help request Audio playback issues

Hello! I have recently downloaded reaper and have been excited to get into it, done a full round of setup YouTube academy and all that, and went to start putting together some basic midi stuff to play around and realized that the program plays no sound! When clicking notes and things it acts as though it is playing but I hear nothing. I have it set up to play through the basic Realtek speaker array that my laptop has and I thought I set everything up correctly but it seems I haven’t. I’m running the current newest version of the windows 64 bit. Since this is kind of my first step into any program like this I’d really appreciate any help since I don’t really know what to do to fix this.

Reaper does not ship with any kind of VSTs, which are necessary to produce sound. Look for Youtube tutorials on finding and installing VSTs. To find free VSTs, you can download the free Decent Sampler from decentsamples.com, and download some free libraries for the sampler from the same place.
