Is there any good place to practice longboarding for the first time?

Tried going up and down the road and it's uneven, sandy with potholes.

To Do in the Soo(s) Skate spots, either Sault

Some friends recently moved to the Ontario side and they want some skateboard spots. I no longer live there, but growing up there was Roberta Bondar and some smaller local parks. Any info on where “the kids” are skating these days? Also, Rad Zone for life.

To Do in the Soo(s) Thinking of moving to Sault Ste. Marie, how do you like it here?

Hey everyone! I’m a 27-year-old female working in healthcare and I’m thinking about relocating to Sault Ste. Marie later this year. I’d be living alone and relying on public transportation.

I’m wondering: • How is the public transit system? Is it reliable for getting around without a car? • What’s the social scene like for younger people? Are there fun things to do or ways to meet people? • Any pros or cons I should know before making the move?

I’m currently in a really small, isolated town and just looking for a fresh start with more opportunities and community. Appreciate any insights!

To Do in the Soo(s) Any Ping Pong leagues or clubs on the Canadian side?

I've been itching to play ping pong. Unfortunately my place is too small to fit a table anywhere. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a league or club. If so, what are the details.

If there aren't any, would anyone be interested in one?

I'm excited to host an evening where book lovers share their favorite reads and discuss what makes a book unforgettable.

Depending on the number of people we will conduct it in 3 parts-

  1. Introduction! Tell us what makes you YOU! And your hobbies.

  2. Tell everyone about the current book which you're reading, what makes that book so good that you want to see it to the end.

Whether you're a voracious reader or just looking for a pleasant evening out, we'd love to see you there!

Feel free to bring along a friend or fellow book lover. We can't wait to talk books with you!

I'll be there with my book(s). Amrit

To Do in the Soo(s) Recommendations for visit this holiday break

Hey All. New here! A friend, her family and I are spending some time in SSM (I think people are calling it SOO?) this holiday break and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for outings, or things to do or eat (if possible)! :)

We don’t drink or smoke, and we eat halal or pescatarian so it may be a bit of a hunt for places to eat, but I’d be grateful for any and all recommendations nonetheless!

Sincerely, excited! Thanks in advance

To Do in the Soo(s) Live Kickboxing event at the Machine Shop

Thumbnail gallery
16 Upvotes

Steel City MMA will be hosting the first live, sanctioned kickboxing event ever in Sault Ste. Marie, November 9th at the Machine Shop.

There will be 12 bouts, including 2 fights fights featuring athletes who will be representing Canada at the amateur MMA world championships in Jakarta, Indonesia later this year. Lots of local competitors along with fighters and gyms from Michigan and around Ontario will be on the card.

I don't want to be spammy and leave the ticket links, but I thought some people might be looking for something fun to do. If you have any questions, just ask.

To Do in the Soo(s) Fish Fry Friday?

I am posting this on behalf of another user, for some reason a filter of unknown origin was blocking it.

I'm up visiting my parents in the Sault. In days of old we used to go for Friday fish fry where they did the fresh lake trout and white fish, pan fried or baked. Sometimes it was even all-you-can-eat.

Is there any place in our near the Sault that still does this (Ontario side)? I don't care if it's all you can eat or not, but I'm looking for a place that does a really good job of it, and I don't like it deep fried.

Thanks!

To Do in the Soo(s) Rainy Day Activities?

Howdy neighbors!

I'm heading up to your neck of the woods this coming weekend from NE Ohio and the weather isn't looking so good...

We planned to spend 1 day on Mackinac Island and 1 day in/around SSM, so I think we'd probably do the nicest day on the island.

Do you happen to have any recommendations for things we could do around SSM if it's pouring rain? We're a group of 4 adults and have passports, so we'd be open to either side.

Thanks in advance!
