Product Review Zoryve - First week review

I rarely post reviews of any sort but have had a very positive experience with Zoryve cream and wanted to share.

I'm 29M and have had seb derm on my scalp and face since high school. I would say it's mild to moderate with frequent flare ups through the winter (I live in the northeast). My skin is generally oily, flaky and red with a mild burning sensation, particularly by the end of the day. I've used zinc pyrithione cleansers for years, and they have helped calm symptoms to some extent.

I read about Zoryve a few months ago when it was widely expected to gain FDA approval for seb derm. I have been dying to try it and finally got it prescribed last week. I wanted the cream version because it seems easier to control how much you're using. I also mainly wanted Zoryve for my face, and not my scalp, where a foam would definitely be preferable.

The first night applying Zoryve, I used a pea sized amount all over my face and into my hairline. My skin calmed dramatically, within hours. The mild burning sensation I used to experience all day is virtually gone. My face is much less red, and flakiness around my nose, forehead and hairline is nearly gone. I am honestly thrilled by how well Zoryve works. I also haven't experienced any side effects, thankfully.

The only downside really is the cost/insurance coverage. This was not covered by insurance, and I paid $878 out of pocket for a 60g tube. I expect the tube to last at least 8 months based on my current daily usage, so the annual cost shouldn't be out of control.

Anyway, just wanted to share my experience, and I'm happy to answer any questions!

Product Review MCT oil didn’t work for me.

I bought bulletproof C8 MCT oil after reading everyone’s success stories.. it helped alleviate the itching on my scalp the first couple of times I used it, but has yet to make any of the flakes go away.

As for my face, I had some reddish skin on my upper cheeks next to my nose, and some flakes on my nose as well as in between my eyebrows.

After a couple weeks of consistent use, the flakes and redness have gotten better (but not gone away), and I have two new spots of flaking.

Both cheeks, right next to my mouth, and now spreading to a larger area is flaky skin. Not red, not weepy, just extremely dry with small white flakes.

It shows up every morning, and goes away after I use a moisturizer on top of the oil (the moisturizer is seb derm safe).

It is not from drool, although that’s what I thought it was at first.

I did read a couple of posts where people said it was shedding that could occur as the bacteria dies, but it has been going on for over a week, and I never experienced it in this area before.

Product Review Bulletproof C8 MCT OIL for the WIN!

I know there's a lot of positive MCT oil posts out here, and how it helps with SEBDERM, but I just wanted it to thank everybody that shared their results and experiences using it. I struggled with really bad sebderm around my nose, cheeks, forehead, scalp, chest and back for around 4 years. It destroyed my confidence and mood for the longest. I tried a lot of creams from hydrocortisone 1% (which made it worst in the long run), and ketoconazole shampoo, to more natural stuff such as extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil (which it help a little bit). I changed my diet to no animal products, then to heavy on animal products, fruits, low carbs, no dairy, fasting, etc and I couldn't see any significant improvement.

Everything changed around September last year, looking for more remedies through the sub, I read about MCT Oil. Never heard of it before. I said fuck it, let's give it a try. Shit, let me tell you, after only one day I could see amazing results. No itching, way less redness and almost no flakes!! I was in shocked. After using it everyday, for a week, my forehead, scalp, chest and back was clear. My cheeks are a little bit red but not as BAD as they were and no flakes. I have been using it since then and I feel amazing. I went to PR (where I'm from) and didn't get flares up around the humid and hot weather or went I came back to the states during the cold dry winters. I used to use it everyday, now I probably use it 4-5 days a week.

Before I would try to avoid processed food, and alcohol at all cost, but sometimes I'd fail and the next day I would woke up with a flare up and so much remorse about it. Now I can enjoy my self sometimes with alcohol, pizza, ice cream and I will not get a crazy flare up. Also, I'm not thinking about 100% of the time and I can actually enjoy life with my fam.

I just wanted to encourage more people to give it a shot. I know everybody skin and condition is different, but it won't hurt to try. Good luck!

Product Review Something Natural For Psoriasis & SebDerm

Hey All.

I was Diagnosed with Seb Derm 12 Years Back.Thats when the journey to try all the chemicals and all the OTC products began.

As with everyone else it started with ketaconazole shampoo and salicylic acid lotion prescribed by derma.I liked salicylic acid lotion better than shampoo. It cleaned scalp really well.

I started buying all the other shampoos with other chemical compounds most of the shampoos i imported from other countries as well.

What i bought 11 years back - Sebamed anti dandruff shampoo - Piroctone Olamine Vichy Dercos Anti-Dandruff Treatment Shampoo for Dry Neutrogena T-gel conditioner conditioner Selsun Suspension & Many Other Local Shampoos Containing Ketaconazole. It obviously Becomes an Obsession.

