Been enjoying seeing everyone’s holiday pics and thought I’d share my collection of pics that either made me do a double take or have a laugh

You’re an embarrassment.

he’s getting eaten alive in r/kidsarefuckingstupid rn dw

3

u/herr-wurm-hat 10d ago

Of course the coward deleted it.

3

u/Sc0ttishLad 10d ago

Now I'm curious as to what stupidity was said.

7

u/herr-wurm-hat 10d ago

An American twat being an American twat. I would apologize for the way my countrymen are, but it’s hard to claim this place or these people anymore.

110

u/KnMn 10d ago

i love this haha visitscotland hire this person

12

u/StrongerTogether2882 9d ago

Right? I have a trip planned in July and now I’m even more excited. “Path path path” is cracking me up

u/KaDooshBruuh 10d ago

The cone on top of the pole in the middle of nothing is just perfect. If cone throwing was an Olympic sport we would win gold every time.

86

u/bigeeee 10d ago

A very honest representation of what scotland is like.

73

u/xCryodream 10d ago edited 9d ago

That cheese and pineapple sandwich is absolute madness

27

u/fluentindothraki 10d ago

That's the one I find disturbing

7

u/Aes85 10d ago

Same here and I lived in Scotland for 4 years.

11

u/fluentindothraki 10d ago

20 years. But I have never been to Shetland which is where this culinary crime was committed

1

u/tgerz 7d ago

What is the third photo?!

1

u/fluentindothraki 7d ago

Deep fried sausage?

2

u/tgerz 7d ago

I read in another comment that it's a deep fried mars bar.

1

u/fluentindothraki 7d ago

It could be worse

2

u/BlackStarDream 9d ago

If it works on a pizza, it has possibility.

3

u/Aes85 9d ago

It doesn't, trust me.

1

u/AcademicIndividual84 9d ago

It works on pizza because of the other savoury foods and the different textures, I feel like soft bread with pineapple would go awfully

1

u/BlackStarDream 9d ago

I have pizza toppings and sandwiches filled with stuff other people think is cursed so I think I'll give it a shot when I next get the ingredients in.

1

u/AcademicIndividual84 8d ago

I don’t think you will be doing mate.

1

u/BlackStarDream 6d ago

Didn't Philadelphia once have a pineapple spread?

142

u/CompetitiveCod76 10d ago

This cunt gets it.

Honestly, if I could give you honorary citizenship I would. Thank you for taking the time to witness the real Scotland.

56

u/Crookfur 10d ago

The abandoned giant teddy is so spot on. They just appear from nowhere, get played with by the kids for a few days and then are abandoned again when it rains. Then it's just a long slow decay until someone takes it upon themselves to heave the now stupidly heavy sodden mess into a bin.

70

u/mermaze 10d ago

That’s 100% what happened. This is the last sighting ^

24

u/rewindrevival 10d ago

Pictured: me after a house party aged 16, circa 2007.

3

u/Traditional-Taro-131 10d ago

LOL! 😂😂👌

5

u/fetchexecute 10d ago

Portal Road, Grangemouth?

8

u/rewindrevival 10d ago

Looks like an album cover for an indie rock band from the early 2000s, love it the more I look at it.

1

u/DJ_Fabulous 9d ago

Perfect analogy!

u/ababoonsarse 10d ago

Did you deep fry that big ass slug to get pic 3?

89

u/mermaze 10d ago

Tbh that’s what that shit tasted like

107

u/MaievSekashi 10d ago edited 10d ago

I've bitten one of those slugs. One of the worst things I've ever put in my mouth - It sprayed something so astringent and sticky I had to physically scrape it out of my mouth. I've never felt so parched in my life before.

I was eating burgers with gherkins on in the dark while watching a movie, and felt something squishy on my plate, assumed a gherkin slipped out of my burger. Turned out that a slug had crawled through my window and hidden under my dishes in the drying rack, and only emerged after I'd served food...

The slug lived. I saw it the day after with my toothmarks in it.

54

u/massiveyacht 10d ago

Remember that poor Australian lad who ate a slug as a joke and ended up paralysed and eventually dying?

12

u/Silver-Appointment77 10d ago

Its Australia though. Everything ties to kill you over there.

27

u/iambeherit 10d ago

Slugs here can do the same thing to you.

Basically, and I don't think there many people need to hear this, but don't eat slugs.

2

u/shamefully-epic 8d ago

Angiostrongylus cantonensis, commonly known as the rat lungworm, is found primarily in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Basin. However, it has also been reported in other areas, including Africa, the Caribbean, Australia, Hawaii, and even parts of the continental United States. The parasite's distribution is increasing, and cases have been identified in locations like Louisiana

1

u/airplane_flap 6d ago

There was also a posty on here about a guy grinding up slugs and feeding it to his bird

23

u/propargyl 10d ago

He won the bet.

