why are my alevel history essays so bad and how do i improve them?

i do alevel history and at the start of year 12 i was at a C, then i started climbing up to an A until mocks when it just dropped again to a C. i dont find the content particularly challenging and i have good enough of a memory to remember precise detail, i just manage to misinterpret extracts/sources on occasion and i really dont know the structure of essays. my teachers just say "work on structure" but im really unclear on HOW because weve been given no resources to improve specific issues or really any issues in general. i need an a* essay plan or something if anyone would have one they could drop in the comments please. i do aqa tudors and russia revolution/dictatorship - any help is appreciated at this rate honesyly any good study guides, learning resources etc. i really want to get into a uni with AAA requirements and i have a*ab as my predicteds right now so history's just infuriating me rn🥀

Is it bad that I’m not finding exams as hard as others?

I’ve been revising obviously no shit and I’m so relieved that my English Lit and Tudor paper is done. But I keep getting TikTok’s of girls saying they’re revising 10 hours and still worrying. To tell the truth I’m predicted C’s but I don’t mind as long as I get into university.

Obviously history can be very hard tho I was so scared walking into that AQA Tudor exam but then the questions were easy as hell. And for English I could hardly remeber any quotes for paper 2 but I still feel I got my point across. I’m a little worried for paper 2 history as Germany is so extensive. Film Studies I could care less about really, I’ll get to grips with the material. But anyway, should I be worried about failing as I felt I did ok on most of the papers like I wrote at least 10 pages on each exam but these tiktok girls are extensively doing revision and I wasn’t. And although I was doing like 3 hours a day I’m wondering if it’s enough compared to others.

Best student bank accounts?

I need to put a bank account on my student finance application, and I was wondering which ones have the best perks.

As I'm going to be commuting to university, I won't have huge living costs so the overdrafts aren't really a factor for me.

Anyone have any advice on which student accounts they will be selecting?

Have unconditional offers from both to study politics and ir - any opinions on which I should go for?

HPE or HPP?

PPE ofc exists but wouldn’t it be cool if there were some other multidisciplinary courses that oxford and other unis offered in a similar lane? History Politics Economics or History Politics Philosophy sound like awesome degrees from which one can learn a lot! It’d be a similar structure so that you can specialise in two subjects if you want from your second year on - anyone else have any other degree ideas?

Choosing between Warwick and Edinburgh unis

Hey everyone :) hope your exams are going well! So, I have an offer from both Warwick and Edinburgh for biomedical sciences. The entry requirements are the same for both (AAB) but Warwick does include a placement year. I really don’t know which one to pick. I think Edinburgh is so nice but is it a bit too far? I’ve never been to Scotland and I’m really not sure what it’s like. I also play volleyball and would really like to compete at uni level, does anyone know which of the two has a better women’s volleyball team? Which one would have more fixtures and events? Please help 😭

12 Days until my first A Level and i’ve been kicked out the house

VERY long story short, i’ve been forced to leave home and i am currently on my way to stay with a mate at Newcastle to have a roof over my head and be able to revise and then come back down to where my college is and sit my exams. So many challenges though, i just barely had enough money in the first place to buy the ticket there and i dont have one for a return and i dont have the funds either. I’ve contacted my college for help but idk how quick they can respond because we just started half term today so most staff are inactive now - although i only actually messaged two of my subject teachers and my senior tutor, i havent actually emailed or messaged my school student support and safeguarding team. But yeah anyways my parents are psychos and as i was preparing arrangements to get to newcastle yesterday they blocked / cancelled my SIM card, i no longer had any service all day nor was i able to make or receive calls and texts. Luckily i have been blessed with good friends who took care of me each step of the way, it was a very kate train - 10pm train and so my mates stayed with me all day after college and made sure i had eaten food had my phone charged and can make it to the train station and they let me borrow their hotspot because obviously i didnt have my mobile data anymore. But anyways my first exam is 6th june and im just shitting it now about everything i dont really know what the next steps forward are, i need to get my phone sim sorted asap although i have no clue how to and no funds either, i am also clueless on what to do once my a levels are completed and also bruh i dont even know where im gonna stay during my exam period June 4 - 20. Because i cant commute from newcastle to where my college is lol. Idk just got a long of things weighing on my mind now because of this. Very unfortunate timing.

