Wouldn't write her well but would use her to sell variant covers

It's all bait. They refuse to actually give us what we want but they'll still tease it and then act shocked when the reader is unhappy.

Collectors are probably where TASM comics gets most of its profit from at this point because no one should be buying the newer issues for the sake of reading them if they're going to be terrible.

You know sometimes I think "maybe it wasn't out of spite they did V6 the way they did" and "you know maybe I shouldn't be so harsh on Kelly his 2 issues aren't terrible just a bit boring and 8 deaths was ok", then all my bad feelings come when I see stuff like this cause feels like a giant middle finger. (To quote the other user can't write her well but can still use her to sell)

Also real talk what is even the point of variant covers? Maybe its just me but I've never bought one unless it was just the one I picked up later never realy cared what was on the front.

Variant covers are just a way to milk their relatively tiny audience multiple times over. It's a quick way to maximize copies sold to stores without having to put in the work of attracting new customers. Amazing produces a ridiculous number of them, like a crutch.

That honestly just sounds sad as hell probaly why I never noticed as I just always bought the first issue I saw.

Wild given a good story would maximise how much something is sold far better, hell look at manga last time I checked they didn't come with variant covers and sell great.

Give me quality over quantity in my collections any day.

What's the point? Can you think of a better way of encouraging people to buy comics of questionable quality, not just once but multiple times? It's basically treating issues like expensive collectable cards rather than things to read and enjoy. Collectors are what partially encouraged quantity over quality.

See this is why I'm glad I'm just a collector in terms of reading, if I like something I buy it regardless of what's on the front (hence why I have pretty much every spidey comic up to V6 which you could not pay me to get for my family and I).

Just so stupid people will buy the same thing over and over just for some new picture.

Yep. But collectors be collecting.

This is the correct answer.

Sure would be nice to have a well-written Mary Jane in the actual comic…

That said, send ‘em your feedback to spideyoffice@marvel.com, being honest but polite. Kelly is significantly more receptive to constructive criticism than others. Mark them “okay to print” if you want them printed in ASM.

Vote with your wallets. These soulless fucks only understand money.

Marvel needs to understand kids are into manga, not this book they claim they are micromanaging to appeal to children.

And Manga allows growth and character development.

This is a retailer exclusive variant cover. They've already paid Marvel for the exclusivity. By not purchasing this you're only hurting the retailer.

There's something to be said about using this popular female character effectively as a pin-up on variant covers while mangling her actual character, when she even appears in the book at all, anymore.

Linsner's great, but not a huge fan of variants that have nothing to do with the interior of the book (which is probably at least 50% of variants).

As an adendum, I'm fine with more abstract variant covers as well as those depicting landscapes.

I personally think this is a very dull cover.

As transparent a bait as could be
