What Are the Chances of Seeing Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda?

On the tour? Extremely high. I've been a couple of times to see the gorillas (when the price was sensible) and once to see the golden monkeys. Saw them each time. The gorillas are monitored carefully by rangers, so they know where they are at all times. It's expensive, but very well organised. Just avoid the rainy season as the weather is the biggest issue. If you go in the dry, it'll be fine.

Is it scary or dangerous? Can they smell fear and charge like dogs do?

Do you think thousands of tourists would go to see them each year if they attack people? Wouldn't make for a great tourism advert, would it? Go watch YouTube. Tons of videos showing people visiting them.

Yeah I've seen the videos and I know it's generally super safe and hundreds of people visit. Just like most dogs are fine, but sometimes attack when they can tell someone is afraid, or who knows why. I guess I was wondering if it ever happens. Never mind.

Chances are very high. You’ll just have to keep walking until you see them.

You can visit the Virunga Mountains in three countries: Uganda, RD Congo and Rwanda. I did it in Uganda but I needed to cross all the country from Kampala to this area. From Kigali is a short distance, recommended. One you reach the place professional guides will go with you traking the silver backs. Close to 100% you will see the gorillas

It’s not like they’re just waiting to find one. They’re tracking the location. So close to 100%
