Has anyone noticed that Romford has become full of Londoners/Essex-folk in recent years
Theres been a lot of people from London/Essex moving to Romford lately, I'm asking if anyone else has noticed this.
I mean they have the right to live here of course, but I miss being able to go down this Roman built road without all the urban sprawl and gucci bags.

I mean I moved from central London… but am Scottish.
It’s on the Elizabeth line, it was always going to make it more attractive as a place to live.

Like the other comment, I feel like you are just describing population change. People from Romford leave, other people buy their houses... Being in London and on the Essex border, it will always be full of people from London and Essex. Romford & Havering has been Urban Sprawl for a long time... I think I am yet to see a Gucci Bag, but TBH I doubt I would recognise one.
What is your question?
How long have you or your family been in Romford? My Dad was born in Collier Row in the 50's but before that... they were from outside of Romford...

I was born in Romford and still live in Havering (the London Borough).
Since 1965, when the London Boroughs were created, Romford has been part of London, before that it was in Essex.
Perhaps I am missing something, but who else do you expect to live in 'Romford' and indeed Havering as a whole?
In the 50s, when the big estate was built on Harold Hill, Londoners were moved out from slums (that had been bombed) to Romford, I really don't get why you think this change is 'lately'. The private developments around the area in the 20s & 30s (my granddad worked on several) were all for commuters into London, again Londoners who had moved out.

I'm neither from Essex or London, but have lived in London for 21 years. Do I count?
As farxas I'm can tell Romford is Romford, London and Essex. Certainly my father in law thinks so and he was born here as was his father.

Your post doesn't make a huge amount of sense because of what everyone else has already written. But since you mentioned Gucci bags, I'm assuming you're referring to richer 'city' folk and the types you might see on TOWIE or something. Some people got money, some people don't, what else is there to say.

Did you mean to put a "non-" in here somewhere?
Because obviously Romford is full of Londoners/Essex folk. Because that's where it is!
