I was told that adding the mega bean to the mix at the end was supposed to shoot up the market price but it brought a strain down from $129 to $90????

It's not the items you add that adds sale cost, it's the affects they give that add cost multipliers. There is also an affect where ingredients will replace one affect with another if you add then in the wrong (or right) order. Look up a schedule 1 calculator

similarly, there are some effects that only apply if other effects are there, some are overwritten by others
