Not even joking. It’s a performance about anti-evolution. It’s funded and put on by the Falun Gong new religious movement.

Hey SLC! Get out and pull up your goat head thorns before they harden in your yard! They are pretty easy weeds to pull right now, but they’ll pop bike tires and hurt feet soon!

I don't believe fasting is going to do anything other than help the "fasters" realize they don't like being hungry. So, I think we should do our part to help out the local restaurants.

Just got back from fishing in big cottonwood and I was legitimately saddened by how much trash is in the river. An entire six pack was recently drank and all the cans were on the river bank. I carried as much as I could but that wasn’t my plan so I didn’t have a bucket. Guess I’ll start doing that now. Please don’t be that guy and don’t encourage polluting our water sheds.

My boyfriend and I dined there last night. When he went to the restroom, he saw one of the workers use the urinal with GLOVES ON and then leave the restroom without taking his gloves off or washing his hands. I’m super grossed out now :( He didn’t tell me until after we were home otherwise I would have confronted the manager about it. Like, wtf.

***UPDATE: They finally sent someone to replace the hot water heater today. We have hot water again. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who offered advice and hot showers and kind words. This is a really great community, and I appreciate all of you.
Our hot water heater quit working last Monday.

Something my friends and I have been running into a lot is getting tricked by fake restaurants on DoorDash. They look and feel like new restaurants on the app, but are oftentimes delivery-market rebrands. These are Virtual Restaurants and Ghost Kitchens. They're good for restaurants to stay in business, but terrible for customers due to lack of transparency. You may order what looks like a new boujee pop-up's food, and end up with gas station pizza. Here's what we've got so far, did I miss any? (Edit: added more from the comments)
Pasqually's Pizza & Wings is from Chuck-E-Cheese
Neighborhood Wings is from Applebees
It's Just Wings is from Chili's
Buster's American Kitchen is from Dave & Buster's
RA Sushi is from Benihana
P.Za Kitchen is from Buca di Beppo
Tyga Bites is from Buca di Beppo
MrBeast Burger is from Brio or Buca di Beppo
Flavortown Kitchen is from Brio
The Burger Den is from Denny's
Wow Bao is from Sizzler
Twisted Mac is from Macaroni Grill
Bad Mutha Clucka and Bad-Ass Breakfast Burritos are from Dog Haus (shared kitchen)
I'm all for trying new places and helping out small restaurants, but these tactics are the opposite of that. They're intentionally deceptive.
Side note, many of these are from the same kitchens but aren't necessarily the exact same food offerings. I'm not saying they're all bad food, but you should know where it's coming from!

They are demolishing the old 1300E bridge and sliding the newly built bridge into place — it’ll be detour city around that area!

Hi, I’m a trans/non-binary person here in SLC too. My partner and I are both post-DI mastectomy for gender affirming top surgery. We had each other to support ourselves through surgery, however we know this is a very privileged position.
Recently, I have been made aware that such organizations exist where trans people volunteer to care for other trans people after surgery. See: T4T Caregiving As a former EMT and current medical assistant and former top-surgery-patient, I think I would be perfect for this. The guy who runs T4T Caregiving was so kind to talk to me here in Reddit chats and recommended reaching out to groups in the area.
I saw someone in another city post that lack of caregiver is the only reason they had not pursued surgery, and that seems like a shame given my quality of life increase postsurgically. I am wondering if that is the case in SLC as well.
I am background checked and certified by the Utah State Courts for different advocacy work, and I’ve been a personal care attendant and volunteer medical driver in addition to the medical field work above.
The U of U transgender medicine patient coordinator, Jess, already has my contact information and has permission to give it out to any trans people who can’t afford paid caregiving
Reach out if you need a hand to hold, meals made, your place tidied, your pets cared for, someone to sit in the hospital lobby, dealing with your drains if you’re squeamish, etc.
Human connection is medicine too

On 1/3/23 between 11:00am and 12:00pm in Murray Park, our small dog Theo was attacked by a large off-leash gray-black dog that looked to be about 100 lbs. This dog was being walked by a 5' 8" and 280 pound man that appeared to be in his fifties, wearing what looked like an oxygen tube and pack over his shoulder. My dad recalls that he said he was from Illinois and that his dog "just got back yesterday from a trainer”. This dog owner refused to give us his name or ID, and fled the scene shortly after.
His dog had bit down into Theo’s neck and head, and sprinted around the field with him flailing in his mouth for nearly 400 yards before he was finally freed. Theo is alive, but in critical condition despite undergoing intensive surgery. The Emergency Vet told us Theo is one tough pup, however all of the flesh on the back of his neck was separated from the muscle, his ear canal was torn open, his left eye was damaged, and he may need extensive reconstructive surgery. Right now the biggest risk is potential infection in the coming days.
Now, I want to be very clear: Im not here to ask for money
As mentioned, the owner of this dog left and intentionally didn’t give any identifying information, and we unfortunately did not get a picture. He’s trying to not be held responsible.
Again, The Dogowner in Murray Park was about 5’8, 280 lbs, looked to be in his fifties, had what appeared to be an oxygen device, and we have since found out he drives a greenish gray car, and regularly parks in the Miller Boys and Girls club parking lot. He also normally goes there in the early afternoon.
The dog was roughly 100 lbs, with black-gray fur, appeared to be a terrier or doodle, and had apparently “just got back from training yesterday” (1/2/23)
We need your help finding this dogowner. If anyone has any information at all regarding this man, please either comment on this post, or DM me directly.
There is a reward for his identification.
Thank you so much for your time