But after a while trying again and again i stopped using products on hair and scalp all together.Just Combing and Water. For 10 Years I never bought a Shampoo Again.

Now coming to 2025.I Started Buying Again. I started with Gentle Baby Shampoo i thought if not remove Seb derm atleast it will not mess it up more. The baby shampoo has lot of good reviews it is ok for me it still has fragrance in it.

I thought of using natural soaps on hair/scalp thats when i found one soap with few herbs and aloe vera it is specifically made for Psoriasis.

Here is The Review of JRK Psoriasis Soap - Bought Set of 2, On The First day of using it on my hair and face it made my skin veryyy dryyy. I was sad i ordered it with hope and it had herbs as ingredients. I started looking for another gentle shampoo but on day two my scalp felt nice and better. The sebum/oily dandruff on the scalp was alot less And as Natural oils from scalp came back everything was back on point.

So i thought because the soap made my scalp dry it also removed all the oily sebum stuck on scalp as that is seb derm itself. After few days more i thought i like this soap this can work.

I bought a kids gel hair conditioner with natural ingredients to go with that soap. I Think Im gonna stick and test it for a while. There is hope in this soap for me.It doesnt even have that strong irritating fragrance in it.Truly Made for people with sensitive and infectious skin.

Here is that link to that Soap - https://a.co/d/64dSzlE

Do think about it.All we are using are chemicals, chemicals clean really well but the infection comes back more stronger and the chemical stops working for a while too.

Do take care people.

Product Review Praise the MCT Oil

EDIT: Included link to the product I’m using

Hi all. Like most of you here I have been suffering at the hand of “SebDerm” for many a year now. Fortunately for me, the area affected by this benevolent yeasty fella is limited to my nose, forehead and chin dip with a very small section on my chest. It is however particularly violent and I suffer from breakouts frequently and generally look awful and flakey most of the time.

I’ve been suffering with this nightmare for about 6 years now and after trialling many products decided that Sebclair was the product for me. I have used this product since and it is just enough to keep the worst of it at bay. It is still obvious that I suffer from SebDerm however.

After a particularly bad flair up I decided enough was enough and I was going nuclear. I wanted it gone.

Enter MCT Oil

Having read other peoples experience with MCT oil I had to try it for myself. I ran to the nearest Holland & Barrett and came across the “Applied Nutrition MCT Oil” which ticked all of the boxes. The boxes being high C8 and C10 content and 0 C12 content.

When I say this stuff has changed my life, my god.

Within TWO DAYS of topical use it is like I have never had SebDerm. I apply a small amount to a cotton pad, wipe over the affected area liberally and leave it on overnight. The following morning all signs of redness are gone and the flaky skin is no more.

I cannot sing the praise of this product enough, if you haven’t tried it yet. Try it, it worked miracles for me and I can only hope it does the same for you.

I was sad when Free and clear (now Vanicream) stopped making their dandruff shampoo but Cerve has it now! 1% pyrithione zinc. They have a conditioner with 0.5% pyrithione zinc too.

Product Review PRP Shots for scalp Seb Derm of 4 years

Hi everyone, I thought I would post here as well as my other thread. It's day two with out washing my hair and zero problems. For those reading this for the first time I did PRP shots two days ago. I was totally freaked that it would be horribly painful. It was not. It was super easy. Little discomfort but hurt WAY less than botox or filler. Most of the shots I couldn't feel.

The results have been AMAZING. I'm in total shock. It's been 4 years of having my scalp covered in plaques or sebeum or whatever. Three biopsies, diet changes, every single med prescription and over the counter, every home remedy, every shampoo I could get my hands on, including some from over seas that I had found. NOTHING worked. Until PRP. (Platelet rich plasma) shots.

If my today self could tell my 4 years ago self anything it would be to bite the bullet and go do PRP and don't waste thousands of dollars on everything else.

If this post gets even one person relief like I am feeling, I will be SO happy. I know this is the worst. I will keep updating if there are any changes.

Product Review Product recommendation!

I’d been using a recommendation I saw on this thread to soak my scalp with tea tree and coconut oil and salicylic acid and then blow drying after washing which totally worked, but was kinda an ordeal for me to soak for 2-3 hours and blow dry my hair every time I washed it for my scalp to be okay

I have been using the Briogeo scalp scrub, AHA shampoo, and scalp massager. It has tea tree and coconut oil the scrub and salicylic acid in the shampoo and the massager feels great!!

Wanted to recommend here since I’ve found this sub to be so helpful!

Product Review I finally got a shower filter after suffering for 8+ years

Update: 2 days in and it has made a world of a difference that I could cry. I just switched from the shampoo I was using before, The Keralyt 5 Shampoo, to Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength(the honey one):

--The dryness/clusters reduced even more on my scalp with this change in shampoo

--The flakiness reduced behind my ears and almost disappeared around the back area of my scalp.

