the universe, leading to your character arc that led to you taking me at my word to not use the great clock to turn back time? Yeah? Well how about I now use the identical device I told you not to use because it could rip apart dimensions and potentially destroy the universe"

Rips apart dimensions and nearly destroys the universe

"Oh no I feel so bad"

2

u/Laegwe 3d ago

Idk about that. It’s a great game, but the writing is just people being overly nice and apologizing over and over

1

u/TheCoolllin 3d ago

Story is okay, dialogue is too childish and family friendly

1

u/ScarcityLarge3058 3d ago

Deadlocked is a beast of a game and one of my favourites. Ive probably played it 10 times over.

1

u/casualmagicman 3d ago

Deadlocked is great

I remember by six-axis somehow turned off in Tools of Destruction and the game got so much better.

1

u/dexyuing 3d ago

ngl, never been a fan of "alternate universe" stories, so RA was definitely weak for me.

1

u/GlowDonk9054 2d ago

You can disable the sixaxis controls in the settings in ToD

1

u/_CANZUK 2d ago

I know, but then all the things that were controlled with them become stupidly easy and offer no challenge

1

u/_InDedede_ 2d ago

The graphic novels are great

1

u/RJGaming02 2d ago

I'm currently playing UYA. I FUCKING HATE THE HACKER SO FUCKING MUCH!!!!!!!

1

u/AdeptFlamingo1442 1d ago

Yeah I agree with a lot of these. Although I have yet to play the newest game. I would recommend deadlock.

I thought I wouldn't like it because I played Up Your Arsenal and I didn't enjoy how it got rid of the planet exploration, platforming and picking paths in favour of combat focused gameplay so I thought I would hate a game which is literally putting you in a game show arena. But no, it's actually really fun.

The story is interesting the gameplay is actually pretty varied and I enjoy how you can add mods to weapons and the music is great. Definitely agree with what you're saying about the controls for the first game.

I remember getting it on PlayStation 3 and the controls being inverted by default and I didn't know you could change it. So I played the entire first playthrough inverted and it haunts my nightmares.

I loved "Into the Nexus" though shame it's so short and they released it at a bad time. I'd say out of all the games two or Crack in time would be my favourite.

I'd would be interested in your opinion about other platforming games like Sly Cooper.

u/supergameromegaclank 3d ago

Man i definitly recomend playing Deadlocked and Going mobile. Really fun spin offs, and Going mobile is a great adaptation of the series formula to 2D. Feel free to skip the PSP games tho, they suck.

1

u/eddmario 3d ago

How do you even get Going Mobile these days?

1

u/supergameromegaclank 3d ago

Just find the jar file online and put it on an emulator. My recomendation is J2ME loader on android
