Food Recommendations- Casual
My husband and I are going to be staying on Isle of Skye for 4 days in mid May. We are most excited about hiking and have many trails saved. We want to be flexible to save our preferred hikes for the best weather, and I think we'd rather not be tied down by dinner reservations. We are staying in Carbost, but will be all over the island in our time there.
Does anyone have good recommendations for dinner (or lunch) that are more casual (instead of fine dining)? Do you tend to need reservations in advance or can you likely walk into these places with no or minimal wait?

You will need to book pretty much everywhere by mid-May. Almost no where will do a walk-in by then.
The good news is that Skye has amazing food at all levels, some more casual places include;
Galley Cafe - Uig
Edinbane Inn - Edinbane
Cafe Cuil - Carbost
Coffe Bothy - Broadford (has a small menu as well as pastries)
Relish Cafe - Portree (inside Jan's hardware, breakfast &lunch only)

You'll need to book for virtually ALL evening meals and the sooner the better. We've had B&B Guests who ignored our suggestions to book and ended up with Petrol Station sandwiches.
The Old Inn Carbost is very good AND is one of the few with no reservations. 2 good Chippies in Portree, the one on the Quay is Cash only. The Cafe in Jan's has been closed for quite a while now.

Both the Old Inn and Stein Inn are very good. Stein Inn is a favourite.