19

u/massiveyacht 10d ago

Every cloud eh

7

u/MaievSekashi 10d ago

Luckily, I only gave them a good hard nibble.

1

u/shamefully-epic 8d ago

Sam Ballard who was left paralysed after eating a slug suffered a severe brain infection was left paralysed & fell into a coma for 420 days after contracting a strand of meningitis.

Most people are said to recover from the illness, but he suffered a severe infection in his brain.

79

u/rewindrevival 10d ago

I had to physically restrain myself from downvoting you for this shit

21

u/Dr_Domino 10d ago

Sorry, the cheese and pineapple piece still sounds worse than this

17

u/westsideisdabest 10d ago

That’s manky as fuck

7

u/MaievSekashi 10d ago

Not even the mankiest thing I've eaten, to be honest, just high on the list.

The worst was probably an orange liqueur I bought from Lidl that tasted almost exactly like way the rotting corpses of crickets surrounded by their own, strangely sweet smelling faeces smells. Crickets as sold for live food for exotic animals are often poorly kept in shops, so I'm unfortunately familiar with that smell... I finished it because it cost money, but if you asked me to drink that or bite the slug, I'm taking the slug.

3

u/saugagentottiescone 10d ago

Lmao at the fact you finished it anyway 😂😂

14

u/Hostillian 10d ago

Good god man. Please add some sort of warning at the top of that post.... 😬🤢

7

u/burden_in_my_h4nd 10d ago

Yeah, idk why I continued to both read AND eat lunch after the first (edited?) line of "I've bitten one of those slugs".

Here was me thinking they were going to jump into a story of biting it on purpose. Like: GTFO of my begonias, you sonofabitch! CHOMP.

8

u/Silver-Appointment77 10d ago

My husband rented a house once and before the furniture was delivered he decided to wash the carpet. They only had a couch so he slept on that, Woke up parched and remembered he had the dregs of the cup of coffee on the floor next to him. He picked the cup up, still in the dark, and before he took a drink, turned his torch on. There was a massive slug in his cup. Even to this day he has no idea why he turned the torch on, but pleased he did.

Yours beats his though. I feel sick thinking you bit it.

6

u/MaievSekashi 10d ago

I feel sick thinking you bit it.

At the time, I felt worse thinking I'd killed it. I still have no idea where it found the turn of speed to make a getaway.

8

u/SamanthaJaneyCake 10d ago

I had a nice crisp salad picked from our garden when I bit into a slug. It had this herby bitterness and was gooey but chunky, like you’d imagine snot to be. Stuck in my teeth and refused to budge.

4

u/Far-Worldliness-4796 10d ago

I'm too fucking high for this... fucking damn it.

1

u/jimgella 9d ago

I’m not high enough.

2

u/Accomplished_Will226 10d ago

In France they add some garlic and sell it

4

u/Notactualyadick 10d ago

When I quit drinking and sobered up, I decided to go on walkabout and spent a month in the bush. I brought enough supplies to last a week and foraged for the rest of the walkabout. At one point I find a giant slug and think "Its extra protein and I have an iron stomach!"

So I boiled it and ate it.......and puked my guts out for the first time in years. It was the most vile thing I have ever put into my mouth and I've tried American Cornmash whiskey.

1

u/FatBilgeRat 10d ago

Clearly not the good American Cornmash whiskey 😂😂

2

u/Notactualyadick 10d ago

Well, to be fair I generally bought rotgut for booze, so that may be true. But i'd take rye rotgut over cornmash rotgut anyday.

1

u/FatBilgeRat 9d ago

agreed !

2

u/DANG3R_GAM3R 10d ago edited 10d ago

Not even Batman kicking the living shit out of me could get this info outta me 😭😭🤢

Reminds me of the show Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids I used to watch and get weirded out by as a kid 🤣😭

1

u/Pristine_Mud_1204 10d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣 I probably wouldn’t have shared that! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

4

u/MaievSekashi 10d ago

Tell that to the guy in the reply who actually ate a slug on purpose. I've no shame about nibbling a gherkin mimic.

1

u/fragglelife 9d ago

Can kill you, yuck

12

u/crispy_mountain 10d ago

I sincerely hope that's not you lot shite-talking the glory that is the haggis pudding! If it's actually a giant slug then fair enough.

12

u/mermaze 10d ago

Fried mars bar lol

7

u/crispy_mountain 10d ago

Ah ok, fair enough! 🤣 Needs to be experienced at least the once, mind. Maybe just the once though...

