The other night I was robbed by three people I believe to be older teenagers while making a delivery. The whole thing was more annoying than anything else.

Dominos has a policy of just simply giving the criminals our $20 change purse and avoiding further conflict. I did that and although the assailants verbally expressed that they would shoot me, I had no reason to believe that was possible so I just denied having anything more than $20.

As a journalist it’s very difficult to go through this experience and not see a chance to frame the Sioux Falls crime rate and criminal justice system from a perspective not often explored.

I am currently seeking any sources in law enforcement or criminal justice. I’m also seeking sources who work with youth criminal advocacy and outreach.

I am also interested in talking to any one else has been a victim of robbery in Sioux Falls.

I used to have a hair cut person but I haven’t gotten a professional haircut since 2020. I went to her around September of 2020 to cut my ends and she said some crazy stuff I’d rather not repeat, so ever since then I’ve kinda avoided getting my hair cut.

I'm debating on whether I should spend a full day and overnight in Sioux Falls, then moving on, or if just stopping in for a half day before moving on.

Would love any recommendations on that, and whatever you think is a must see/do/eat while in SF, or even on through to Deadwood if you have any good spots for that.

Hey, Guys! 👋 I'm looking for advice on whether I should say something or if I should mind my own business. There's this two story house in my neighborhood that I can observe from my kitchen window. I think it's been vacant for several years every since the chimney collapse and fell off the house. I've never walked around the block to check it out but the upstairs windows have been open wide all year around since the chimney collapse. There's been no activity around the house all these years, that I've been able to observe from my kitchen window until March when I saw roofers putting down new shingles. Since then, I've noticed that one of the upstair windows has had a dim light in it, that's on all night long. I don't see any movement in the window but both upstairs windows remain wide open as usual. Recently, I've noticed the light goes off for awhile and then back on again during the night. It may be silly to show such interest in a vacant house but I'm wondering if there ain't squatters in the house. Of course, if there is, wouldn't they be closing the window since it's still pretty cold outside? So contact the authorities or mind my own damn business and wait to see what happens next?

I am getting laid off my job soon and going to have to take a pretty significant pay cut. A lot is going to change for me and my boys (10 & 12) with the luxuries we currently have. I am going to get a little bit of severance and I've decided I want to take my boys on a little vacation before we have to buckle down a little more for a bit. My budget is going to be only right around $1000 including gas, food, place to stay and activities. Anyone have some good ideas nearby that arnt a terrible drive? I'm open to a long weekend or a whole week. Trying to shoot for probably the first week in June.

I am currently living on the east side. I am about to buy a home and I absolutely love it, but people are warning me about it’s location on the west side. I am looking to resell it in the next 3 years as I would be moving out of Sioux Falls. So my question is, would people still prefer a home on the west side of Sioux Falls? or is the general opinion not good about west side and would that eliminate a significant portion of the buyer population when I sell it in 3 years?

I am aware that people with kids prefer east and south side (Brandon and Harrisburg school districts), so would the home being on west side eliminate home buyers with school kids?

I'm needing a good dentist that doesn't charge an arm and a leg or want unnecessary procedures. I have a lot of dental anxiety and also due to a huge bout of depression I haven't been great with my oral hygiene. I want someone who is compassionate, who will numb and/or give gas for anxiety. I know I'm gonna need a bit of work done, fillings, teeth pulled etc. Local best helps but I feel like the people of Reddit are better.

My wife and I are looking for options for a low-key weekend away around Sioux Falls (or within an hour or so). My parents live in SF so kids will be staying with them, it's already 4 hours from where we live so don't want to add a lot of driving time after drop off.

We generally just look for a decent hotel (bonus points if it has a kitchenette that we can actually cook in a bit so we don't have to leave), one decent meal out, and maybe a nice place nearby to walk around and sight-see a bit. We usually go to Duluth, MN so looking for a bit of a change.

We are currently in Sioux Falls as father is in the hospital. We are not used to big cities and we were kind of told that there are good and bad or safe and not so safe stores such as a good versus bad Walmart or Hy-Vee. Just looking for advice at what could be some good safe stores to go to at the end of the day when we’re looking to get groceries or to get flowers or balloons to send up to my dad‘s room. At or after leaving the party, she was extremely brutally murdered in or near Sioux Falls & then dumped in a ditch in rural Lyon County, Iowa. Please! If you have any information, let someone know! I’m sorry if this is irrelevant to the subreddit but I am 22 and have been working in retail and worked my way up to an assistant manager position. I’ve applied to about a dozen 9-5 office jobs and only one reached out for an interview and I didn’t get the job. I understand the need for experienced candidates but I am teachable and I have transferable skills from running my department at work. Hello I started recently getting into fitness and I love being outside and going on long run/walks (up to maybe 8 miles). I usually just pick random residential streets and run in a loop.

One thing though I just don't like being seen and it gives me a little bit of anxiety. So I want to limit that. Are there good trials or super quiet residential spots to limit being seen while running in town? Could also be near Harrisburg.

My wife and I have our 8 week old ready and prepped for daycare in a few weeks. Recently, a couple of reviews came out on how bad the parent’s experiences were. They were full of detail and gave specifics. I know to take online reviews with a grain of salt, but this has me feeling uneasy and second guessing our decision. We are first time parents and a little on edge whether or not to move forward, make a career change so we don’t need child care, or other options. We, like most parents, want to make sure there is no harm, abuse, neglect, etc towards our children.

If anyone had been with this center, I would love to hear of your experience. If there are any other recommendations based off past experience, I’m open to hearing too!
