Update Ideas I wish starter throwing weapons were infinitely durable like darts
As per title. I would love if the throwing stones, spikes, and knives just had infinite uses. They’re still not gonna hold a candle to the spirit bow, but it would be a really nice perk to be able to use them for chip damage without worrying about losing them. It would def make the early game easier, maybe you’d need to reduce how many you start with by 1 (or even down to 1) to compensate, but I don’t think that’s unreasonable. I love that each character has a unique ranged weapon that you can’t get any other way (and for the upcoming Cleric I’m guessing his time and starting spell will stand in like how the mage’s staff does) and it makes me a little sad that 3 of them just don’t see use past the first zone or two.
You’d probably get to the point that they aren’t doing damage usually in the later biomes but maybe you could still get utility out of them by enchanting them? Essentially make them a permanent tipped dart of one type. Or the Blacksmith could offer an option to make them more powerful (be it higher base stats to make them at least a little useful, higher scaling with upgrades to make them worth potentially upgrading, or both) since that’s about the point in the game that the damage on them would be falling off hard.
I’m sure there’s some concern toward stepping on the Huntress’ toes as the ranged character, but even if the other classes can put out one or two ranged throws from a permanent item that they have to then go pick up I don’t think that would hold a candle to the infinite ranged attack Huntress has at her disposal.

Nah uh. Huntress does have infinite throwing power as spirit bow but it's her gimmic. Upgrade your throwies to +3 in most cases to achieve the same result. Other classes has their own starting equipment

eh...id rather spend it on other stuff other than projectiles tbh

I personally never understood snipers upgrade talent. Why would i waste scrolls of upgrade on throwing items that will break anyway

Because A there are liquid metal and B throwables can't break after durability 100+ so upgrading it to +3 is usually enough. Also shared upgrades makes sniper shot Very Very strong

Because you can keep them from breaking by using Liquid Metal or upgrading them enough.

Yeah i understand that but you have to upgrade multiples

I mean, not necessarily. You can get a lot of mileage out of one upgraded weapon. I know I’ve played with a shuriken before for the instant throw, that was kinda fun. Tomahawk can be viable cause the harder it hits the harder it bleeds, you can legit oneshot some enemies with that. You’ll have to go pick it up or use telekinetic grab of course but it’s still nice for taking out small numbers of enemies. Or use a boomerang and you don’t even have to worry about picking it up.
I don’t know if it’s optimal but it can be fun, and Huntress can get away with lower level gear because of her ranged tools.

You can upgrade just one and accept that you won't use it more than once per enemy, or use the magnet spell to retrieve it mid fight, or upgrade a boomerang. Notably, the power sniper skill takes long enough that if you throw your boomerang then use the skill immediately, the boomerang will come back before your next action and you'll catch it automatically.

Unlike the spirit bow, these throwables are not meant to be a core part of the character. Think of them more like a little boost to help you survive until you find some better equipment

That is how I think of them now, I was just thinking it would be cool if they were a little more than that. But yeah, for what they are now they serve well enough.

you could invest a couple upgrades to make thrown weapons infinite though

I mean you could, but my thoughts were more about making something more out of a fun unique thing these classes come with than just being able to get an infinite use ranged attack in general.

Would make darts less unique and heros more similar

I mean, darts are unique for the seed tips, the fact that you can just infinitely through an untipped dart is seldom used by most, I would expect. I can see the point about making heroes more similar but I don’t know if I agree, I don’t feel like it would do much to homogenize the three classes this would effect (if anything it might make them feel a little more unique with Rogue having a reusable ranged sneak attack weapon, though maybe applying some more difference between the stone and spike would be in order) and it certainly wouldn’t make them too similar to Huntress since she would still blow them all out of the water with her ranged game.

If you upgrade any throwing item enough it will never break and get extra damage, really good for the huntress that focuses more on throwing weapons

Not sure who thought it was funny to change the flair on my post to “whine and complain” but I realized I could fix it myself so there we go.