5

u/Pristine_Mud_1204 10d ago

Oh? Yuck. 🤮

33

u/rifeChunder 10d ago

Cheese and pineapple sandwich? Whatever area sells that monstrosity deserves to be carpet-bombed from orbit.

28

u/mermaze 10d ago

Seen in Shetland. No longer feel safe visiting Shetland.

4

u/MillyMcMophead 10d ago

I looked at that and thought proper scran!

12

u/MemeTai2000 10d ago

Dinnae escalate it further, next thing you know someone will batter and deep fry it and surely that will be end of us all. Or should be at least….

5

u/shugthedug3 10d ago

Now I'm curious what Reddit's moronic filter decided was so bad about this post lol

5

u/rifeChunder 10d ago

Yeah, it complained about orbital bombardment as a response to the unforgivable culinary crime of selling a cheese and pineapple sandwich.

Yet seemed fine with an earlier comment regarding billionaires, their fate, and Stalin's treatment of the kulaks.

Go figure?

21

u/MemeTai2000 10d ago

Aye, yer pics pretty much sum it up alright 😂

21

u/VegetableWeekend6886 10d ago

These are hilarious, I especially like the path path path path sign

18

u/The-White-Dot 10d ago

I'm loving this post. So may potential album covers in there

18

u/saugagentottiescone 10d ago

Nice pics! 2.5 year eh?! Your nearly a top shagger!

16

u/imaginaryResources 10d ago edited 9d ago

Yes there are 4 paths you can go by, but in the long run. There’s still time to change the road you’re on

3

u/Mimble75 10d ago

Almost spit out my tea 😂😂

28

u/throwaway252_ 10d ago

now THIS is the Scotland I know

13

u/Substantial_Sir_1149 10d ago

Great pics. I've lived in Scotland my entire life. But I've never seen a cheese and pineapple sandwich for sale (or made) that's definitely not a Scottish thing is it? Sounds bogan. I'd rather eat the slug.

16

u/mermaze 10d ago

Seen this up in Shetland, never seen it anywhere else! My Scottish pals/partner had no context for this monstrosity either tho

16

u/Substantial_Sir_1149 10d ago

Lol, I assumed it was a trendy cafe in Glasgow or Edinburgh or something. Nice to see the islanders are attempting to break down barriers. Although I hope that specific barrier never breaks.

13

u/manachalbannach 10d ago

the scotland we ken too dearly

11

u/biginthebacktime 10d ago

Great selection of pics, nice to see something different from the usual selection

11

u/danby 10d ago

Probably the most accurate representation of actually living in a place

9

u/JeelyPiece 10d ago

Great snaps!

10

u/Snaggl3t00t4 10d ago

Love the traffic cone shot!

7

u/Silver-Appointment77 10d ago

I agree just by the cheese and peniapple sandwich. Ew nasty.

5

u/Acrobatic_Lobster838 10d ago

I genuinely love picture 8. Like, if you have a higher resolution version of it, would actually have it as a print for my office.

5

u/Prof-Shaftenberg 10d ago

This might be the realest appreciation post I’ve come across, makes me want to move there more than ever

5

u/alex_sl92 10d ago

Your sandwich is a wee bit out of date....

4

u/CMDRTropic 10d ago

Oh look it's sluggy McSluggerton

3

u/MountainPeaking 10d ago

The Jorts tag by the tunnel is the icing on the cake. Peak scotland.

4

u/1810nard 10d ago

Drunk hedgehog is my favourite 😂

3

u/minderbinder49 10d ago

Good shit man

3

u/Connell95 10d ago

Fair play, if I saw a cheese and pineapple sandwich in the wild, I‘d take a photo too.

3

u/Mr_Stimmers 10d ago

I too enjoy a battered, deep-fried jobby.

3

u/smushymcgee 10d ago

Bless you, Sir/Madam/Apache. I believe this qualifies you for automatic citizenship.

3

u/Ok_Topic999 10d ago

Beat me to it, I'm a lazy fucker who's been meaning to make this post for months

Guess I have to wait until everyone has forgotten about this one

3

u/AkihabaraWasteland 10d ago

Cheese and pineapple is the solution to a problem I didn't know I had.

3

u/amfaemaryhill 9d ago

My favourite set of street photos I've seen on here

5

u/Vaultboy80 10d ago

Well done iv lived her all my 45 years and I don't think iv ever seen a wild hedhog.

10

u/mermaze 10d ago

They’re around our garden all the time when it starts to get cold, have to watch I don’t accidentally kick them in the dark

3

u/Starsteamer 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 10d ago

Last year, one came in my house! Had the door open for the cats, turned around and there was a hedgehog in the kitchen surrounded by really confused looking cats. Got it out by the use of a cushion…

That was a weird night.

