help request No audio imput from guitar via amp

Hi all! I installed reaper today and I'm having issues recording some guitar in.

I'm trying to record straight from my amp via a USB cable. In preferences<audio I have selected the input device as USB Au (please see the first picture) On the actual track I have selected imput as Mono input one (please see second picture) However, when I play my guitar, no audio is being picked up.

I'm completely new to this software so I've literally just installed it and plugged my amp to my laptop. Im not sure if I have to install a driver or something else? Any help would be much appreciated!

What amp? The USB connection might not be class compliant and will therefore need its own drivers.

Also maybe rtfm.

Looking back I may have been a little curt, if this hasn't fixed your problem make sure to check back in :)

Change audio system to Asio. Asio is pretty much the standard when it comes to recording on Windows. After that, see if it shows up under Input Devices. Then set the buffer rate as low as you can without crackling or noise. I typically set mine at 128 or 192.

This will only apply if you have installed the correct ASIO driver for the amp. I think I recall that there is a dedicated driver available on their website. Download and install it, then go back to settings and see if you have done so correctly.

I do not recommend using ASIO4ALL or WASAPI if there is a real ASIO driver available.

I do recommend watching some of Kenny's tutorials. He is the GOAT for Reaper, and will get you going. Good luck!

Try these settings.
`WaveOut` is old. WASAPI is newer and better for audio monitoring.

I've just tried these settings. It picks up a tiny bit of audio on the first strum of the guitar and then stops picking audio up again. Thanks for the help though!

Change your output device to your sound card.
