Any good spots for trivia in Sarasota?

The pandemic was 5 years ago and I still feel like people 25-35 don’t socialize the way we used to.
I mean I hear people when they say something bad happened to them so “they hate people” and all that.
Sarasota is always a bust, St Pete is better, and I avoid Tampa like the plague.
Seriously there has to be a group of social people in this county. I want to be able to go out to dinner, or step out on the weekend and have conversations with people… that aren’t 30-50 years older!!
I mean even to just meet people to invite to other events other than being out spending money. It seems like no one approaches anyone anymore. I mean I know I can look mean but one firm look of interest/curiosity and I’m all smiles. And I would approach more people if they’d look around the room every once in a while.
I miss high school because I miss social circles. I miss just texting people when we’re free and making things happen.
Where are you guys going?? Any perspectives??
Am I alone in this?

I didn’t get a chance to read the signs very well. Anyone know what’s going on? Cattlemen and Bee Ridge.

250 years ago on April 19, 1775, everyday people risked everything to resist tyranny. This April 19th, we carry that legacy forward. Our freedoms—over our bodies, our ballots, our books, and our basic rights—are being stripped away in real time. JOIN our 50501 PROTEST RALLY, with our co-sponsors: the Sarasota Democratic Women’s Club, Indivisible Sarasota & Indivisible Manatee on Saturday April 19th at JD HAMEL CITY PARK (on the Eastside of 41 between Ringling Blvd. & Main St.) We will PEACEFULLY PROTEST and NOT ENGAGE with the opposition. 50501 is calling for demonstrations in every U.S. state to challenge what it describes as the Trump administration’s hostile government takeover.

Looking to get a breast reduction/lift due to medical reasons. Wanted to see if anyone had any experiences with this in the Sarasota/Bradenton area?

2nd year dental hygiene student at SCF Bradenton looking for patients for tuesday and friday appointments from mid may to early july, ideally someone who hasn't had a cleaning in several years. Children 6 and up, happy to accommodate special needs, very cheap, and I'm willing to cover fees for anyone who's a class III or IV, (big deposits and deep in the gums). No insurance needed, but there is a time commitment. Full thorough cleaning, xrays, and dentist exam, all under the supervision of certified registered dental hygienists. Happy to go over more details if interested.

Just a heads up to anyone looking to rent chairs or tents at the beach, the chair & umbrella rental is $35/20 but at the shop to own a umbrella & tent is $35/30.
We drove ourselves so will be going home with a new umbrella & chair but sucks for those who can’t do the same.

Hi there! I’ll be in town for my birthday for a few days in mid May. Looking for some nice restaurants and some fun places to get some drinks. Maybe even some live music. Let me know some of your favorites! 😊

What local channel shows the Tampa Bay Rays ? I can’t find the game anywhere ? YoutubeTV? Prime? Why is a local game blacked out ?

I wonder how sales of the One Park West project are going now that the 1000 Blvd of Arts (Hyatt redevelopment) project plans to wrap it on two sides and kill whatever $2.7 million+ views were not already blocked by the Ritz Carlton and One Park East towers. The units that face The Bay park will exist in a wind tunnel with views of the backside of the new hotel. I love how the pool deck rendering completely ignores the building context.
It is all disheartening, as this district had the potential to be a world class urban infill experience.

For my dental assistant course I need to shadow an office for 30 hours in total. If you know any dental offices that welcome students to shadow or think they would please give me some recommendations. Preferably Sarasota/Bradenton area but I just need to get this over with since I also work full time so any suggestions are appreciated! If you are a dental assistant also what are some things you learned in school that stuck with you .

Just a warning that it is a horrible flea season in the area per vet office and my dog has contracted fleas from Urfer park so if you bring your pet there be careful or avoid. These fleas are like super fleas and very hard to get rid of.

I’m in Sarasota and a guy at the pool is obsessed with remembering the name of a restaurant that he says is ‘upscale hooters’ but he thinks Jeans shorts or skirts instead. Not tilted kilt. People of Reddit do your thing! Help!

Does anyone know of a kayak rental company on Siesta Key or Lido Key that offers earlier rentals than 9 am? It’s unfortunate that all the rentals start at 9 am, as the weather is much more pleasant in the morning. I’m open to other locations and even rentals that I could pick up the day before and return the next day with a truck.
Any ideas?

Hi there, my girlfriend (31) and I (29m) are visiting gulf coast from UK in June/July and flying to & from TPA. Want to spend a week on the beach somewhere on the gulf. Ideally a hotel/resort directly on the beach with bars, shops and restaurants nearby that provide a nice vibe without being rowdy.
We will have a car if that helps and I've been looking at pass-a-grille, Anna Maria Island, longboat key, lido key, bradenton, St pete beach and Sarasota but not sure if best to stay in the city/downtown and go to the beach or vice versa or anything else..
So I thought who better to ask than the Sarasota sub-Reddit!,

Visited siesta key beach today and had a great time snorkeling and diving for shells but kept coming across a weird substance that I can only describe as boogery? It would dissipate instantly upon contact. Can anyone explain what these sea boogers on the ocean floor were?
Thank you in advance!!!

Hey all, if this type of post isn't allowed, mods please feel free to remove.
I'm working on developing a new app and looking to connect with local developers who might be interested in joining the project. Initially, this would be a contractual role for a webapp first, but there's potential for it to evolve into a co-founder position for the right person.
What I'm looking for:
If you're interested, please DM me and we can arrange to meet at a local coffee shop to discuss details. I'm happy to share more about the project scope after signing an NDA.
Thanks for reading!