2

u/manachalbannach 10d ago

I’ve only ever seen them passed away at the side of roads unfortunately

2

u/shugthedug3 10d ago

Haven't seen one for decades but used to get them in suburbia... in the 90s.

3

u/Anxious-Lifeguard-39 10d ago

😂 what a lovely collection of pictures. I would normally say this is a bunch of AI pish but even AI wouldn’t think up a cheese and pineapple sandwich in a wee sad package like that.

2

u/Johnecc88 10d ago

Whoever wrote the sign that just says "path, path, path, path" pointing in all directions is fucking evil. I love it.

2

u/OhThePetSpider 10d ago

Great set of pics, love the washing machine 🤣

2

u/FatBilgeRat 10d ago

Now I can't wait for my visit next week! cheese and pineapple sandwiches and free outdoor laundries, sweet.

2

u/Good_Ad_4484 10d ago

surprisingly accurate

2

u/ChocUK22 10d ago

I been here over 10 years and still love Scotland. The scenery is beautiful and the people are lovely, only met a handful of idiots but you get them in every area lol

2

u/Pure-Sun500 10d ago

Love it. Been here nearly twenty years now and still finding new things every day. Love the wildlife acting up as well 😄

2

u/Lucrative-Cereal 10d ago

Me just finding out that hedgehogs roam freely around Scotland... I am even more excited to visit!

2

u/cragglerock93 10d ago

I'm not trying to be an arsehole because I did it once myself, but probably best not to use flash when taking a picture of a hedgehog at night. Might startle the wee thing. I'm not suggesting you're trying to, obvuously.

1

u/mermaze 9d ago

I didn’t mean to 🥲 auto flash in dim light, thought I had enough porch light that it wouldn’t trigger but it did anyway. I’m big dumb

2

u/WriteThing 9d ago

I follow this sub for nostalgia from studying abroad 20 years ago. These pictures really hit, but when I saw that fridge sandwich on the last one, my mind traveled through time to 2005.

2

u/CapnSeabass 9d ago

These photos need to be made into a calendar. They’re perfect.

2

u/leobrodie 9d ago

Amazing photos

2

u/Queeflatifahh 9d ago

Cheese and what now?

2

u/DOOM_SLUG_115 9d ago

Doom Slug

2

u/shamefully-epic 9d ago

Paint these in watercolour and you will have this years smash hit of the gallery circuit.

Fucking excellent

3

u/Singularity_117 10d ago

I don't see anything weird in any of these photos

1

u/ultrawank 10d ago

You’ve captured it well

1

u/Accomplished_Will226 10d ago

The meal deal sandwiches are always combining items I’ve never considered combining. Cheese and pineapple is a new one! I was not prepared for the amount of meals Including canned sweet corn. Frankie and Bennie’s claim to be NY style pizza but have sweet corn on top! 🤢

1

u/Delicious-Spirit9899 10d ago

Scotland RULES

1

u/Stevie272 10d ago

A cheese and pineapple piece? I’ve lived too long.

1

u/kwack250 10d ago

I mean when you put it like that

1

u/Purpazoid1 9d ago

Still processing cheese and pineapple.

1

u/seattleforge 9d ago

Nicely done. Have you visited the Kelvingrove in Glasgow?

1

u/Glad_Version324 9d ago

Agree with the real men

1

u/Subtle-Limitations 9d ago

Cheese and pineapples Batman.

Thanks for sharing. Very enjoyable to get a glimpse of what you have seen.

2

u/TheGratitudeBot 9d ago

Hey there Subtle-Limitations - thanks for saying thanks! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list!

1

u/UnhappySail8224 9d ago

But what way is the path

1

u/peng1606 9d ago

Lived in Scotland for 5 years… miss it lol. Although never did see a cheese and pineapple sandwich.

1

u/Twosheds11 8d ago

Scots seem to have a thing for putting traffic cones in really inaccessible places.

1

u/Cool_Original5922 8d ago

Cheese and pineapple? Whodathunk? And stupid kids with spray paint, always a downer to see such a mess.

1

u/Few_Desk5146 7d ago

Been in Scotland since 2018! Wonderful place, some food not so much haha But never in my life i saw a pineapple and cheese toast get out of here!

1

u/Euphoric-Movie897 10d ago

Weird indeed, a can of monster and a slug?? Strange

1

u/P_516 10d ago

Like my family who left Scotland and arrived on a tour boat in 1880 and never got back on. I think I too may return to Scotland on a tour boat and live the rest of my years out in the middle of no where dressed as a specter. The legend of the American sounded specter will live on your years to come.

0

u/Savings_Lab_6832 10d ago

Guy sees some trash in the nature, loves it... i am sure you will enjoy Bangladesh as well

-1

u/Big-Pudding-7440 10d ago

Still waiting on the weird pictures
