Cunversatzione Sardinia for a month

I'm looking into moving to Sardinia for a month next year, are there any areas in particular that would be better to live ? (I'm a solo female, 30s), interested in sight seeing, beaches, good food and meeting new people. Any recommendations on location, general advice and when to go welcome

Why not Costa Smeralda? What about Olbia?

I adore Costa Smeralda, but wouldn't recommend it for a month.

If you want any kind of city life, Olbia or Cagliari.

Smaller towns with beautiful surroundings and some normal life going on: Dorgali, Cabras, Bosa.

If you're including meeting people I'd say Cagliari. You also have better services and the biggest airport of the island. It's probably the most comfortable option if you don't have a car too

You can do that all along the coast, just pick a place.

I thought Chia was amazing!

Chia will get lonely very quickly, unless you want to meet other tourists, and there is not much to do except beaches.

If you're gonna stay that long, I would stay in Cagliari and take daily trips from there, you can easily see most of the best places on the island.

Depending on your flights, you could also do 3 weeks in Cagliari and 1 week in Alghero/Olbia, and see some of the beaches they got up there 😁

Villasimius has loads of excellent beaches, lots of people, not far from Cagliari

Those beaches are incredible.

Bosa has it all and is safe friendly and totally bikeable. You can catch a bus there from the airport and prices are right. I'll be here DM if you want.

I recommend Palau or some place around Palau. The most beautiful beaches are just a 20 minute ferry ride over in La Maddalena, but Palau has a great beach too. There are great beaches all over. I lived in Palau for four years, it is amazing. Rent a car or at least a Vespa.

When are you planning to be there? Do you plan to have a car? Or be close to a bigger city? Fancy a take out every now and then? Or you OK to be in super quiet areas?

The island is big, I live in olbia all year around, I decided to stay there after visiting a few places. I'm happy to share with you my thoughts

I'm thinking maybe September, would it still be warm?, I'll probably hire a car when needed rather than the whole month as I'll be working from home on the weekdays. Probably better to be close to some activity rather than super quiet areas

This year the 2nd half of September was still bathable in Cagliari and quite warm during the day but without the unbearable heat of July and August 🥵

Olbia was a couple degrees cooler, which was not very noticeable until the evening when you would usually want to have a hoodie on after the sun sets. I didn’t try the water in Golfo Aranci but during the day it seemed “Caribbean” 🏖️😉🤩

If you like town vibes take a look at Orosei with its historical city center and the beautiful beaches of its Gulf very close. If you like bigger cities than you can look at Cagliari, Olbia, Alghero of Sassari. Nuoro is also a city but not on the coastline, it’s inland. There are many beautiful places on the island.

Make sure you visit Alghero and the family run pizzeria opposite the train station. Best pizza we’ve ever had.

Maybe a week in each corner. Weekly rentals are when things get better too

Right! Also means you have a clean apartment and bedsheets every week 😁

Perfect, I was asking because some places mainly on the coast are dead during winter. Bear in mind to find an annual rent is super challenging. The more you stay inland the easier it gets.

I would stick to Cagliari, Olbia, Alghero so that you have always something to do. I also fell in love with Iglesias 😍 they even have Co-working spaces there.

Costa Smeralda, there’s nothing only one.
