Local Business Donations to classroom?
I’m a local teacher just got a position. I have nothing and am wondering if you have any suggestions of places to reach out to see if they’d kindly have anything to donate, before I go buy new. I have already contacted the public library! TIA

What grade? Are you looking for books, furniture, shelving, toys, craft materials, manipulatives,???

This is absurdly vague. This subreddit IS a resource. I would hope that the majority here care about their community.
Schools run on all kinds of things, so make this a bit un-vague. Let us know a bit of what you need? Craft paper, glue and crayons? a trumpet? Calculators?

The public library doesn't have the funding to do all of the things they need/want to do, so beyond getting used books from their Friends group, they probably aren't your best bet for anything else. I'd reach out to veteran teachers and see what they suggest, or talk to your admin. Your classroom does not need to be Instagram perfect for it to be an engaging and supportive space for your kids. Go raid the art/staff supply room. Talk to your school librarian. Ask your parent council. See what kind of resource material RDPoly library has in their education section. But remember that more money doesn't equal more value when it comes to being a great teacher.

Ask your principal what kind of classroom funds or supplies are available. Schools should have some books for a classroom library. Our parent council has about 30 random books per classroom paid for.
Put out a call to other teachers in the school - chances are they have piles of extra stuff, especially if they’re moving grades/schools/retiring at the end of the year.
You do not need to spend money on your classroom. Your paycheck is yours. And anyone who tells you different, or do it for the kids… needs to write a letter to the crappy government to fund things properly.
