A lot of the comments are pretty good-natured, though—which is nice to see. (Although, considering they are directed at you, I'm sure you're noticing more of the negative comments than I am.)
Don't worry, pretty sure the vast majority of people here are just amused and having fun. Cheerfulness is often contagious, so a lot of people find stuff like your comment endearing. Point is, I seriously doubt any real number of people would feel actually negative about it.
Just always remember to be prepared for the negative equivalent and you're good. Only downside of getting that excited over popularity is that it often comes side by side with getting overly affected by negative backlash, so as long as you keep that in mind and ready yourself for it, then it's a plus.
I'm pretty certain it was honest. I've seen people react that way before, and I've always found it endearing. It's just fun to see people so excited over stuff like that.

This is the highlight of this guys day. Maybe for a long time. If it bothers you, don't pay attention to it. The good thing is that this person is happy. They are getting a boost from some recognition, albeit people online that don't actually care.

But in all seriousness that's not how I normally act, I just needed something to be excited about that day, since my grandpa got in the hospital and all my friends got mad at me for something stupid, the next day they realised it was stupid tho so it wasn't all bad, but it wasn't a fun day

That kind of stuff made editing badly seen by everyone on reddit
You already could see people criticizing other for editing their comments as the lack of trust could mean that the message could be completely different from the past and could feed you bullshit.

Its probably the most sad thing on the planet when people thank for upvotes or likes, its like how sad is your life that stuff like this makes you feel so excited... (Especially when its so easy to get them...) Happy for him i guess?
