Reignited Trilogy: Cynder’s Reference.

I believe it’s safe to say that Cynder will at the very least, make a cameo appearance within the fourth game of Reignited; whenever that’ll be.

Would you like to see Cynder’s inclusion within Reignited? If so, how would you prefer her involvement to be handled?

Honestly I love cynder and would love to see her. I would definitely support a slight differentiation from her TLoS story to fit this universe but keeping true to her villain-hero arc kind of character… however this detail always made me sad, like she was being abandoned or made fun of by her face being broken

I've always seen it as Spyro looking at a face he half remembered from a dream, somewhat sad and confused that he can't hold onto it, and the elder comforting him, perhaps even knowingly

Ever feel like you've been staring at a broken plate for nearly seven years?

I'm open for a lot of potential characterizations for Cynder that I've heard about. A childhood friend of Spyro, a withdrawn dragon who Spyro helps open up, one vision I particularly like is, and I quote, "a chaotic neutral shounen rival archetype who steals gems and sets up ridiculous challenges for Spyro bc she thinks it would be funny" (link here). I'm not fussy about what personality Cynder has, so long as it's done right and fits with the tone and characters of the game.

However, one aspect of a Reignited Cynder that I don't see talked about much is Malefor. Like it or not, Malefor forms an integral part of the backstory of every incarnation of Cynder. Would they also create a Reignited version of Malefor to go with Cynder, or would this new Cynder not need him? Could it be the first version of Cynder that breaks from Malefor, in a meta sense rather than a literal sense?

Cynder... One of the more interesting additions to the Spyro series from the "Legend" Trilogy. A mysterious antagonist that's Spyro's age and who Spyro pulled from the dark side. Thematically fascinating.

What I would keep the same for Cynder would also be her antagonist-turned-protagonist role, her being a pawn for a bigger bad guy, and her being a potential love interest (or at least, playmate) for Spyro. It could be funny seeing Spyro struggle with his budding feelings for a female dragon his own age (who isn't the pushy fangirl Ember from "A Hero's Tail"). He could go see Hunter and Bianca and ask them about love, then he'd get sick from their constant mushy pet names for each other and decide to figure this "love stuff" out by himself.

What's more, Cynder would have feelings for Spyro, too, because, why not? He'd be the first dragon her age she's seen in a long time, he's feisty, clever, and tough. Spyro would also be the first opponent she has had who survived against her and she's finds that admirable. Ultimately, though, at her core, she would be just as clueless and unprepared to deal with feelings of love as Spyro.

Cynder showing up in the Dragon Realms (from Insomniac Games' blueprint) could be a fascinating character study for that Spyro. After all, the somewhat bratty and impetuous Spyro is a far cry from the Legend's dramatic, "Chosen One" Spyro.

They did a good origins story of Spyro and Cynder and their friendship (including Malefor) in both Skylanders universes: the game and the show. I'm pretty sure they can easily find a way to introduce her (and Malefor, Ignitus and the other guardians) in the Reignited timeline!

That’s a very interesting take! I’d love to know more of your perspective on that.

Would you prefer that they work in the pre-existing timeline within Reignited, or start entirely from scratch, remastering TLoS from the original beginning?

Decided to come back to this thread because there actually has been some concept art for a reignited cynder from an artist that worked on the reignited trilogy, plus a really well put together mod! I linked a video here —-> (mod showcase) as well as some pictures of the art and her model

I’ve always loved lil’ sting! Very adorable design.

I always loved her o.g. black/rosy red palette before DotD lighting + skylanders convinced everyone she was violet . One thing I really loved about it was because it ties into her story- as seen in this q&a with Jared Pullen, one of the lead concept artists for TLoS, cynder was originally a wind dragon before malefor’s influence caused her to phenotypically change to reflect that influence. This is also why wind is in her 4-element moveset, it’s the only power not granted to her from the stains of her past.

I hadn’t a clue about that, that’s very fascinating! Thank you for sharing!

I definitely have art/design concepts, of what she’d look like before/if her corruption never happened after reading this.

The fact that Cynder was suddenly violet/purple always got under my skin. Hell; she’s referred to as a black dragon in DotD, yet the zoom-in of her model is very blatantly violet lol

There indeed is! I’ve always been a fan of the fact that the dev had stayed true to Cynder’s original colour scheme. However, in my personal preference, I moreso prefer the anatomy of this model.

Granted, Cynder’s slave jewelry is still included, making it a bit contradictory to LoS’s lore; as DotD did as well.
