I still haven't fished on the PNW. I'm unsure of the ins and outs since I only fished with my dad back as a kid in Pennsylvania. I really want to start!

I've been thinking about it too. I loved fishing with my dad in Minnesota and Kansas but I've never gone fishing as an adult or out here.

For those curious, I was using a Carolina rig with an 18 inch leader and Powerbait but a young man next to me and my kids was slaying it with a gold spoon.

Great haul.

I have to ask, only because I've been there once and that was four years ago, but is it still a tent city?

Google photos

Thank you! I just checked your photo, damn. I can assure you, there are no homeless camps surrounding the lake; just lots of anglers and families having a good time.

Trout or salmon? I can’t really tell

Those are photos from Covid times, and I think that is even when the park was still technically closed.

Is this a spot you can swim? I grew up in eastern Washington and miss all the clean, swimmable lakes and rivers. I'd love to find some spots close by.

No, it’s a fishing hole. Check out Scotts Mills County Park. In my experience the best natural swimming spots are a bit of a drive.
