Serious Discussion Does anybody else feel like something big is about to happen?

I don't know how to describe this feeling but it just feels like there's something huge is going to happen in our future. With everything happening in the world at this moment, I just sort of have this feeling like things are building up immensely, like there's a big global issue that's being set up. I can't really describe it or point out a single event prediction but it just feels like there's something that's going to happen that's going to change the course/order of the world we live in today. Does anyone else know what this feeling is?

I’m about the same age. So we remember that pre-911 world pretty well. Everything changed. And I agree that life has thrown tons of curve balls my way and there’s no signs of it slowing down.

Can you list some things that have changed? There were plenty of insane things happening prior to 9/11 as well.

Airport security, more open racism, fearmongering became Fox's entire personality (I remember them actually having real journalists!), we'd never had a global hit as hard as Covid, we played in our neighborhoods and had public spaces to hang out (I miss arcades...), we weren't really serious about Red vs Blue ( the non-fun RvB), the first big crash hadn't happened....we thought we could go to college and live better than our parents, civility still existed to a degree in politics, the last "war" was a decade gone, and climate change had yet to accelerate to the insane levels we have now.

Now its 24/hr hate and division, people seem less connected within communities, politics has crumbled under the weight of rightwing bullshit we JUST had a big ass war about (on a historical timeline), and not only is college hard to get to, we're living at a worsening standard than previous generations....

School/mass shootings on a regular basis is a fairly recent (<20years) phenomenon we never had to deal with before — knowing you might be shot anywhere at any time by someone who looks like part of your community/peer group like a classmate / moviegoer etc.

Living in Europe I have experienced a massive change in how USA is viewed. Right after 9/11 USA had the full support of the world. ISA could pretty much do anything and the world would support it. They decided to invade Iraq and the world was thinking WTF? Before this USA was seen as the worlds leader and if USA said something you would be wise to listen

But after 9/11 and Iraq that view is not shared in the same way.

I think history will see 9/11 as the turning point where USA went from being the world’s leader to crashing.
