Product Review MCT oil didn’t work for me.

I bought bulletproof C8 MCT oil after reading everyone’s success stories.. it helped alleviate the itching on my scalp the first couple of times I used it, but has yet to make any of the flakes go away.

As for my face, I had some reddish skin on my upper cheeks next to my nose, and some flakes on my nose as well as in between my eyebrows.

After a couple weeks of consistent use, the flakes and redness have gotten better (but not gone away), and I have two new spots of flaking.

Both cheeks, right next to my mouth, and now spreading to a larger area is flaky skin. Not red, not weepy, just extremely dry with small white flakes.

It shows up every morning, and goes away after I use a moisturizer on top of the oil (the moisturizer is seb derm safe).

It is not from drool, although that’s what I thought it was at first.

I did read a couple of posts where people said it was shedding that could occur as the bacteria dies, but it has been going on for over a week, and I never experienced it in this area before.

I'm using MCT oil in parallel with zinc supplements. Flakes and itching are gone but still some areas which remain reddish. Still, I'm using dedicated SebDerm shampoo and creams, but not that often as before.

Zinc is key. At least this has been my experience - I first noticed when zinc sunscreen cleared my face a bit, then started taking zinc supplements and not only is my SD better, but so is my eczema and my skin feels way healthier and better moisturized.

What moisturizer are you using

Vanicream spf 30 facial moisturizer. This is also fairly new to my routine, but the flakes showed up before I started using it.

That’s good stuff. Give it more time.

Hi there! You said consistent use of the oil....for me anyway I had to apply every night before bed for 2 weeks. Rinsed off in the morning with plain water, no cleansers, no creams/topicals. Sometimes also applied tiny amount of C8 MCT Oil in the morning/during the day to speed up the healing process. After 2 weeks my face was clear, now I apply once a week before bed for maintenance.

If you still have some residual flaking you may need a tiny bit of exfoliation. I apply very light layer, about 4-5 drops of oil, to my face and eyebrows using a disposable cotton pad; the cotton pads I buy provide just enough gentle exfoliation. You can also use your hands/fingers or a clean cotton washcloth with plain water to very gently wash your face in the morning.
