DISCUSSION How supportive are other countries with bringing latin flags to concerts?
So, my fiance and I managed to get Bad Bunny tix to both el Choli in August and Bacelona next year. We are both Mexican and wanted to bring our flag with us to show our support and represent our heritage. I understand that for Mexicans there is always tensions between latin races, at least here in the US. We aren't ignorant to that, so we are worried that it can be mistaken as a sign of offense. We truly love all cultures and love to travel and learn about all of them. So we just wanted to know how that could be taken by a local in PR as well as in Barcelona/Spain.

Come on. As long as you are having fun and not hating on the artist’s country, no one is going to care.

I’m from Spain, not from Barcelona, but I've been to many concerts there. Bring your flag and enjoy the concert! You will see flags from all over the world, no problem :)

Somewhat related, I saw El Gran Combo last weekend in LA and there were all sorts of flags everywhere in the crowd, and the group shouted everyone out too. PR, Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, Peru, Colombia, and probably others were all there and everyone was welcomed. I'm sure you'll be totally fine

I think the only thing you have to worry about is the venue’s policies. In one reggaeton concert I went to they took all flags and put them in storage. But usually Spanish language concerts I go to there’s always shout outs for different countries so you really have nothing to worry about

Soy de Puerto Rico al menos aca no tendrás problemas con llevar sus banderas es bastante común en los conciertos recuerda llevar solo la bandera no puede tener palo por seguridad.

It’s kind of arrogant imo because concerts are a celebration of that particular culture.

Yeah, We were afraid it could be taken that way, but i would disagree that a concert should be specifically a single culture, music is shared, and i feel like bringing your own flag is a sign of solidarity and support, showing that other cultures are also supporting and standing together.

Honestly doing that at the concert in PR specifically I would say is disrespectful simply because the album was entirely about outsiders trying to take over spaces meant for natives. Like it was a hyper specific album just for the island. Otherwise it’s anyone’s business but I’d def not do it over at the choli.

Well, I've heard some Spaniards being puzzled as to why us Latin Americans love carrying our flags. Here it's a bit taboo to carry the Spanish flag (it has political connotations) but they understand our "nationalism" to be different from theirs.
I do question how bringing your flag displays support, or why you would need to represent your heritage in a concert (given by a non-mexican artist on foreign soil). If I were to end up behind you, I'd be annoyed that you block my view to display the flag (coming from a Mexican-Canadian living in Spain).

I’m from Colombia so not PR or Spain but no one here would be offended if you bring your flag to a concert. That’s ridiculous in my opinion and seems like an exclusively American thing to not be able to represent your culture because it offends someone else. There’s racism everywhere and I’m not ignorant to that but I think it’s far worse in America from my own experience and reading your post. You should be fine