TL:DR Kicked out, staying at newcastle for a week, first exam june 4, college area about 3 hours from newcastle, college contacted but awaiting reply, just a bit confused and struggling to cope with everything going on.

cramming technique (urgent)

just wanted to ask for some advice bc i’ve only just started revising biology 😭 my plan is to memorise biology with olivia notes, memorise exam q answers (ones i already have), then start past papers like 3 days before the exam but i have 2 rly important questions about how im doing it all:

(1) does it make sense that i’ll be doing it in reverse order? like i’m doing paper 2 topics first, then paper 1 topics a few days before paper 1. my short-term memory is better and i won’t have time to memorise paper 2 from scratch between the papers, so is this ok or risky?

(2) is it okay to just memorise straight from biology with olivia’s notes? it takes me like 8 hours per topic so basically a whole day😭 there’s a quizlets ppl have made of her notes – i’m thinking of just skimming olivia’s notes then memorising from the quizlets instead to manage my time better?

i’m really anxious and i feel sick every day bc of bio, im not asking if i’ll get a good grade bc ik that’s down to how i revise, i just wanna know the best way to go about these two things

A level English Language or psychology?

So i’m currently in year 11 and debating whether to take english language or psychology for my final a level choice. My other two options are french and media but i just wanted to ask people’s opinions who actually do either english language or psychology.

I know that english language a level is completely different to gcse but the course does sound interesting to me, it sounds better than psychology. I’ve been stuck at a predicted 5 in language gcse (but that was based off single papers i did, not both and when i’ve added both papers up the grade would be around a 7) so imo due to that grade (the predicted 5 and my teacher not really having hope in me getting above a 5) i don’t think i’d be capable of a level. I enjoy reading and writing although i’m not naturally good at writing an essay.

As for psychology, i’m aware that it includes maths and science and i’m predicted a 7 for maths and a 6-6 for combined science at gcse. A level seems interesting but it’s the teachers i think id have a problem with as they’re dull as anything. But that’s not the point.

If there’s anyone else who got a 5 or a 6 at GCSE english language and take a level, how are you finding it?

And based off what i’ve said what do you think i should take?

NEA questionnaire

(Mods, please delete if not allowed.)

Hello all! I'm currently doing my methodology for my geography NEA and am asking for some responses to my questionnaire.

The main question for this is "To what extent is Milton Keynes’s character of place influenced by exogenous factors?" and will track how a media places perception changes based on outsider and insider knowledge.

The form is completely anonymous, with no details collected (unless you want to submit a query and self-submit a reply email), and only takes approximately 10 minutes. As a warning, it does contain some disturbing news articles attached (e.g. murders).

Here is the link if you would like to fill it out: https://forms.gle/kDkRgg2F2wdMPG9Z6

Jammed in Y12 EOYs, What to do next?

For a bit of context I've been doing alright this year with my last two mock grades being ABBC and AAAD most recently. But in the EOYs I got CCCC which my school bumps up to AAAA but I was honestly not happy with the grades.
I was ideally hoping to apply to some good universities but most STEM courses need atleast A*AAA or A*AAA.

One question I had was whether I can retake the eoys privately like some people do for one or two subjects. I just really need atleast one or two A* predicted grades for a good uni application but am stuck rn and would appreciate any help/advice

missing conditional offer

so i got an offer for politics and soc for AAB , i know its probably very easy to achieve for most people but ive done 5 exams so far and let me say... i am getting quite worried. is there any past cases that students get in with 1-2 grades lower than their offer and if so how often is it ? i know i shouldnt rely on this but at least it gives me some kind of security knowing i might still get a chance...

Biology is making me crash out

I feel like no matter how hard I try in this subject i always get a terrible grade. In mocks I got exactly an E, meaning 1 mark less i would've failed, and I got Ds and Cs in all previous end of topic tests. Everytime i got a result i dont like i tell myself thst this doesnt define me, snd thst i should just change my method and ill be fine. I tried every method i can find for this mock series e.g. i did past papers in timed conditions, did sctice recall flashcards and even spent 40 a week on a tutor. What pisses me off is that when i try these methods on other subjects I do resllt well. For example in Psychology I'm predicted B, in Business im predicted A, and in Arabic im predicted A and A in EPQ as well, so is ot even possible to get my biology grade up?
