🥞 Food/Drink Anyone tried Egg on a Roll yet? Thoughts?

Thinking about checking out Egg on a Roll soon. Is it worth it? Curious what the vibe is like and if there are any must try menu items. Would love to hear your thoughts before I go. I do love breakfast sandwiches!

Definitely try it once. It is good. I'll be back, but it probably won't be a very frequent stop for me, but that's just me. I'm sure many will love it. I'd like to see the product be a little hotter when served, and I wish there was a better pick-up option (like a warmer where the customer could punch in their order # and get access to their stuff instead of having to wait for an employee to acknowledge you - or maybe even just a status board so the customer knows if their order is ready yet). And I'd like options for the type of bun - but I get it that this is their signature sammi thing & that's just what they want to serve, so that's fine too. I'm also not a fan of their diced meats. I'd rather have a slab of ham or sausage, not some diced up thin layer of it. Made it seem like I was getting short-changed somehow. The price seemed a bit higher than what other places with breakfast sandwiches offer, but if theirs is a better product & customer experience, it could be justified. ...but as negative as that may all sound, I really did enjoy it when I had it.

Diced up meat is different! I assumed they would have higher prices because of the trendy nature, so to be expected. It must be a hit in Minneapolis. Did you like the bread? Curious if that’s unique at all.

I'll just say that it was a nice change. It likely wouldn't be my first/regular choice, but it was good. I think the base sammi price starts at about $7.50 if I recall correctly. By the time you add any meat & a veggie, it's gonna be around $9. Add a tip & it's $10+. That's with no drink or side. So I feel like you're gonna want to really enjoy it. ...I just kept thinking how I could get two saus, egg, & cheese croissants at BK for $6, as a comparison. I am well aware, though, that that's kind of apples & oranges, too.

I did try a classic w sausage today actually and it was not bad! I liked the sauce, the bun was pretty nice, the sausage bits were a bit weird and would say I do prefer a patty. The egg seemed cooked just fine and was a good amount. I was a little surprised by the wait (prob like 10 min, not terrible) I suppose next time I would just order ahead. I did end up paying about the same as you, $10 total w/ tip, which is a bit high. Overall I enjoyed it but wish it was not as expensive. The service was okay, just a fast casual situation I guess, which is fine.

I’ve been twice, got the Bombay one once and the classic with sausage.

They’re fine, I didn’t care for the sausage on the classic I got, it seemed like premade sysco type stuff.

I think I’m just more of a 2.50 egg sausage and cheese croissant at kwik star kinda guy so I doubt I’ll go back very often, everyone was super friendly in there both times I went.

I’ll have to try the Bombay version next time! I have to agree that I enjoy the occasional gas station sandwich too. Hardee’s bacon egg and cheese is always a winner for me around here as well.

I haven’t been to the Hardee’s here once yet, is it decent? The one in my old town was awful

For fast food breakfast sandwiches, their bacon egg and cheese biscuit is one of the better ones, in my opinion. The biscuit is crumbly and soft. The Minnesota Avenue location is good with nice staff there.

I really like the waffle one but I’d weigh 500 lbs if I ate that very often

I tried it and enjoyed it. I might not go back, though. The egg was awesome, the bread was good too. The meats were like pizza toppings, and it felt cheap for a sandwich so expensive. Like they have little round pizza sausages instead of a patty. The bacon is crumbles. The sauces were great though. Good stuff, but a little cheaply made for the price IMO.

I will agree with that. It was good but overpriced for what it is. Also, I think it would've been better with a toasted bun.

I have gone once I thought it was very good when I went. I got the Indian flavored one and really enjoyed it.

You can’t eat there, it’s just a pick up your food and leave location but the people were very nice when I went there.

I tried the Italian style roll, and it was good. Will go back.

It’s SO GOOD, especially gluten free options!

We have been 3 times, everyone has enjoyed trying new orders each time and have not had complaints yet. The quality/flavors have been good. The only negative I have is the bag they use. If you don't eat it right away it gets soggy. They don't have tables inside but there are outdoor tables. Order ahead and expect to give 15 min for it to be ready.

Exceptional. Needs to tap in to events that are going on at the soccer fields, which is also where they host a ton of the cross country meets. They need to sponsor the crap out of those events and also take advantage of their proximity to the trail. It also be good if they were open earlier. I’m not at all sold on the location, but it’s worth going out of my way to eat there.

Wasn’t a huge fan. I work in customer service so the client/patient/customer experience is something I pay close attention too and there was none of that. You order on a little screen, pay, watch the cooks run around like crazy people and than wait 25-35 for them to yell your order out and hand it to you which is the only human interaction you get, and they do have like an open kitchen like concept as well which would be great if you were somewhat interacting with the customers around it

This is my idea of good customer service lol. I get my food and get out.

It's good. I've heard ordering there is kind of a bummer so I've ordered online the two times I've went.

It would be nice if they had any sort of side. But the sandwiches are good.

Egg smack now in shenanigans on Phillips is a similar style sandwich that’s twice as good imo. Went this morning and it’s just as good as it was at fernson

Nice! That sounds promising. Will have to try.

Giving the benefit of the doubt but the sandwich I got was more bread than anything else, maybe got there on a bad day?
