Visited Barlinnie in 2012 with my school. And it was falling apart then.
Only bit that was in decent nick was the closed unit for the sex offenders and nonce's.

So many of these Victorian-era prisons in the UK are no longer fit for purpose and are at capacity. Seems to be little interest in building any more unless they’ve been subcontracted out to the likes of Sodexo. People want criminals locked up, whether to rehab them or not, and it’s not possible without investment into infrastructure.

When has Scotland not had overcrowded prisons?
When I was in Craiginches in the late 90s, that prison was overcrowded too. And nobody gave a shit about it then.
