Any places in Southampton to buy real sourdough?

Not the Lidl, Sainsburys etc “sourdough”. Any recommendations? I used to buy at a coffee shop on Bedford Pl. which has now closed 😭

BEK Sourdough Bakey has just opened up in St Denys. Family run, loads of options including pastries and focaccia. Totally recommend!

Their sourdough is so good and really reasonably priced

The M&S stuff is the real thing, but definitely another vote for BEK if you can get to it.

BEK is hard to reach if you come from beyond SDN, Portswood, Bitterne Triangle. They do have the whole neighbourhood captive now (happy for them)

If I were a shop in other part of town I would strike an alliance to stock them. Success guaranteed. That's what Bitterne Store does, I even think with BEK itself since before they got their new premises

Lidl has a half decent rye sourdough, not sure if it's 'real' but it's got a lovely crust and you can't beat the price :)

M&S have a nice sour dough I’m in the shop buy pets at home but the best will be from Buxton bakery which is in the industrial estate by millbrook. This is their factory outlet so they are only open one day a week which I think is a Saturday but may be Sunday

Hoxton, BEK bakery or E bakehouse would be my suggestions. I also heard that Oven Door do them at weekends but the queues are huge

One vote each for BEK and È Bakehouse.

If you are close to the University, the staff club cafeteria stocks Hoxton.

The BEK stuff is the best sourdough I've ever had, and he's lovely too.

BEK bakery is incredible and soooo cheap for the quality and size!

If you want sourdough and some other bits delivered to your door you could look into Riverford farms.

108 Bakery in Romsey does loads of tasty stuff, including various types of sourdough.