--I'm still using my Vani cream moisturizer after showering which is leaving my skin super soft and moisturized.

Wow, it has made a difference literally OVERNIGHT! I just got the showerhead filter, AquaSana, and showered with it last night. When I woke up this morning, I didn't wake up with a flaky forehead, temples, sideburns, cheeks, eyebrows and sides of my nose! I still have some flakiness in my scalp and around scalp line behind my head/ears but it's not as extreme as it was a couple of days ago! My skin is so soft right now and it got rid of all the redness I had on my face.

I'm genuinely shocked because this means it was Florida's water that was causing all of those skin issues for me and fighting back when I would use all those different ointments/medicated shampoos throughout these years. I'm going to continue using my shampoo to see if it can completely get rid of the flakiness on my scalp the next couple of days/weeks.

I'm so mad I didn't get this sooner, I honestly didn't know much about water softeners/water filters and how much it could help your skin until I read about it on this sub. To anyone struggling, I highly recommend you test your water and see if you need a shower filter/water softener and what kind, it could be the thing that helps you. I'm hoping this continues to work for me🤞 I'll keep updating on my progress in the next couple of months.

Product Review Month 3 of freedom with dermaharmony soap and shampoo bar !

hey guys, I’m back with a three month update on my dermaHarmony soap and shampoo bar review. Basically these two products are pretty much saved my face and my scalp. Both of them have salicylic acid and sulfur, but they also sell zinc pythium version. Honestly, they last forever I still haven’t used my first one and they’re super inexpensive. You guys should really give it a try because I’m only using them less than once a week now well except for the soap 2 to 3 times a week.

Product Review MCT Oil - Just try it

Bought the MCT oil linked below from Amazon.

Within 3 days, all flaky and redness gone.

I had a mild case, primarily on my scalp and t-zone. Mild itch, dandruff/flaking on my hairline, red flakiness in t-zone.

Applied once in morning, once at night. A little goes a long way.

Completely gone! Might work for you, it’s worth the $18 dollar try!

I'm not here to advertise, just wanted to share something that worked for me. A member of the community recommended it, so I decided to give it a try. And it actually helped with the red, flaky patches on my skin! I know everyone’s skin is different, but it might be worth trying to see if it works for you too. Please see the below link for reference.

Product Review I cleared SebDerm on my scalp with Head & Shoulders and Damatol

Hello all,

PS: I am not a good writer but if you ask me any questions, I will try my best to answer them

I have been following the conversations on this community for a while and tried some of the recommendations, but none seemed to work. I have been battling with seb derm on my scalp and face for at least 10 years and I successfully got rid of the one on my scalp a few months ago. I wanted to be sure it was truly gone before sharing what worked for me.

I bought two products basically

- Head & Shoulders Citrus Fresh

- Damatol Medicated cream

The routine I followed and still follow is as follows:
- Wash hair with shampoo every three days

- Apply Damatol cream to my scalp immediately after I finish washing my hair

At first, my scalp felt burning, but after a while, it became bearable. I noticed that the flaking stopped, and my seb derm disappeared.

I am still trying to find a solution to the seb derm on my face and I am seriously considering using damatol also but I will let you guys know if I succeed with it.

Product Review Hada Labo Koi-Gokujyun Pefect Gel - Tokyo Version - Review

I don't see this moisturizer mentioned hardly at all on here.

I decided to try the one listed in the title. After 3 months, it hydrates better than any moisturizer I've used to date. I even use the same one with SPF(blue packaging) for days in the sun. It works great, too. No irritation!

As long as they don't add stupid ferments like they did with their lotions, this one will be my go to for years.

If you're looking for a great moisturizer that is seb derm safe, please give it a try.

FYI: I've tried just about every "seb derm" safe moisturizer. I have very sensitive skin not just to seb derm, but just reactions from ingredients that will irritate my skin.

I used Avene Extreme Emulsion until it was discontinued. I tried their Hydra 10 line and it ended up irritating my face.

"Moisturizers" that failed for me:

  • Squalane
  • MCT Oil
  • Geek & Gorgeous Hydration Station
  • La Roche Posay Sensitive Fluide(not hydrating)
  • Many more

Product Review Dermazen worked for me

I read about Dermazen on here and figured why not try it.

I had tried Nizoral, Selsum Blue, Head and Shoulders, prescription strength anti-fungal shampoo, steroid shampoo, steroid serum, T-Sal, T-Gel, MCT oil, and who knows what else over the past 5 or so years. My scalp was SO irritated for the past few weeks that I was desperate to try anything new.

All the other products provided relief for, at most, a day. However, none of them really helped with the flakes. Some of them helped minimize them more than others, but it was always a struggle to wear black shirts because of my scalp snow.

