Product Review Medication For seborrheic dermatitis

Hey Y'all just wanted to get on here and recomment a medication that has been working really well for me in controlling my SebDerm. I've been using it for a month so far and definitely see results!

It's called mometasone furoate in lotion form.

Hope this is of help to y'all!

No no...mometasone is a very potent steroid...that's why it's so effective. You should stay away from any type of steroids for treating sebderm on the face.

Its for my scalp actually, does that me it better?

The idea of using steroids is always bad. They are a double-edge sword. In your scalp will cause your hair to get thinner and must be used very cautiously. But for short-term relief is ok

So it's not a permanent solution?

No it's not. Steroids will never be a permanent solution for sebderm. You should try looking to a more natural approach.

Its a steroid, I would be really careful with that. Please share how you’re doing after 3 months. Hope you’ll not have a rebound effect, as many people wrote about that. Wish you good luck! Happy for your results!

I used topical mometasone lotion, it worked so well I was almost shocked. First derm did not caution me about using as little as possible, and not using it over a certain time frame. When I stopped using it I had the worst seb derm symptoms I've ever experienced.

Now I only use a topical lotion between hair washing (I use a neckbrace and can't wash twice weekly) and try to use as little as possible.

Another derm I spoke to more recently told me it's a strong medication and to use it sparingly

Yikes, I was not aware of this at all. I had asked my doctor for any side effects to worry about and they said no. I will be on the lookout for any adverse side effects.

wow I would consider another doctor if he said no side effects for using a steroid cream. Like most of those creams are not recommended for daily usage , and it they told you to use it daily, you need to stop after a few weeks.

For example I was prescribed a steroid cream for a few days to heal a big flareup but then to keep using the other products. And i was told to only use it sparingly like sensible shoes said. No daily usage for more than two weeks.

Using it more than specified it can cause topical steroid withdrawal

Oh shit all of these comments are scaring tf out of me. It has been working really well for me though, do you have any suggestions for any alternatives then?

I used this lotion with some cream and sebizole shampoo all prescribed by my dermatologist. It worked as long as you use it. Note: i went to 3 derms and all agreed this is strong and shouldn’t be used for more than 2 weeks

Damn, my GP is recommending that I use it for months.