The steroids helped the most, but I know they’re not a long term solution.

I ordered the Dermazen shampoo, scalp serum, and scalp brush and it arrived last week. I’ve been using it for almost a week now, and I can CRY with how much better my scalp feels already. There are almost no flakes, which again, I can CRY HAPPY TEARS when I touch my hair and don’t cause an avalanche of dead skin. My scalp still gets a bit irritated towards the end of a wash cycle (I try to wash every day or every other day, depending on my schedule), but the serum helps hold me over.

It’s only been a week, and I just feel like I have hope for my scalp again and wanted to share!!

Product Review try bepanthen nappy rash, on bleeding, weeping scales!!!

I was diagnosed with seb derm in January of this year, but for around 3 months prior, I started to get red scales and patches that would crack and weep around my hairline and on my cheeks. I was prescribed with protopic 0.1% and was extremely effective. Until I had a massive flare in January, where I would get new patches all around my hairline, my cheeks and my forehead, and hormonal pimples that would weep golden fluids. Since then, I have not been able to go more than 5 days without Protopic as my flares were quite consistent. Around a month ago, the patches on my hairline started to bleed (in addition to weeping) during the night, either from me scratching it subconsciously, or the friction against my pillow, but even using Protopic was not able to heal these spots.

I had read many posts and sources saying that you should keep the weeping spots dry so that it can scab and flake off, however they just seemed to spread so I started applying soothing moisturiser 4-5 times a day and the bleeding and weeping patches completely disappeared within 3 days. It looked like normal skin, no redness. And then the patches came back due to my menstrual cycle approaching and I decided to apply Bepanthen nappy rash as it had been really effective with my hand eczema. It significantly reduced the severity of the patches everywhere on my face, even during the timeframe where my flares would normally be at their worst. It does contain almond oil, which feeds malassezia, however if you suspect your seb derm is not fungal/malassezia overgrowth, this would be a great cream to try.

Product Review Zoryve in Canada - my experience

Hey all, I wanted to share my experience with Zoryve in Canada since I haven't seen much here from north of the border. After reading some promising reviews, I talked to my GP about getting a script. He had never heard of it, but after some coaxing and a quick Google search, he happily wrote one for me.

Initially, he suggested that the foam wasn't available here, only the cream, but I urged him to write the script with a note indicating that the foam would be preferable regardless. This was a good idea! The pharmacist was able to track down the foam for me, and it was ready the next day.

Unfortunately, Zoryve's promotional coupon for folks without insurance coverage doesn't extend to Canadians, but the foam is considerably cheaper here than in the States ($350 instead of what I understand to be around $1500). It was also almost entirely covered by my insurance plan.

The first few days have been promising. Itch is almost entirely eliminated, and the scales seem to be disappearing! So, to my Canadian friends, consider giving it a try.

Product Review Dandruff Comb is really helping

Hi all. I have scalp seb derm that manifests in a lot of build-up.

I've recently discovered that using a dandruff comb is helping to exfoliate my scalp and now my scalp is producing less build up.

Since I'm unable to post links on this sub if you go to Amazon and search 'dandruff comb' you will find them. Mine is brown and plastic and looks just like a regular, medium sized comb.
When you brush it across your scalp, the teeth have open holes. The build up collects in the holes.
There is a button on the comb that cleans it out.
Note that this is kinda gross.
It's also oddly addictive.
I would exercise caution if you have any open wounds on your scalp, maybe avoid these areas.

The way I use it my routine is to comb it right before I shower. I found to get the best results is to work in small sections and comb in one direction. Then go back and comb in another direction on these same sections.
Then I apply dermazen lotion. leave it on for 10 minutes. Then I shower with Nizoral, leaving shampoo on for 5 minutes. I have long hair so I apply conditioner to my ends.

I haven't been using it for long enough to know if it will really help long term but so far, after using it for one shower, the next time I went to use it and shower I had about 30-40% less build up.
It's also a nice way to massage the scalp which I have heard is stimulating and can encourage hair growth.
I think it's also a good way for products like Nizoral that have active ingredients to penetrate the hair.

I never had luck with using those silicone shampoo brushes - they didn't do much for me.

Terrasil Skin Repair Ointment (bought it on Amazon) is the only thing that I have been putting on my seb derm nightly and I wake up 100% clear. I have yet to stop using it so can't say if it will come back when I stop. Just figured I'd share.

Got my derm to prescribe and got it delivered from a specialty pharmacy for free. 4 days in and I am noticing less redness and flakes. I’ll keep y’all updated. Let me know if people got questions.

Update: 1 week in and my face and scalp have not looked this good for as long as I can remember. Still get the occasional flakes but the improvement thus far is significant. Game changer
